He said "I will play wherever they want me to play". The kid is a competitor and just wants to play-ANYWHERE. I love the kids attitude. And I read where he is ticked off at being behind the learning curve. He's smart,he will get caught up. he just needs to get on the field. The coach of Iowa said if he would have stayed they wanted to also use him on OFFENSE

When over and over predraft the hypotheticals about whether we should draft DeJean with our first round pick kept being discussed….my question was can he be a quality outside Cb? So I’m very consistent here on this subject clearly. Because you pigeon hole everything. The priority is winning. And developing football players to be the best players they can be You specifically have this obsession with a lock down outside CB. Today's game you have to cover the entire unit, not just an outside guy. If you want him to be lock down...then he needs to be able to play everywhere to follow that WR all over the field. Nothing wrong with him getting as much playing time as possible while being part of the best unit we have. I thought great coaches adapt to their players? Seems like Fangio is doing that...but yet you have a problem with it because you have a specific agenda. Suck it up...I have to watch the read option play all the time...you can watch Mitchell in the slot.

Revis is just one of the most notable examples for everyone to understand my point though obviously. Wow Mitchell is already hall of famer...manhandling WRs. Good to know.

DeJean injury along with Rodgers and Ringo balling out has created the situation of taking our best outside CB and playing him out of position…inside. Heck Fangio even admitted he didn’t even know if Q could man the Slot. So it clearly wasn’t why we drafted him for.

Why does it matter who covers where.... just get them all covered with our best unit. The best unit to get to the QB... the best unit to cover everything...and the best unit to stop the run. That's all I'm looking for.
August 13, 20242 yr Author Anyway,I'm fine with letting Q get his feet wet covering NON top WR's(GL covering JJ in the slot). If he is solid there, then we can test him outside at his natural position. he can pay his dues like every other rookie.

As joe said it's about the UNIT all together, overall

But I guess we’ll put Lockdown Q Island on hold for the betterment of the team right now. Not am important job we want Q excelling in for years to come anyway.
August 13, 20242 yr What position was Dickerson when we drafted him.... now that he is like the best LG in football...should we move him back there? Because it was the " master plan"? Maybe SF should have played Lance at QB....after all "the master plan" probably wasn't to give up all those picks for Lance and then start Mr. Irrelevant?
August 13, 20242 yr Author 2 UNITS we are weak on 1) Receivers TE2/3 and slot and DEPTH BU's 2) LB You place the individuals in the spots that make up the best UNIT

You don’t see any issue with not having a top CB taken in the first round specifically to be a great outside CB …not full time train to become that….and do that. I realize you don’t get it.
August 13, 20242 yr Author IDK in music I started out on piano. I was ok. Then I took up drums and I was better at that, then I picked up a bass and self taught myself out of a book. 4 years later I was listed in Scene magazine as one of the top 10 best bassists in Ohio,so should I have gone back to piano? Let Q pay his dues like I had to in music

August 13, 20242 yr This whole idea of pigeon holing yourself to a " master plan" from March is ridiculous. Then why would they put in all the work in the offseason ... camp...preseason...etc. if they already know what works best? Just crazy. You don't hand people jobs if your team is all in. " put on hold Q being a lock down outside CB for betterment of the team" ... lol Planet Ham at its finest. The team is trying to win now... only you can't see it because you fall in love with certain players or have a " master plan from before" Everything is fluid, teams need to be able to adjust on the fly.
