Too often the coaches go safer playing a Maddox over the young guys. or...Dejean was hurt and still getting to the point where he was ready to start?

Not a guy that just is an emergency option at multiple positions do much.

But this seasons situation I think it worked out the way we needed it to. Slay gave that vet Pro Bowler for the youth to learn and look to. Seemed very evident at this point Slay can’t suit up for but so many games anyway. So this was an inevitable path.

To me it's obvious yes...so to me, the fit is the new guy plays over the old guy because he is better. Has better coverage skills, better tackling skills... to me, I let the DC figure the rest out. Again... I don't make it complicated.

But to be a first round pick…which was the discussion? Just athlete that’s versatile doesn’t work for me. Got to see him actually thriving at specific jobs.

It clearly is a job that can’t be manned by much less than a top target by Rosie to get anything less than a bust.

I keep trying to point out, the obvious, if it doesn’t matter how much talent you have under bad coach, no scheme and stale limited playcalling. NFL just way too difficult to succeed under those conditions regardless of just talented individuals. That I’ve seen, know and understand that in this team sport guys playing together as one can be so much greater than the best individuals on their own.

We were speaking about the past predraft discussion on this board. But trading up early round two I’d say still everything applies as expectations of a high draft pick.

Over and over you miss the forest for the trees. You say a third WR only gets so many targets. You say Hurts doesn’t throw over the middle. But then when Moore clearly gets his opportunity showing input we see Smitty and AJ get targeted passes even scoring over the middle.

We agree it's they run the ball.... GB and I discussed getting the 3rd WR in 2023's draft... no kidding it helps... but looking at the big picture of how Dejean impacts the defense , vs how our 3rd WR would be used??? Is it close of who would have more impact?

Is it close of who would have more impact? Shows how our leader prioritizes everything. He doesn’t chase stats. He’d rather feed the Hurts Haters if it means taking lower percentage chances if that’s the only chance to win. He doesn’t care to pad stats down big to make any case about how he had high percentage completions with that extra yardage that’s meaningless. Down two scores with not enough time …he’s doing whatever is still any chance to win. He doesn’t crave the glory and need the attention…even with haters riding him hard. He seems to actually really love to let others shine and thrive.
