OK so now you are shifting into harms way mode? How is playing snaps in a meaningful game slowing his development?

You have 3 top WR's and you can [place them wherever you want. Do you not place them at the points that give you the most yardage and TD's? Bad example…since JJ I would think thrives in the slot the most. But I am seeing your point you are leading towards. I don’t view WR position equal to the CB position first off. But you see zero issue if we had S depth but not CB if that forced us playing Dawkins as a CB instead of S? I mean there has to be some balance to this. I’m more accepting of moving guys for team need that aren’t special players. You need to field a whole team out there, I get. But still a side of me that thinks having a player like Dawkins utilized to his fullest also is what makes the team and D better.

August 13, 20242 yr Like we don’t have a third WR. So should we take our best RB, Saquan and put him at WR since we have more RB depth? Saquan would probably also be the third best WR on our team.

August 13, 20242 yr Author So DeJean has much better size to play the slot and I believe he ends up there, but he is not available and the season is starting,so you play who you have

He can still learn things there and will have that knowledge when we move him out,or he becomes a stellar slot coverage man. Either way the ultimate goal is success as a team.

Long term or short term is really what we’re talking about. You’ve always leaned towards a much more short term approach than me as it is really.

Can Q cover JJ in the SLOT? NO,not if he never learns to play the slot and that';s the point

Well really you’re leaving out the bigger pieces of the puzzle. DeJean is fifth CB right now. The bigger pieces are that Ringo and Rodgers are playing tough ball outside at CB. Those two are really looking good right now. Personally I’ve always been real high on Ringo. I think this kid can really be our outside CB for years. But they might start this season with Rodgers and Slay outside instead of our two long term outside CBs in Ringo and Q.

Slay won't be around forever so indeed Howie DID plan for the future?

The value in a lockdown shutdown CB is his coverage. Not the LB part of the Slot job.
August 13, 20242 yr Author Look at GB at QB-win NOW and plan for the future. ARod had to sit behind Favre, Love had to sit behind ARod. You can win now and still have a future plan. You don't give up your current season for your future plans because the owners want to WIN NOW
