"I thought he did well. He played both nickel and outside corner. He’s a good player and he’s going to be a good player. We just have to be careful not to overload his plate too much because nickel is a full-time position as well as corner is, and he’s having to learn both right now and they are two drastically different positions.”

Those were the words of Philly's defensive coordinator, In other words, the plan is to let Quinyon focus on playing one primary position.

"We may have to play him at nickel.”

another key quote from Fangio’s presser

I look at preseason and camp.... if I had to compare to real life.... say you hire a contractor to do work around the house.... they need building permits and hours of learning etc.

Do we need to watch the secretary filing for permits or the worker learning how to apply their craft?  Or do we watch as they actually do the job?

The season for us starts in Brazil... this time is for the team to get all their stuff prepared, not for us.

Philly voice claims  Eagles need to make a move for a third WR

As GB and I were discussing back in May.  It's absolutely a possibility that the main 3rd WR isn't on the roster.

Still a veteran out there that is unsigned.

So not exactly ideal to not have our first round pick play outside CB which we drafted him to play. Sounds like the decision has already been made to play him in the slot this season.

I mean... isn't the idea to get your best unit on the field?  If the best unit has him in the slot,  why not play him there?

Sounds like an all in move.

So we are using Q in the Slot out of need and to get our best combination out there according to Fangio.

Sounds less than ideal way to start our first round picks career honestly. Focused more on team than individual here. Is what it is.

Interesting how Vic talks about not overloading a rookies plate. Sounds very familiar like what I’ve been saying and you, No Mas, have been denying as relevant.

Cooper DeJean has been activated.

They should work him back easy…just going to really burn me if they mess around and have him plagued by this hamstring half the season.

DeJean hamstring injury sounded like it was of the more severe nature. That’s what has me feeling more reserved about him getting back into action. But said he wasn’t getting fully involved in joint practice or anything today. So hopefully they don’t rush things for a player we know is making the team.

Those are the 2 best memories from this gawdawful Olympics. That one and the guy from Turkey that got 2nd in shooting(which was truly AMAZING)

I loved how our guy…I think it was the 800 M race….announcers totally noticed he looked out of steam and was falling back…just dug deep and kicked it into gear came from behind to win. Just really showed such heart.

Also thought our B-Ball team with that huge comeback was impressive heart of champions to refuse to lose.

Women’s soccer team just really absolutely fantastic to watch…as always!

Surfing was just massive! That wave is absolutely insane! You get caught you hit a dry reef. You make it out you just had the ride of your life!

DeJean can't play slot because he is injured and now falling behind the learning curve. We don't know if this is a "fluke" or if he is injury prone,so with the season approaching it would seem wise to CYA?

Uh isn't that the point of playing for the Lombardi? He's on a 5 year and learning another position will only make him more valuable later. I'm sure he can remember how to play CB LOL when Slay hangs it up

Yeah they were down 17 with 1 1/4 left.

It's still stupid to count UP with no real knowledge of when the game ends. Really moronic and needs changed to a countDOWN. If you have penalties minutes you add it on after regulation expires. SO say 90 mins is up, Game stops, officials say we have 6 mins and 14 seconds of penalties. Set the clock and go at it. Much more dramatic

The original master plan was Q outside and DeJean in the slot. Ringo and Rodgers are both looking like they are ready to play ball though. Both only outside CB options it appears. Like you note DeJean got injured. So we’ll take what’s supposed to be our twelve year shutdown island CB and start him the slot out of team need.

All in

Slay can’t make it through a whole season at a high level….I think we all realize. So the situation will change. Ringo and Rodgers outside once Slay shows signs of wear and tear this season with Q in the Slot. But either of those guys also get injured Q will be moved right outside and DeJean will takeover Slot duties. Two CB injuries away from happening…but not a far fetched scenario.
