July 20Jul 20 He has taken the Eagles to the playoffs every season, been to two Super Bowls, and won one. His overall record is 59-26 with a winning percentage of 69.4%.Wins/losses are a coach stat and Siri wins a lot of games

Those two don’t excite me a lot at that position. They are good; not great.Campbell takes over for Dean. Can he do it?Joe, what excites you so much about the defense?Sen,Sorry for not getting back sooner.. what excites me about the defense. I like a philosophy of stopping the run first, forcing passing situations, having depth in rushing the QB and the cherry is the coverage in the back. With that in mind, I like new players, always like new things to see how they work. I'm not a guy that fears losing...I fear irrelevance. I'm a " four for four" guy. That's a Philly term for a fan of all 4 major sports. I was 7 /8 when all 4 teams made the finals. The Phillies won, the rest lost. The Sixers won 3 years later...then it took another 25 years for another championship...then another 9 for that first Eagles title. Ill be 54 later this year , 2 Phillies , 2 Eagles and 1 Sixers title. I was born but too young to remember the Flyers cups.So say 46-48 years of all 4 sports...that's like 200 seasons .. 5 titles. I don't take them for granted I don't feel like the championship is ever ours to lose, it's always an opportunity to go after it.With that said... when the teams are relevant, that's when it's fun. The unknown of if they are going to win is exciting. As opposed to going into a season knowing they are going to suck. Which has been the case plenty of times. I will include average in this group because we know while average isn't bad, that isn't good enough to really contend. How that relates to this defense. Young DTs...the first line of stopping the run. Love our young DTs...especially a few of them playing for their next contract. I like the depth at edge. Needed for consistency in the pass rush. I like that there is a new unknown there plus 2 young guys who should only get better. The unknown of how much better they can get...exciting. I like physical LBs. We have 2 of them and I want to see Trotter Jr. The CBs who engage in the coverage.. this has me excited the most. Woolen is playing for a contract and Fangio never gives praise, he is old school. They are talking him up big time...at the position that many people considered their biggest weakness the last few years...the 2nd CB on the outside. DeJean is supposed to have an expanded role. So I can't wait to see the defense...is excitement for the known...and the unknown. And in contrast ..the offense... my conclusion is that regardless of OC... the success depends on the running game until we change QBs... while I love the running game for team success...it's not exciting to watch. I like the entertainment value of the pass game with routes and QB decisions. Putting the ball in the RB's chest and making one read doesn't spark much excitement for me. I love Barkley but we already saw the 2000 yard season, not sure there is anything new he can do.Basically the offense to me...just win in a boring fashion...but the defense i can't wait to see make plays. That's the winning formula I see with this team...as the roster has been built since 2021.

You practice, you do it again over and over and 1 day it all just "clicks" I remember the whole band just stopped at the end of the song and we said nothing we just looked at each other. We smiled. We shook our fists. Why? Because we knew we had a band, not just any band a REAL band, a powerhouse. It's so very hard to explain that instant. Maybe others on here have felt that. but it's the point you try to get to. Once you hit that point, you know you are in a brotherhood, where all for 1 is real. A band may consist of 4,5,6 members. I can't imagine doing this with 53, but that is what Siri does. "Invisible progress" really sums up making it through the struggles. I'm really excited about this team. The added over the middle shots set up well for Lemon to have a super rookie season. He has traits like JJ. I'm hoping for 800 yards for Lemon. He has a talent for making guys miss so additional yards should be there. Bark and Tank offer a very solid run combo. Hurts as usual doesn't need to be great, just efficient. This defense has the chance to be the best D in Eagles history. If this clicks early I see no reason we can't go deep into post season. Siri's hire of Mannion could keep us in contention for many years
July 21Jul 21 Author I'm waiting for camp news, which includes possible injuries and bi lines, and I could adjust this later as I see fit, but right now I'm looking at 11 wins, so 11-6 not set in stone, but an initial starting point. Of course staying health is the top priority as it is every year, but like everyone I am anxious to get some "news to use". Theories and conjectures will either die on the vine or be bolstered soon. I hope Bark and Tank can split more reps extending the careers of both, keeping that tread on the tires. Damion Pierce was a hot commodity in his rookie year who fell off the map. if he can revive anything, this is the time. Mitchell was also solid once, so keeping Ship is not a given. I see we decided to go with Elliott again. He best not let us down as he has been doing. he should have ample chances to put points up for us. 1 more week until camp opens. The guys seem excited to get started on this new offense

July 21Jul 21 Short version to describe things across any team….or broken down in phases….is it’s a symbiotic relationship going on. Pass rush can aid the coverage..and vice versa coverage gives that extra second for the rush. Stopping the run forces passing.

July 21Jul 21 Next level of play is putting your opponent into conflicts. Then look to create turnovers. You see when Coop gets a turnover he’s looking for a huge return.
July 21Jul 21 Jalen Hurts is the only quarterback in NFL history to throw over 100 touchdowns and fewer than 45 interceptions in his first 82 career starts. Courtesy of Roob
July 21Jul 21 On Oct. 1, 2001, Brian Mitchell became the first NFL player since 1939 to rush for 100 yards on just two carries. In the late stages of a 38-10 blowout of the Falcons at the Vet, Andy Reid gave Duce Staley the rest of the game off and let Mitchell – the Eagles’ punt returner play a little running back. On his first carry, he ran 20 yards to set up a Donovan McNabb TD pass to Charles Johnson and on the second he ran 85 yards for a TD. Roob delivering some good stats

Here the contrasting key issues with Saquan. He is the rare back that thrives with a heavy workload. Probably relies on a heavy workload in fact. But we really mostly need him being at his best at the end.

I know many fans will hate the idea of almost purely just saving Saquan for postseason production. But….there is a strong case to be made for doing as close as possible to effectively prioritizing just having him in best condition possible at the end. If you could choose:A) Barkley huge regular season grabbing a higher seed…but banged up for crucial end season games and postseason.B) Rely on Saquan to buoy for the start in this drastically differing fresh installing an actual O scheme regular season. While purposely cutting back on utilizing him around midseason. Let’s say this strategy leads to lowest playoff seed even.

July 21Jul 21 The Eagles are an NFL-best 30-13 on the road under Nick Sirianni, a .698 winning percentage. This is the Eagles’ 2nd-best five-year road stretch ever. From 2000 through 2004, they were 30-9 (.769) on the road under Andy Reid. Share the Roob

Help get over the learning curve lumps and humps. But…similar to last season….just really need top guys healthy at the end being my highest priority. Didn’t have as tough a season last year as the physically abusive championship season run. But everybody seemed to be paying the tolls for it last season. That’s why I believe it was wise strategy to just cut back as much as possible on Hurts abuse exposure. Win ugly I’m fine with. Hurts going into the postseason like The Collapse season opposite of my logic. AJ knocked out in meaningless(mostly) last regular season game along with a couple others. Hurts gets beat up going into the postseason game that day…for no reason. Mind you…this is all at the end of a whole Collapse going on for weeks with Hurts getting blitz abused weekly. No answers or adjustments from Patullo and Siri. What I refer to as ‘The Usual.’
July 22Jul 22 Really believed Lane was being saved deliberately for the playoffs last season. But turned out he just couldn’t suit up still the entire time. Was actually crediting Siri with some brains and strategy undeservedly there.
