Siri had high praise for the class of which Pedey took losing his job to Siri. He helped him out really took the high road. Also made the comment about how very much Pedey really liked Hurts…which is very contrary to what Hurts Haters will have you believe.

Way too early to draw conclusions on DeJean career impact

What happens if Maddox was on the field instead?  You don't think Dejean has had immediate impact simply by removing Maddox from the equation?

Plays that could go for decent yards and get 1st downs... sacks instead of the DC deciding not to blitz...run support?

Dejean is a piece that changes the defense.

Why would you bring up that fact about target share for a third WR in this O?

Because ....a WR has less impact the less times the ball gets passed.

You obsessed about Siri’s basic non answer " physical "  as he meant run the ball because that's what you want.   It's obvious the success of the offense the last few games with 25, 14 and 20 pass attempts....how much could another WR impact playing behind AJ and Smith?

Compared to a guy like Dejean that can be used so many ways replacing a weak player like Maddox?

I imagined more of a passing offense being 2024.... I don't think we get that.

But...now that we have Dejean....the 3rd WR jumps up the list of possible impact positions...as far as added pieces.

I'd like to see DL myself

Absolutely see that. But that’s such a low bar. Maddox has clearly been targeted endlessly.

I liked that we got DeJean. Not against it.

Too early really to predict too far. I still think we’ll see quite a bit unfold here. Fangio’s D will suffer then adapt and so on. Clearly pass rusher is probably top need.

Yeah my hopes rested with Moore. Feels like a power struggle been going on behind the scenes pretty big time.

I feel like Moore was totally a Rosie hire. So the dynamics with him and Siri are awkward. At first Siri was kind of sharing that he was stripped of responsibilities…but then he kept walking things back. Felt like once the season started it pretty much happened like that again. Need Rosie to step in on the HC to clarify the role that was laid out when they brought him back. Look I can’t really blame him for taking control for the Browns game. He had really put himself on the chopping block early this season. That Browns game was a clear point if we struggled he had to be canned.

Think we agree on that third WR would just be such a matchup advantage he’d demand more usage. But clearly we just needed the depth to start this season.

Which we still actually looked to be capable of getting things done missing AJ.

Again.  The bar is set at....one player replacing another.

DeJean replacing Maddox completely changed the defense.  Made the defense way more functional.

I don't think a 3rd WR would have that impact on this particular offense.

But...now that we have DeJean in place..that 3rd WR moves up the list

Crazy how negative things can be when we have a top ten O even

I was thinking more long term career wise

What's negative... the OL blocking... running the ball... WRs  making plays... QB taking care if the ball... that's the formula to make it really tough on the other team!

I feel while we have Hurts...the 2nd TE could be more valuable as the 5th skill player.  The one who can block and catch...allowing one of them to act like a FB.

How do you match up with that...we already have the " physical " OL... you want to play nickel...we crush that run blocking...you want to put more guys in the box.. more room for the best one on one WR and Smith on the outside.

Put both our WRs on same side with a TE on the other, how do you defend it?

With a versatile TE like Goedert, I think with another stud two way TE you can really do the damage as an already established "physical " team.

With Hurts ...he can use another big weapon in short yardage... I just don't think the 3rd WR would do as much with Hurts style.

The take off the top WR... doesn't do much because they don't fear the 60 yard throw...yet you see all these crossing patterns in these shorter zones work great  because Hurts best skill set as a passer is that quick slant, crossing pattern hitting the guy on the run... or....the outside fade / go pattern to AJ or Smith when everyone on D gets sucked in on the underneath traffic.

Me too... long term my defense is more functional now with a guy like DeJean in there.

I'm just surprised you don't see it that way?  You talked for pages about the 3 safeties, versatile type Nickel CB... the guy who is the extra LB, the guy that can shut down a 3rd WR or cover a TE or RB...the guy that can also give run support and rush the passer.

Like DeJean is exactly your type guy... does the shine come off because Howie drafted him and GB wanted him.  I don't watch college, so we're you pigeonholing him as an outside CB?  Doubting a rookie could come in and play this complicated sport??

I'm just not seeing why you in particular ...the guy who loves the back 7...the DBs and the LBs...versatile guys.. not sure why you don't see what DeJean brings as much more valuable than a 3rd WR who would fall way down a pecking order on a team that runs the ball?

See what somehow goes overlooked is the brutal abuse that situation creates on all our guys…but very significantly to our QB. Look at that situation and just think about how very much you wouldn’t want to be that guy carrying the ball. Strongest people all on you in every direction at all different levels of your body.
You want a QB to protect himself. They tried focusing on preaching to Hurts to get down or out of bounds to avoid getting hurt and taking the hits all last offseason. Yet on the run was the lesser evil of situations for him. In the pocket is much more dangerous for him.
Just think about how you can have your main focal point being to get your QB to realize he is needed so badly that he needs to avoid injury risks at most all costs. But then you put him in so many of these Brotherly Shove situations that no QB possibly could withstand.

The tush push should not be needed to score. Hurts is not withstanding much, he's being pushed from behind by TWO players and the O line has already neutralized the D line. They don't need to be in the EZ LOL

You would think... a 3rd WR would crush opponents.... with 14 pass attempts ... does he really get the ball?

Hurts is lucky to locate his car in a parking garage 🤣

And a real TE2 who can block and is also a receiving threat

Why would we "waste" a high pick on WR3 when he MAY get 2 -3 targets a game? Why I was fine with ASmith LATE. Turns out Wilson was the better pick and I believe he will be the slot guy in time or a time share if ASMith can get his act together. Disappointing to this point. Some guys have a tough time transitioning
