How could the QB running the second best O not belong even in the conversation for MVP?

He wasn’t good just like every other QB was terrible last year…. If your going to ask me who should have been in MVP conversation as you know MOST VALUABLE PLAYER not just QB

CMC, Tyreke and you could put AJ brown in their pretty sure that was during his stretch of what 4-5 games of 125+ yards or something

If we are talking last season never not once thought he belonged in the mvp conversation didn’t think a single QB outside of maybe Purdy should have been…. And don’t even think Lamar should have won it

So since this is your opinion. Do you believe Purdy is just the best QB? How did he get to be MVP level in your mind? For me…it’s an exact case study in what I try and bring up and discuss so often here. Think we all talk about the importance of talent surrounding QBs. He has that. I include the D as an important factor with the symbiotic relationship to the O. But the main factor I see happening with Purdy is coaching….scheme….play calling….adjustments.

I think Purdy last year had a case in MVP talks but I’ve been on record and stated numerous times I believe the MVP should have went to Tyreke Hill or CMC last season.

You gotta do better than this. I’m fine with you listing off nonQBs being more worthy. Not even going to argue against that point. But you said the number two O QB didn’t even belong in the MVP conversation. Almost not even possible. If you wish to change that to what you meant was you felt Hurts should have been ranked 6th instead of first? I can accept that…as your opinion. McCaffrey deserved the honor in my mind. But this is all some made up dreamland your trying to create to deny Hurts. MVP is a QB award. Is what it is….i didn’t create that fact.

I absolutely hate that the MVP has become nothing more than just the best QB award and it just neglects the other positions now.

I stand by that last year no QB really deserved the award

So you think Purdy is just that unbelievably great a player? That if he didn’t go to Shannan and the Niners where would you see him fitting in? Still MVP?

Because he didn’t I’ve said numerous times I’m unimpressed with the tush push TDS see that as more OL then Hurts though he gets the credit so that isn’t swaying me in his favor and he wasn’t lighting it up enough as a passer or a runner to sway things otherwise…. He had what 10 ints in 11 weeks nearly 1 a game and how many fumbles I’m sure there was handful???

But that is most valuable player worthy?????

Two different things here though. Because you do realize it’s a QB award. So how could Hurts not be even in the conversation after 11 weeks for it?
Your personal wishes of the MVP award actually representing the most valuable player is a seperate conversation and agenda for you. That part I’m with you on. So many much lesser football fans only view things based on the QB. Heck tv coverage focuses on the QB always. So driving the sport to the masses to make the billions….means the award goes to the QB. Heck you’d think the SB MVP would at least not so QB given in the one game performance. But it also fits the agenda of making money. Who’s going to Disneyworld?

I think your play is what decides things and last year his play was a huge factor for why they got to a SB. Whether he is great or not doesn’t factor into anything for me just what he did I a single season

Like saying would I see Hurts as an MVP in 2022 if he wasn’t with Steichen no I wouldn’t and the last two years have shown that

Because he didn’t belong in it are you dense can’t read???? Just because I know what the award is coming to doesn’t mean I agree with it clearly as I’ve stated no QB deserved the award and none should have been in it

If we want to go by the media and what they make the award yea Hurts was in the conversation for MVP through 11 weeks but then you always have to agree with the media takes that Hurts is now a turnover machine and a big part the our teams problem now….

You can’t just use the narrative one way

I gave you I didn’t even say he was playing his best football. He did have some turnovers. Once again though you are pushing your agenda on not crediting Hurts ability on converting short yardage. I also credit the Oline. But you gotta have both to run the play like we did. Best of the best DCs and players all knew…and even were told often from Kelce this play was coming…couldn’t be stopped. I don’t accept you not crediting Hurts role in the success.

I can use the narrative one way when it comes to the MVP award. Because that’s how and who gets the MVP award. Is what it is. I don’t have to accept every podcast guy with a microphones opinion about the game of football though.

I really don’t give two flying Fs of what you accept and don’t…. You won’t change my stance on it… it isn’t impressive by any standard by Hurts it is an OL play that it of the OL doesn’t get the right push it fails…

Of course you don’t want to accept the media opinion when it comes to the negative but don’t want to accept my take on not agreeing with the media on MVP

I think your making excellent point in your statements. I think it’s sloppy and lazy to just blame the QB…or credit him in this team sport.

I don’t think we are even disagreeing all that much actually. I’ll even grant you I’d say Dickerson is specifically the most important player individually on the play. That’s why teams and other coaches tried to highlight him lining up offsides. Then the refs even called him offsides…when he wasn’t…and the defender actually very clearly was.

I agree with your opinion on what the MVP award should actually be. But it isn’t. We both realize that. I don’t really go along with anybody else’s opinion on football. I do listen with an open mind and will accept others points of view on some good points. MVP award goes to the QB. They control that award. But positive or negative why do I need to accept media…or anybody else’s opinion on anything else?

Well….you haven’t made any real quality point to have this stance. Seems like you just don’t like the play being a part of football even. But I’m always here to call out anything that just isn’t accurate. Hurts clearly was in MVP conversation for more than half of last season…and he clearly was a big driving piece to The Brotherly Shove success.

Heck as much as I dog Siri….I’m at least fair and give him credit on the Brotherly Shove play. Believe he really dove into taking the play to a whole other level. Brought in rugby guy to improve it. Think that’s Siri’s biggest achievement….he perfected the short yardage QB sneak. Exactly a situation of a coach utilizing his personnel optimally.

So what happened after week 11? You say AJ and Hurts were MVP at that point. Unstoppable breaking records. You even acknowledge Hurts was turning the ball over. I agree with all that with you. But…I and the players were complaining before week 12. So can you really fairly believe it was just Hurts fault and play? If so(which we all know that viewpoint has been endlessly repeated)why?

I don’t mind the play at all think it’s great for the OL to get love for a dominate play… doesn’t mean I have to give credit to the QB for it think you put any QB behind our OL and they find similar success on that play.

To me the QB is the least deciding factor on that play you have given zero as to why Hurts deserves credit because he is pushing behind the OL with guys pushing behind him????

Sorry just nothing there that impresses me from the QB

Do I believe that turnovers play a massive factor in deciding games? Is that your question yes didn’t think we were going to sustain success with the rate we were turning the ball over same thing I was saying then and the same thing I say now.

And in 2022 I was talking multiple people playing sloppy terrible ball through the first 11 weeks but put talent let us overcome but wasn’t a a realistic way to keep winning

My opinion has been consistently since last season even…what was occurring and occurred. Nothing close to point the blame towards other than coaching. Unless you want to get to the further real root of Rosie setup and chose the whole coaching situation. Team…well that was not a word that felt applied to the 2023 Eagles. Even at 10-1. We came out of TC very unorganized. I always saw us as a bunch of talented individuals. No cohesion. No scheme. Limited playbook. No this play sets up this play later. No the use of AJ success to setup other facets of the O. Pretty much….coaching based on Hurts greatness at making the big plays….having AJ and Smitty to facilitate that. Siri preaches the big play factor. He’s clearly stated that’s the top think to decide games. So just street ball have Hurts avoid the rush and buy time for his top two weapons to beat double coverage or basically the S. Yeah Hurts held the ball. Hardly any timing or intermediate options were given…that’s decided by the coaching. Every time a quick slant to AJ was called ….name a time it didn’t work. No pick plays or much of any crossing routes. No motion …many times delayed timing the playcall even got in. To read a D….whats a better tool for any QB than time on the playclock and motioning a player to watch the Ds adjustment? But sticking to the point here….what changed?  The results were turnovers and losing. But those are the results….not the cause.
