Writers have to embellish I guess, anyway doesn't matter, much in June LOL

June 16Jun 16 His 172 total TDs is 6th-most in NFL history by a quarterback in his first 82 career starts.
June 16Jun 16 Will Shipley looks to finally have a coach can utilize him much more. Says he was a huge target last day of OTA. Five targets relying on him.
June 16Jun 16 Author Pierce was a hot fantasy commodity his first year. Maybe he can ressurect his career here as a BU anyhow
June 16Jun 16 Brendan Sorsby declared for the supplemental draft. Not sure I’d touch him but the rumors are already out there that the Eagles might have interest in him.Talent wise he likely a 1st round guy who we could get for a 2nd or 3rd round pick(and we have extra) but the off the field stuff plus we have a full QB room already

The talent is there, the culture is not. We'd have time to work with him, but you are right which QB do you cut? Curious, does a supplemental pick have to go on the 53(since you technically used a future draft pick?) Dalton seems like he in a battle for the 2. If we picked up this kid our new QB would be forced onto the PS

As far as I'm concerned Shipley can hit the bricksShipley definitely has been irrelevant so far...but he is a cheap contract under team control for 2 years which is a plus for remaining on the roster. We were spoiled having a backup the level of Gainwell all those years for the same inexpensive price, with his versatility etc. His 2 years at $14 mil current contract with Tampa shows that, but that's not a common occurrence.

The assumption is we already have to trade Daulton or Mckee...or expose the rookie to waivers before trying to get him back on the PS.

Well, it's a strange deal even as things stand if there is no trade. We have Dalton and McKee battling for the 2. I think McKee would be upset if Dalton got the 2(but I understand it's a business). That being said, my thoughts are if the rook goes on the PS he would be snatched(although we can match any offers for him). I know QB3 may not matter, then again you know SF had to play a game with no QB when all 3 went down. rare for sure, but not impossible. McKee deserves a chance to start, Dalton is nearing the end of his career, so what do you do if Dalton is maybe slightly better? You could trade him, but if we did, the supplemental that still puts the rook on the PS and another rook with issues as the #3 on the roster. Kind of muddies things up even more. We could trade McKee AND Dalton, but that puts a rook as the #2. I don't see Howie doing that. What are they saying about this locally since all I get are "embellished" BS articles
June 16Jun 16 Author I just don't see McKee signing again as a BU. Dalton would be the 2 then, but if we went supplemental we are back in the same boat with a green rook as the 3, but I suppose that is better then no QB if it got to that point. I think Howie likes a proven BU(we have 2 of those) and a rook to keep the QB factory going. Doing the supplemental means additional draft capital spent. So this will be an interesting decision coming
June 16Jun 16 Author Putting McKee at QB3 would lower his trade value in my view, so we need to think about that also. As the 2 he could be worth more in a trade. IDK how many years Dalton has left, but McKee has a future still. Going the other way, if we put McKee as the 3 I doubt there would be any trade since it was apparent he wasn't as good as Dalton. Doing that could be cause for him to sign again for us as a BU. Very interesting. Howie has his hands full once again

Wicks is the WR with experience playing in this O. Which equates exactly to he’s the guy in the know of when others are screwing up. No doubt a consideration surrounding choosing to TARGET bringing Wicks in. It’s huge having any extra experience towards speeding up the learning curve involved taking on this completely differing O scheme.Takes years to really get a strong hold on running this most advanced O football as ever witnessed.

Rookie season usually just about proving yourself NFL worthy. It’s a huge task for his first season to pile too much on him. At X…there’s the physicality playing on the line of scrimmage. Do believe he can handle that. But rookie season just such a massive upscale in the levels of grind for players bodies. Even call it The Rookie Wall.

Feels like he’s been cleaning that area up each season. So plenty of evidence to believe he can catch reliably now..or going forward.

June 17Jun 17 Author 93-nice job selecting Stowers first as your TE of choice. Tough draft to mock this year, but we got the positions we needed to address. I kind of had TE choices all through the draft much like Howie had OT choices in every round of availability. I suspect Stowers will be a WIP, but we have Goedert back which is terrific news for Stowers having that pro in the room. With Stowers athleticism, I would hope to see Stowers get some play calls around mid season. IMO he still needs to show he is the future TE and there is only a way to do that
