We were never going into the over 100 degree heat so short handed against one of the most problematic coaches for us. Nobody here seems to consider my idea of just taking the L. Rest our starters and have the bye week also to be at our best week 6.
October 7, 20242 yr Other sports it’s done. Basketball and baseball key guys take games off. More games I guess it’s easier to think along bigger picture lines for many. In those sports they look at coming out of the next seven games at 5-2. Managing the players and matchups along with the injury situations.
October 7, 20242 yr Instead …like week 18 last season….didn’t heal up our injured players…except the ones not suiting up forcefully with really not much of a decision to be made(Sidney Brown maybe forgotten by some in all this but a factor. AJ maybe could have made the terribly risky bad bet of forcing him back…or Lane could have made a huge risky gamble forcing him back).   Both games week 18 and week 4 now…..team wasn’t ready to play ball. Even trying to force playing a bad hand for minimal gain….you should be doing it with having your team fired up to overcome adversity. Think like our SB winning team mentality. But both times our team came to the game already accepting the loss. Neither game did they come to actually win. At that point the decision should have been a no brainer…rest your key players. Live to fight another day.  Instead….our guys got punished. Not rested and healed up healthier. Beat up and limping. Mentally just tons of doubt was enabled to flourish. Got humiliated and beat up! Everybody questioning everything(except FL who only blames Hurts for all problems).

Hopefully they came up with the conclusion to run the ball more ... earlier and more often. Â

Gotta do that! Changes everything. The Oline isn’t just on the heals backing up against a D Teeing off on the pass rush. Plus I believe very much in the physical limitations and effectives that occur during a game. Beating them up early wears them down of the course of the game. Making the DBs tackle has effects so very often during games. Details! The hidden benefits of how that fast smaller coverage CB plays after he gets in that collision of the physicality of football. Really applies to every player on the field.Â
October 7, 20242 yr Can’t think of anybody that should be more aware of the philosophy in football of if you hit the QB it has large effects on the game…than Eagles fans. Been our D approach the whole time I’ve been a fan. That hitting the QB can cover for weakness in the backend, create turnovers and force that player to make bad decisions. Being aware of the results we’ve generated for decades by focusing on doing exactly that. Sure you just want a sack. You just want to rush a throw before the play opens up. But it’s so much more than that. That after a QB gets hit a time or two….he maybe stares at the rush a bit more. Maybe rushes a pass. Makes a flat out bad decision. The exact opposite of comfortable confident and making his best decisions.   I don’t think there is anything anybody on this particular board here would even question or have any argument about. Big assumption from me I know. But as Eagles fans nobody believes in this more than we have and do. So why then wouldn’t this be understood by everybody here if things were the opposite? Eagles have lived by this understanding. Any other team fans I could give more leeway to them not thinking or understanding this factor of football.Â

The D and the fact we don’t have a strong pass rush roughing up opposing QBs? Or our O and the fact that our QB has been taking a beating the last two seasons?

October 7, 20242 yr Whatever the game plan would be for a backup QB... run that plan. Conservative...keeping the downs manageable. Simple concepts.
October 7, 20242 yr The D….we have some youth to believe in growth. Bryce isn’t even very old. Nolan has nothing but tons of growth potential. Jalyx is the very definition of all the potential risk in the world but not ready today. Bryce I never was sold on. Had a career year in a great scheme surrounded by talented players. He’s a product of all that more than his greatness creating it. Nolan is tough for me. Kid has a great mentality. I believe he works hard and doesn’t quit with his relentless motor. If a backside rusher is going to chase down the play….he’s your guy. Lacking experience I’ll give him that excuse. No idea why he didn’t play so much more last season. We ran our guys into the ground even. So totally overused our top guys to where they didn’t have any gas left in the tank to finish the season AND didn’t gain Nolan and some other young guys any experience. Something our established HC should easily have not let occur. We had no reason to fall victim to this with having Rosie so unbelievably established. Easier to understand and reason why so many other coaches and GM are forced to make these bad franchise decisions because they don’t have job security. Can’t say any other team’s GM has the kind of security that Rosie has with us(ok maybe the Cowboys situation is the tops as far as job security for the GM). They killed our short view season by wearing out our players and failed to help the future of the franchise with what they did last season. Wearing out Reddick, Sweat, Slay, Bradbury, Byard….veterans with no future for our franchise. Slay had one more season…two if everything went perfect…but not the future. For me Slay went past his prime about five games into 2022. Really was very glaringly obvious. Reddick Rosie already had made the decision he wasn’t going to pay him….just use him for a second season. Sweat Rosie had also already decided he wasn’t a part of our future. Pretty sure he’s was always gone….until Rosie maybe had his first revelation about how he maybe had screwed up. That Sweat wasn’t the answer…..but if his other high priced decisions were wrong….Sweat would be a very crucial needed backup plan. Even if Rosie never had any realization or doubts about his decisions….actually extremely likely….Nolan, Bryce and Jalyx weren’t strong run defenders. You can timeline when each of these moves actually happened. Like keeping Sweat happened way before we drafted Jalyx. But I believe Rosie already was working from the understanding of he was booting Reddick, paying Bryce and drafting Jalyx(Nolan was obviously the first round pick just last season). So the Rosie was working from building this team around all this personnel understanding a long long time ago. Before they actually signed their contracts(with Reddick it’s the opposite of not signed the contract).

But see that’s where we’ve butted heads arguing…on WR strength. You always tout the top two WR as the greatest WR corps in the league. I noted how that isn’t a complete WR room. I did have the foresight to consider injuries in football. But even with the top two healthy? We should reap the benefits of any other capable WR thriving. That versus almost every opponents weakest coverage DB and Safeties forced to focus elsewhere that should be an absolute cake job. Think we’ve both been looking for more of the RB room involvement. You obviously have favored Gainwell. I liked the Shipley drafting. Regardless were built to get three RBs involved on any game. That’s with Saquan being a high workload starting RB even.
October 7, 20242 yr For me, without AJ It's hard to judge things the last 3 weeks offensively.  Except Barkley catching the ball = 3-1.  But he knows that...dude is a stud and a difference maker.  The thing is ...the #1 WR to me is the weapon that has the most effect on an offense. We get AJ back and see what happens. Lane as well... will make things easier on everyoneÂ

Then we can add in the motion etc.Â

Hurts running is definitely something that is his strength....nobody can deny that.  Other than that... from a tangible on the field perspective... idk what specific part of his game you would call a strength. I would have said his ability to protect the ball...but that isn't the case for quite some time now.  I still like his accuracy on the short throws. If we run...use his short throws and his threat if keeping the ball and running himself...then I think we can score enough with our talented weapons...and keep the defense off the field.

Idk...2019... 4000 yards passing in 16 games throwing to Greg Ward. I don't see that from Hurts.  Hurts is a runner... we need to keep the game in short yardage and use that threat. Otherwise if it's going to be a lot of passing...we are going to be in trouble. Then it becomes a game where he has to read defenses, coverages and blitzes... not his strengthÂ

This is where you are just driving Hurts Hater agenda. This isn’t the reasoning. The reasoning is because we are built to have the physical punch you in the mouth identity. We have Goedert that isn’t just some finesse pass catching TE. He’s a very quality blocker. Past seasons we utilized Stoll the TE that is only a blocking player. Brought in OZ as an upgrade at WR almost solely because of his blocking instead of what Quez brought to the team. But the heart of everything is Rosie philosophy and investment in Oline. It’s been consistently massive. Massive is a great way to describe our Oline players. All huge and strong. I haven’t done the research to back up that we have the largest Oline in the NFL….but I’m going to state it as fact anyway. Without doing any actual research….I’d go as far as to state we have the largest Oline in NFL history. I know Cam isn’t the biggest….but he is very strong. Heck Cam is big Oline compared to decades ago players. Mailata, Dickerson, Becton and Lane. Four of the biggest strongest Oline players in NFL history. Has any D in the history of the game been built to withstand that?

Team wasn’t ready to play. But the two games before that actually matter plenty. Last season with AJ our O overcame the lack of a quality scheme, playcalling or adjustments for up until the Niners game(jets game being the lone exception). But teams figured out how to stop us and limit AJ. Best NFL streak of what six games over 125 yards. That’s a QB/WR combination dominating and unstoppable! Your Hurts Hating agenda blinds you from crediting the QBs role in that. But there is no reasonable explanation that can be given to not acknowledge Hurts role in that success. In fact Hurts was leading MVP candidate after 11 weeks of last season. Think about that. Terrible coaching. No scheme. Yet he was QBing the number two O and MVP more than half of last season. What just not very good QB leads the second best O in the league? There was very clearly a moment of change. The exact thing you hated that was all I worried about during the 2022 season. Things can be going so fantastic….but if somebody finds the blueprint to stop it….that’s all it takes. I believe it came in pieces the blueprint to stop us actually. The league has found our ‘tell’ on when we’re running and RPO. But then the Niners broadcasted our limited predictable playbook. Unstoppable number two O with AJ breaking records for dominating every week was just halted. Â
October 7, 20242 yr So let me just be clear on Hurts isn’t perfect and played a role in things. But how do you explain him being the MVP leading the number two O after 11 weeks to….he just isn’t very good? It’s all because of Hurts stinks and is the weakness. How can any intelligent reasonable non agenda pushing fan develop this conclusion from what occurred?Â
October 7, 20242 yr Second voted MVP….should have been SB MVP in 2022. Leading MVP candidate past halfway of 2023 season. But your opinion is he just isn’t very good because what happened since you place the sole blame on him. Even trying to ridiculously overstate the rest of the team carrying him just isn’t a believable theory. I’ll grant you Hurts isnt Superman and needs help to succeed in this team game.Â

How could the QB running the second best O not belong even in the conversation for MVP?Â

Whether I agree or disagree with your viewpoints I at least can usually give you credit for why you reason seeing things in a different way. But this statement I can’t. I thought he WAS clearly the leading MVP candidate after 11 weeks. Not even believing he was playing his best football….which goes to show how great he really can be. But not even in the MVP conversation ….in a year with no others doing anything all that special….that’s just beneath you…that’s Hurts Hating…plain and simple.
