I don’t mind the play at all think it’s great for the OL to get love for a dominate play… doesn’t mean I have to give credit to the QB for it think you put any QB behind our OL and they find similar success on that play.

To me the QB is the least deciding factor on that play you have given zero as to why Hurts deserves credit because he is pushing behind the OL with guys pushing behind him????

Sorry just nothing there that impresses me from the QB

Reasons to credit Hurts for the plays success is a layup. He’s not tall and lanky. He’s shorter and solid as a rock. Which is ideal for defenders to not have easy way to get at him.  Strongest QB I’ve ever seen. Jim Drunkmiller was a meathead big time weight lifter…deep dive ….but he wasn’t any good. Tebow was strong and well built for such a play also. But I believe Hurts is the prototype player for this play. His strength….he knows how to keep those legs churning…so very key. I also believe his determination is key. Hurts lives and breathes football. You can’t point to any person as being more competitive than Hurts. He has limitations and issues. But good luck putting pretty much any individual at the goaline and stopping Hurts. He sucks at getting down and sliding….but he’ll put his head down against a grizzly bear to win.

Easy Tom Brady

Do I believe that turnovers play a massive factor in deciding games? Is that your question yes didn’t think we were going to sustain success with the rate we were turning the ball over same thing I was saying then and the same thing I say now.

And in 2022 I was talking multiple people playing sloppy terrible ball through the first 11 weeks but put talent let us overcome but wasn’t a a realistic way to keep winning

Plenty of factors played a role in 10-1. But you state Hurts had turnovers and we were 10-1 anyway. All close games we won at the end with clutch play.
But again…think we are agreeing here more than disagreeing. Main disagreement revolving around our QB. You didn’t want to give him any credit towards MVP award or the Brothery Shove success. Even alluding to talent not including Hurts….like he was being carried by the rest of the franchise….that we got to 10-1.
I’m agreeing with the talented individuals overcoming lack of scheme or quality competent coaching. I’m very much including Hurts as that talent however. All of what he brings to the table. His play….his leadership…Will to win…..the whole team just believed in Hurts that whatever it came down to he refused to lose. Mentality is underestimated on this board. Heck it’s completely ignored and discredited as even being a factor. It was the key factor in starting 10-1. It wasn’t the talent assembled was so much greater than the rest of the league. Really pretty mid level talented roster. Dominating talent destroys a terrible pats team….doesn’t pull out the win at the end. Superior talent doesn’t go to OT versus the bad Commanders team.
Theory doesn’t add up….if we’re basing things on logic.

Yea it’s called getting low Brady did an excellent job at this and he is what 6’4 the other QB Wentz was also fantastic at this for a guy that was 6’5…

But none of this is telling me why I should be impressed with Hurts on the play

Picking the GOAT was a good choice by you. But the main reason he’d have to be more competitive than Hurts would revolve around his willingness to cheat. Pretty sure everybody now accepts that him and Bellicheat had early success based on Bellicheat’s endless data collection being paired with every form of cooperate espionage. If you want to say Brady’s a more fierce competitor because he would get the D playcalls from tapping into opponents headsets….getting spies to provide opponents gameplans….heck….he was taking the air out of the footballs on home games. Brady went further as a competitor ….on cheating to succeed….I’ll give you that. I’d rather be our SB losing Eagles that didn’t cheat losing by a field goal to the ultimate cheaters.

You’re adding words into my mouth to try and fit your narrative which is wrong…. No im Not impressed in the least by Hurts on the tush push put Brady, Cam, Wentz,Brees any QB that remotely knows how to QB sneak etc.they all going to have just as much success if not more on that play then Hurts and the reason why is the same reason Hurts is so successful the OL.

MVP he didn’t deserve credit toward the award in 2023 just like none of the other QBs didn’t deserve it.

Not once did I say he wasn’t talented or didn’t factor into us being 10-1 to start the year but was he part of the turnovers and sloppy play? Yes were we in so many close games because of that sloppy play yes…. Did I think it was an unrealistic way to sustain success yes.

The difference is really instead of me blaming the coaches I’m looking at the players playing sloppy ugly football and us overcoming games we likely shouldn’t have because of our superior talent but it was never a way for us to sustain success it was always going to crumble at some point

Absolutely super competitive guy. My first thoughts are Michael Jordan. But even with avoiding arguing for Hurts….im fine with it being very clear that you have to go to the most competitive person ever….to top our QB1. Brady perfected not taking the punishment. Which worked out brilliantly. Hurts will run through a brick wall.

Sorry ….when you said we succeeded because of talent…you were thinking of Hurts. Didn’t mean to put words in your mouth. But every other post you stated names…without Hurts being included.

I could have went with a ton of players Brady being the easiest

Could have went Ronnie Lott cut off the tip of his finger to play…. Could go Ray Lewis, Brain Dawkins, Jerry Rice, Matt Stafford, Brett Farve list can go on and on

See I’m seeing us agreeing…more than disagreeing. But feels to me like you are saying the same stuff as me. Our problem was sloppy play. I’m saying we came out of TC unorganized. Saying we had no scheme. Saying our playbook was limited. Predictable and stale O that coaching had zero adjustments for. Basically when the D knows your play….id say the percentage of success drops dramatically….the percentages of a turnover occurring rises dramatically. Not to say players don’t play there roles. Not all turnovers were to be blamed on the coaching situation. Hurts needs better ball security…especially when on the run.

Alex Sinlgeton our former LB that went to the broncos play an entire game this year with a torn ACL

It’s like this….when Bellicheat and Brady tapped into the headsets and paired with their stolen playbooks figuring out the play…notice how much more it occurred later in games…did that create any competitive advantages?

Please find me a post that said we succeeded going 10-1 last year because of another player since I stated names

Remember Heinz Ward I think they said never had an ACL or something crazy. I liked rooting for that guy. Underdog. He played physical and intimated players. Problem was his big hits were occurring five yards past the first down marker. Super gutsy and most likely hard core painkillers enabled him…but he never did rely on any quality speed.

You did list off talented players …but didn’t include Hurts. Clearly didn’t include him as being a reason for success in the Brotherly Shove. By I’m perfectly happy to redact that thought…if with all you’ve stated…if I went too far with assuming you weren’t including Hurts talent as part of the talent that lead to 10-1. Felt like what you were alluding to….but my fault and I apologize for a bad assumption then.

I stated I thought AJ should have been in the MVp talks he was on a ridiculous tear to start the season in those 11 weeks

I said the OL deserved credit for the tush push

just because I don’t think Hurts was playing at an MVP level and he isn’t to credit for the tush push isn’t me saying he wasn’t a factor in us going 10-1 your adding your own narrative

You also made it very clear you didn’t think Hurts deserved to be in any MVP conversation after 11 weeks. Bunch of collective statements alluding to my assumption….but probably some of it being FL and No Mas statements mistakenly mixed in with just your viewpoint. Which is all I’ve been really trying to clarify….is what do you think? You’re entitled to your opinions with me….but I’m obviously going to challenge any conclusions or opinions i see differently…especially if they can’t be backed up. Like…I’m done with what your thoughts are on what MVP should represent….but we both do know what the award is….its not literally most valuable player….in an ideal fairytale world I agree with you….its worse than just a QB award even….most valuable QB could lead a bad team to the last seed of the playoffs. But the award goes to the QB on a very top record team. Without actually looking it up I bet it’s gone to the QB on a division winning team an overwhelming majority of the time. I struggle to throw out a percentage estimate even….because I can’t remember any MVP award winner not being a high seed QB.

Anywho.... back to planet earth and the 2024 season.   Dallas picked up a nice win for them considering their injuries, I felt it comes down to the Steelers not really being able to run the ball well.  But they are definitely leaking oil.

Great opportunity ahead for the Eagles here these next 4 weeks playing teams who won't have had their bye week yet.  Plus it's nice to have Carolina still on the schedule.  All the other NFC South teams out of the way... and the NFC North and West all still having to play each other.    Head down and focus on our own games and we could be looking really good heading into that Dallas matchup!

Definitely a 4 weeks stretch that we should win all 4 games…. Though we are not historically good against the Bengals for some odd reason we also have two ties against them

I apologized for my misunderstanding. Perfectly fine with you agreeing with me on Hurts being a large factor in us achieving 10-1. Just trying to understand your viewpoint all along. So exactly opposite of what I’ve been trying to do was put any words in your mouth. Been asking you questions instead the whole time so you could exactly explain what you think. Really been feeling like you’ve been harsh on Hurts and placing the heaviest blame on him for the bad times though, is that correct then? Pretty sure you stated the turnovers were a reason for our failures by Hurts….but were occurring during us being a 10-1 also.

Also you pointed to me blaming coaching for Hurts turnover issue. Which is half true. I just can’t pretend to have any real deep football discussion with people that have hard core followed this game. Which is what this board originally was based on. So Hurts holding the ball all loose and getting tripped up from behind fumbling….thats on Hurts. Cam snapping it early isn’t on Hurts. So the pure stats just aren’t good enough for me. Or this board….at least what it was for years. I challenge you and everyone here to be better than that. Lobbing out turnover stats credited against Hurts trying to make a point to blame him…or worse some even  use stats like that to say he’s dumb, sucks…the reason for every single loss. We’ve debated most every turnover that’s occurred. Plenty don’t agree with me on some of the interceptions. That’s fine. I listen to everything and consider it. But obviously opinionated. Feel I educate myself by obsessively loving football most of my life. But I will adjust…or sometimes even change my opinion based on strong arguments proving a different viewpoint.

But yeah…just getting the record straight. I share my thoughts. Tell me how you have seen things.

Everything you’ve said it wasn’t any huge leap of an assumption by me. But I did apologize twice. The whole time…otherwise….Ive just been asking what your opinion is. Got it straight now…you believe Hurts was a part of what you called the ‘talent’ that got us to 10-1 last season. Totally agree…so zero problem with that.

Just think you’ve been underestimating the cowboys talent and overestimating ours. But Steelers are a well coached team. Nothing special….but no easy weaknesses to pray on. That translates to a team that is versatile to play every matchup well. I really just think the parity of the league right now is so strong. Just such a fine line between everybody. That’s why when you and FL state how you believe we are so much more talented than everybody else….i don’t see it. Clearly been telling you the Cowboys were much more talented than us last year. So them not adding FAs and us adding DeVante Parker and Devon White wasn’t the game changing great GM ability you touted it as.

Browns create some more specific issues for us in a matchup than many others. If nothing else the Bucs game should be a clear lesson about the matchup each game is everything. But we should beat them for sure. Browns WR I’d say are very potentially an issue for us. Cooper and Jeudy are tough for us. What if you have Amari Cooper on Q and Jeudy on Slay? I’ve been high as it gets on Q all along….but that’s a perfectly difficult matchup. Palmer scoring on Slay…so really no reason to believe he’s locking down anybody. No secret league wide our defending 11 personnel is terrible. Without five guys on the line we struggle to stop the run. I still question our ability to cover TEs. Just don’t think that’s been as exposed just yet…but still a problem.
