That’s a pretty interesting thought. Against Green Bay. Several people are calling an NFC contender this season. So a loss week one could factor heavily into playoff seeding. Could be the difference in the 2 seed versus the 3 seed if you are of mind like No Mas and FL thinking we are above a 10 win team. That one game could mean traveling to Green Bay for the winter playoff game instead of at home.

I'm thinking 12 but it's only a guess/assumption. Bark should have a career year behind the best O line(even with the departures) he has ever played behind. DSmith(who could be a 1 anywhere) will have the chemistry down better with Hurts. AJ already has it. Due to using Goedert correctly,he will have a much better year than last year with the misuse of the position. With Bark(and yes Gains) as well as better play calling the threat of pass catching RB's out of the backfield is as high as I have ever seen it(in theory) Still struggling with TE 2 and finding the future slot guy. Cuts will be made so we can plow more  attention into the guys we keep and I fully suspect the slot guy will be better than Quez regardless of who that will be. Our secondary has to be better than last year,I don't see how it could be worse. The LB's have another year under their belt and have a better coach now. The S's have some experience now. Pass rush we'll see if that heat gets turned up with additional blitzing which we rarely have done. All the D collectively should get the ball back more for the offense(in theory) Reports from camp are saying Hurts has improved tremendously and is having his best camp ever, which is what MOST of us needed to hear. We cannot rely on the Tush Push and frankly there is no reason you take 4 downs to go 10 yards with the talent we have. There is no excuse for it. New offensive schemes using MOTION(which was all but non existent before). I can't believe this team will be 1 game WORSE than last year. I'm counting on 1 game BETTER. 12 wins is my GOAL

So how significant are you predicting this first game versus Green Bay is then FL? (Or obviously anybody) If Green Bay wins the North over Detroit and we win the East…this week one game is the tiebreaker between us.

Does this week one game become the difference in a home playoff game or not? That is easily conceivable that we are on a collision course with the Packers this season. If you believe 12 wins it’s more than just conceivable …it’s flat out probable.

Haven’t heard any of us think anything less than our team needs to win our division this year. The bigger question mark lies with can Green Bay win the North. Bears look good. Lions are very legitimate contenders. But I’ve seen a few pick Green Bay as their SB favorites this season. So me thinking they’ll win the whole enchilada while others think they’ll get to the big game to fall to KC.

Playing in preseason would be nice but it doesn't justify losing a vital player in a meaningless game.

I'd rather lose the first game if that is what it takes

Makes me recall my feelings of how several of our players even got injured in the last game of the season heading into the playoffs. I was against playing our key players in that game. Thought that single move by Siri should have meant he was fired. Worst most injury prone field in the league in the Meadowlands. AJ hurt where he missed the playoff game. Blankenship got injured. Hurts dislocated his finger. Sidney still is trying to recover. Two other players got injured I’m forgetting this second even. Such a dumb coaching decision there.

Week 1 is usually a crap shoot where alot of upsets can happen. Love looks good, they have good WR's. New RB in the backfield like we have. Not even in the US has to be fun for the players. Their defense is good. They have had the coaches(OC/DC) in place awhile, ours are both new. Our O line will be tested. I hope theirs will be too. Hurts much better at scrambling away from trouble than Love. Hurts needs to AVOID running left which they should try to force. Love not all that mobile. I think the key is to get to him all game and harass him as much as possible. I'm glad to see Fangio using blitzes. not many teams have ever experienced that much from us-refreshing. You saw Q on a blitz and if DeJean can play even a few snaps,it would not shock me to see him used in a blitz package. The kid is big and fast. He could be very disruptive. Some keys for me will be that pass rush/harassment of Love and covering Musgrave their TE. We need Hurts to exploit the middle of the field.something he has rarely done.Last year we had no one to do that because Goedert was misused and we had no slot threat) . So just for me personally it will come down to the trench war and tight coverage on all receivers. The other question I have is can the O line open holes for Bark? I mean bark can get 2-3 yards if they can't but I'm looking at the O line consistently getting him to the 2nd level. Should be a terrific close game IMO 27-24 Eagles on a last play kick by Elliott. First team to lose the butterflies will have the advantage in the first 1/4. Siri needs to get them fired up BUT be relaxed and confident. Love to see DSmith out of the slot a few times with whomever we put outside on that play running a slant. What does everyone else see?

Funny how the Hurts Haters make sure they don’t mention week 18 in their rants blaming Hurts for the playoff beat down we absorbed. Can’t even remember a Hurts hater once even typing or saying the words about Hurts dislocated finger pointlessly the week before. Like it never even existed because if it did the coaching would have to take some blame…and the QB would have quite a bit more pretext/context surrounding events that took place. You know doesn’t fit the Hurts Hating agenda to actually acknowledge all that stuff happened in the meaningless week 18 game against us….just focus on the bad results in TB works much better for them.

BTW Siri still lacks on adjusting on the fly. Fangio and Moore have done that before,Siri needs to listen to them. First drive is always important to establish dominance. I am hoping Hurts is a more capable passer in a shoot out if necessary. I think we can grind them on the ground early, get that D line worn down, they will try the same with us

I’m seeing real potential issues with our Oline opening holes inside on the Pack. I’ve been mentioning wanting to trade for their second or third string Nose. Tells you enough about their stoutness there. I like Saquan…but you could easily argue they upgraded better with Jacobs at RB. They took that stud LB I liked high in the draft.

Wondering if Trotter is good enough to play with the 1's

I’m seeing us have issues covering TEs. But they don’t have a real threat there, right? So that part helps us.

Bark new here also,it's all about fit and the O lines. Jacobs is a fine RB. CJG was a helpful addition,Blank playing well. We need to stuff the WR's. We can't play 12 yards off them, they will kill us. Watson needs to be blanketed

Musgrave is solid, not as good as Goedert, that is 1 facet we can exploit

He had that play this past game snuffed out in the backfield but missed the tackle and finish. Think Q did similar with the QB on his blitz. Those two plays in PS game 2 are pretty much exactly highlighting my concerns going into this week one matchup. Film study and inter squad practicing pulling up instead of finishing tackling to the ground ….aren’t  good habits needed to be broken jumping into actual game action. No more pulling up avoiding touching the QB. Time to kill the QB. But has to be done so dang surgically with the rules these days. Clearly can’t do anything remotely close to what Nolan did by jumping up and putting his head into the QBs head.

Missing TE 2 is still an issue for me

That whole switch needs to be flipped to what you do in actual games.

Is that the question? Or is it: do we have two better options than Trot at LB to start?

He's a rook making rook mistakes. he is learning. Better doing this in pre and learning before hitting the big leagues

Your plan is have Becton, the guy throwing up at several practices, to wear them down week one? LOL

Yes it's a question. Is he good enough? We can't have sketchy play vs the Pack, they will find and exploit weakness

I don't care what he does after the game why do you?

Our guys haven’t been playing. Football conditioning and shape is a real question mark for our guys. Lifting weights and running on the treadmill doesn’t get you in football shape…it’s just the starter tool to get players there.

They played 80 snaps at the joint practice? That doesn't get anyone in football shape?

We still have time to go yet. I doubt we put anyone on the field who is fat, slow and weak LOL
