Everyone now going to get top O line to replicate the tush push LOL.It's coming can we defend it as well as run it? We opened a can of worms by overusing it(1 of the 8 plays we ran)

It’s becoming illegal this offseason, watch

I actually think The Brotherly Shove wasn’t a great play for us. I think it exposed our players too much. Think it was a factor wearing down our Oline and QB. Took on way too much abuse running that play.

Guys like Fields run because they have to. I count Fields as a running QB also because they can burn you with their legs. Foles couldn't do that,he was too slow

Foles used to play basketball. He was an athletic QB. He could run out and make that catch Brady couldn’t.

So by your standard Jackson is not a running QB either

Depends how we are describing a running QB I think. Obviously Lamar can run and they design plays to use his legs… But he does crap behind the line more and look to pass instead of just taking off and running when the first or maybe 2nd option isn’t there

It's a thin line between "running QB's" and "QBs who can run". if my QB can get 70 yards a game on the ground then he is a running QB IMO. Allen can also run,so just depends on your definition and we all have different ones

This is why I’m asking the question because it isn’t wrong… if I was asked I’d describe a running QB as someone who’s first instinct is to run… I think a guy like Lamar has gotten a lot better at waiting for the pass to develop instead of just taking off running but obviously is still a dangerous runner as well.

I’d honestly say Lamar is about as close to the perfect dual threat QB as you can get in the nfl

And I'm saying our opinions differ, leave it at that

If Mahomes was slower would he be a running QB?

I would try to pry Wannstedt out of retirement. He is some kind of "analyst" somewhere. We could use the experience

Be interesting to see how the coaching hires play out obviously we will be told it was all Siri decision publicly…. But I think depending on the hires we could see the Howie/Lurie influence on the hires more or less saying this is who you are getting

No,but he isn't slower.KC just gives him more opportunities to pass because he isnt pressured. Give him a crap O line like carolina's and he will run because he has to

Mahomes has had some bad OL in the past the one SB I remember him running for his life a ton when they lost to the rams I think…. But he still never really looked to run first was always looking to pass

Mahomes really isn’t all that fast though think he is agile and shifty though…. Just for perspective Mahomes ran a 4.8 40 the same time as Peyton Manning

Being coached by AR had plenty to do with things if you ask me.

I would even look at 'assistants" from the Colts. Their O will be nice when Richardson returns

Jim Bob Cooter has been linked to us though I found it odd since it is a sideways move since he is the OC already for Indy.

The only reason I could think he would take the job is for play calling

Yeah, they said Siri and Howie were "shopping together" which means Howie will tell Siri who he is getting lol

Both of their jobs should be on the line big time over the situation. They both need to come up with big time needle moving coordinators to continue on here.

So then there are no running QB's because they all look to pass first except maybe Hurts

I think lot of QB start off as running QB until they develop Fields, Lamar, Hurts, Cam think natural progression is they start to lean away from the run first mentality and look to become more pass first guys. Again doesn’t mean they can’t still run though.

Then the league changed the rules to officiate Mahomes differently giving him the Brady treatment. Pretty much impossible for their Oline to be guilty of holding calls.

We are interviewing Ron Rivera for our DC job

Experienced coach has HC experience, and DC experience

Agree....this is by far Lamar's best year as being a real QB not just a running one.

Hurts I feel has excellent accuracy on the short ball...  but I watch the instincts in the pocket.... how often do you...or even last year not just this year... did you see Hurts step up in the pocket... to create a passing lane for himself.  Using the mobility to do so.   His instinct is to back up and go around.  Which sets up the run, not so much put him in position to pass.    Lamar...credit to BG...this year he has stepped up a lot in the middle and held back on running and thrown a lot of passes instead.

Hurts goes around... and then looks like he wants to run...and then just doesn't.. or you see the quick slide.

Something that's telling...running QBs take that one or two yard loss going out of bounds... instead of throwing it away...that's the instinct ...run first, all the way until the play is over... Mahomes, Allen etc... they dump that ball out of bounds at the last second... being a passer first mentality.

There were huge chunks of the season the commentators laughed at the predictability of Hurts and our O. They would just over and over again point out his Hurts would escape the pressure to reset giving time for the long developing routes to finally play out for him to pass it to them.

This was our O for the whole first half of the season.

I'm sorry, when your star WR gets 8 yards in ANY game, there is something seriously wrong with your QB. Nobody should totally shut out AJ

This happens to everybody at some point during the season. A.J. is so deadly on those quick hitting plays. A quick slant and such. Catch and run. I almost exploded the very few times we called this play for him. Each time believing maybe the coaches finally got it. Only to fall back into the same rut instead.

Derrick Gunn

@RealDGunn

All indications are Brian Johnson will not be returning as the Eagles OC …. He will land elsewhere in some offensive capacity …h

Been a HC since 2011. Any chance if we hire him he doesn’t take over HC duties at some point during the season?

The play vs Tampa... TD pass to #13.... best play of Hurts career showing the skills of doing adult QB things. Patience,  stepping up in the pocket...delivering a dime between defenders for a TD....to his 4th or 5th read.

Bottle that play up...show him that all offseason.   That's adult level QB.  Do that consistently ... doesn't matter what they throw at you.

Hurts gives us those brilliant plays, then takes a safety from TB. No consistency whatsoever

If we completely tank and fire Siri at some point during the season good chance Ron would then assume the HC mantle.

This does feel a lot like a possible Jim Schwartz hire for Doug though could end up leading it more dysfunction

WOW plays, then back to bogus bonehead plays

Bummer to lose Brian Johnson as QB coach. You know he’s a guy Hurts trusts. Became a problem having him as OC in such a stale O. Really put Hurts in a bind. Hard to trash your family friend you’ve known all your life.
