Ham is relitigating his argument that there was nothing wrong with the Eagles’ Offense prior to the Bye that more repetitions wouldn’t have fixed … bringing it up to the mastered perfection level. He believes he is smarter than Lane Johnson and Jeff Stoutland, and that their Bye Week suggestions put the Offense backwards from achieving its potential.

My argument was actually the newly created scheme and O had never been tested. That was the main issue being worked on at the bye. Once they fixed the actual O plays…then the players have an opportunity to really start mastering.

Ham should like this.

But makes more sense to define the passing O when so many key elements were missing in the TB game like you’ve done

@cunninghamtheman hearkening back to your Thomas Booker comment, the following tweet is very interesting

In front 7 it’s almost like they are including ILB that are off ball as ‘in the box’

Hurts college playcallers were better than his pro playcallers…backwards

Different goal. For qualifying for the Playoffs in college, margin of victory is even more important than wins. So running up the score is expected.

Further the teams on whom the scores are being run up on are being paid handsomely for the opportunity to be slaughtered. Follow the money.

It was extensively tested in Dallas. It was tested in the Eagles Training Camp. It was tested in the joint practices. It was tested by the non-starters in the Preseason games. Then it was tested in the first four games. Then The O-Line led by Lane proposed jettisoning it. First Stoutland and then Moore agreed.

One game of four.

Front Seven and the Box are different terms, just as Back Seven and DBs are different terms.

You are flying at 100,000 feet again.

You can do better.

Where do the front seven play? Hmmm…could it be ‘in the box?’

Patullo later talked about asking guys to get in the huddle and to the line a little faster, explaining that when you can push the tempo as an offense, you put the defense in stress. They want to continue to do that and want to operate a little faster overall.

This is an area Patullo is capable of making a difference. It’s key to get out of the huddle to the line as quick a possible. Doesn’t mean you have to run a hurry up O or anything. But gives time to get a read on the D and run a player in motion. I liked hearing this statement from him.

Indeed

That varies depending on down and distance. If it’s a likely pass play, the LBs play flexed out to about 6 yards outside the box if it’s a likely run play, they could end up being in the box or they could be flexed out outside the box either one.

"The name Vic Fangio is hallowed in defensive circles. "Fangio” is now shorthand for two-high structures, light boxes, and modern defense. Fangio did not create any of those things. He does, however, deserve credit for using these now meta schemes before their influence blanketed the league.”

"The "Fangio Defense'' has a few trademarks. Fangio’s defenses consistently are at the top of the league in two-high shells before the snap. The two-high structure allows for flexibility in the secondary. Safeties can move before or after the snap, react from depth, and ultimately be used as tools to attack the offense. The roll of the safeties often comes very late and can change the picture for quarterbacks who turn their backs to the defense in play action.”

"Dissecting what occurred on a play can even be difficult because of the way the safeties’ responsibilities vary so much depending on what the offense presents. To combat Sean McVay’s famed "illusion of complexity” (the idea that a few core concepts are presented in different ways), the Fangio Defense uses the appearance of simplicity. The same exact defensive look can end up in a plethora of coverages, pressures, and assignments.”

"At the first and second level, the modern iterations of the Fangio Defense are often at the top of the league in light boxes. This is part of a never ending cat and mouse game in football. The Fangio Defense has made the choice to use technique and depth instead of numbers at the point of attack to combat the run game.”

"Generally, runs are less efficient than passes. Encouraging a team to run into a seemingly attractive look can help set the defense up for a 3rd and long. Defensive linemen are asked to eat up double teams and play with moveable leverage to keep linebackers clean, while safeties trigger downhill in the run game to make what looks like a light box play much heavier.”

"Fitting the run from depth with safeties also allows the defense to be better suited to respond to play action and the passing game. The Fangio Defense has made a choice to put an umbrella over the offense. The generic strategy is to force teams into inefficient run plays, play coverage with four rushers when it is time to pass, be flexible with coverages that start out similar but end up different, and add enough depth to the proceedings to have the Back Seven read-and-react from advantageous positions versus the most lethal of offensive weapons: play-action.

Nope..like I stated in the quote””doesn’t mean you have to run Hurry Up.” Can you understand the difference of getting everybody to the line with plenty of time left on the playclock so everybody can get a good read on things, motion…possibly change the play and everything.
