Added on to the current deal ...including the 5th year option next year.So not including this year....starting next year it's 5 years $179 mil.$35.8 mil per.Doing it early allows them to lower next years cap hit which was $27.1 mil of all salary.Be interesting to see... he may not hit a $30 mil cap hit until 2029.So the leak was correct then

Way to go Howie

Even CRAP reporters get it right once in awhile

July 28Jul 28 Carter finally getting paid at least the speculation we wanted to trade him can be put to rest
July 28Jul 28 With Carter and Davis paid this does seem like the final year for Ojomo can’t image we pay all 3 guys. Also think Ojomo will fetch a decent payday in free agency so good comp pick should be coming our way

He has only completed 3 seasons, going into the 4th.Isn't it customary for the majority of 1st rounders to play out their 4th season, or partially until they get an extension on the 5th year option?Didnt age well

Since he played well, and along with his age(youth), unless he totally blew his physical(there's the plus 3), it seemed obvious to me. So 1+3=2 and all that was left was the amount his agent would accept on his behalf. The kid's not going to go broke anytime soon. Glad it got done and there is no "drama"
July 29Jul 29 4 hours ago, Bleedinggreen93 said:Carter finally getting paid at least the speculation we wanted to trade him can be put to restAgreed, he would have been the only distraction via contract. They showed they want him, first denying Cleveland from getting him in a possible trade for Garrett. Clearly making it known he was off limits. Extending the 5th year option and now extending him 4 more years. I believe he is the only one extended that far at the moment. Next year they do the same with Mitchell and they can extend him to 2032.

Glad it got done and there is no "drama"I think we see the trend.... exercise the 5th year option and then extend from that point... this way the player gets their money 2 years early but the cap hits really get spread out and further down when the cap goes up.Nolan Smith had his 5th year option exercised, they were offering him to Cleveland for Garrett... but I think were fine seeing him play out the contract since the cap hit isn't as bad due to being pick 31.
July 29Jul 29 Carter contract puts pressure on the Cowboys and Rams. Cowboys moved Parsons favoring Quininen Williams. No way they make that huge whole move without signing Quinnen for the long term.
