It was stale and predictable. Hurts and his playmakers just went out and did it the hard way by just making plays. But your one game at a time approach just so obviously leads to exactly that kind of collapse: How can you not understand what has been occurring? Hurts cannot handle being an NFL QB. He is a RB who can throw and is now relegated to being a game manager. Joe listed his weaknesses,go review those, then maybe you will understand what has been occurring. We are "stuck" with Hurts for a number of years now. This is the best Hurts you will see. The progress stopped last year and I am not the only one who saw it or said so

More formations that actually have multiple plays to not just give playcalls away so easy. Just tripled the playbook usage. Playaction. An actual scheme. An actual rhyme and reason everything’s being done. Let Moore and Coach Doug go to work. The coaches are moving players around because HURTS will only look for the 2 reads. If they move a star into the slot it is teaching Hurts how to use field vision and make more than 1 read. Ever think about that? Maybe they are teaching him and you can't see it. If they put DSmith in the slot and AJ at TE Hurts would need to locate those 2???? He rarely looks to anyone else and why "no one has success in the slot"

The players saw it coming and weren’t happy just like myself. You and a few others heck bent on blaming Hurts are the only ones missing the very plain obvious. Leaks, hearsay,no links, show me all this proof you seem to have. Nobody likes losing and stars get frustrated when they can't get their stats

I thought Hurts took away those duties when Kelce retired? If Hurts can't read a D and audibles incorrectly blame the coaches?

You know the stuff that takes time and lots of reps to master and know like the back of your hand. But Hurts has been in a new O every season but one…where he was MVP runner up and SB runner up. Second is the first loser

You hold the ball longer while not processing(because no scheme means no answer and plan) not being coached in a scheme with an understanding of what the expectations are that the coach wants…in that situation. 1 read, followed by indecision by your superman

But then aren’t understanding the so very obvious results of players and the O as a whole are deliberately being held down under the conscious decisions to skip anything not for week one. After TC? That’s it. Coaching, developing. Adding to improve both an understanding and the extra tools…all just coming to a halt. Insult to injury shows our TCs we are behind and not even getting as much done as other much better pro coaches. Those NFL teams are more expanded and versatile..more and ahead put simply…just out of TC even. But all them have plans to keep teaching and adding to their Os to get as far as possible at the end of the season. Double edged shortcoming, Ham,how many games does the coach game plan for on a weekly basis? How "expanded and versatile" would you say Cincy is/was?

November 3, 20241 yr Author 6 hours ago, cunninghamtheman said: So your not coaching/teaching and developing has very obvious consequences when it’s just do what you need to try and do this week. That’s why I was complaining…along with the players when 10-1. That’s so obviously not a sustainable approach. So even though it’s very obvious FL you just only can think one step at a time. This is exactly the reason for the collapse! Couldn’t have gone any other way. If you "do what you need to do" every week, you WIN THE SB!!!!!!
November 3, 20241 yr Author 5 hours ago, cunninghamtheman said: ou are going to look like you have bad vision, you’re most likely holding the ball longer ….with it appearing like you just don’t even read the D correct. Knowing the D doesn’t do much if you don’t have a plan of expected adjustment according to the given playcall. LMAO why Hurts is a game manager now, because he can't handle any of these consistently. He has bad vision-check,he holds the ball too long, check,he can't read a defense, check,he is indecisive and is prone to early panics, check. It's the SAME THINGS we have all(except YOU) have been bishing about for 2-3 years now. OH it's because no one is teaching him?(see QBing for Dummies again). We are now relegated to playing to Hurts few strengths. We gave up trying to get him to learn. IDK is Hurts paying you to keep preaching and covering for him?
November 3, 20241 yr 2 hours ago, GreenbleedinNC said: I was expecting more passing with AJ and DSmith,2 of the best tandems in the league. I think acquiring Barkley screwed up that scenario. I think we tried that, then stopped due to all the picks thrown by Hurts. I don't think Barkley was counting on being the offense here as he was in NY. We really need to use him less since we need to extend his career another 2 years. We need to come up with "something other than Barkley" We aren’t looking at extending Barkley’s career much. We have an elite RB in his prime getting paid big money. He is the type of player that prefers and flourishes with a strong workload. He’s good like that more than just the ten carries. The picks by Hurts weren’t all his fault. But even still it was the first games in a completely different and new O. You just being extremely unrealistic to expect him to have just picked up all that…plus all the extra duties he’s controlling with Kelce’s retirement. You are really reaching for some miraculous miracles. In Brazil he had Dickerson get owned to not let him finish the one throw for an interception. The other interception to AJ was not a good decision period. That wasn’t because of a new O or anybody else to blame. That was trying to do too much with just terrible ball security.
November 3, 20241 yr Obviously would suck if Saquan gets injured. But he’s always preferred and I believe even benefitted from a solid share of work. But you pay top dollar to a FA vet elite RB….you do that exactly to get every ounce of top juice from him the next two or three seasons. Any career he has beyond that? Not any priority for our franchise.

The O was very weak with no scheme and no real diversity with personnel lineups even being a ‘tell’ for what plays were being run. This is exactly what I’m talking about. You and Sitj one week at a time is so clearly going to end collapsing. You gotta grow progress and adapt. I agree...that's why Johnson is out. But it is ironic....all those players in a weak scheme all making 1st and second team pro bowl?

It’s been fairly well hashed out that Siri was running most everything and even playcalling a bunch which we weren’t made aware up front about. You really just do consistently seem to have these bad takes about what we both are seeing and reading about being the same. We all understood Steichen and Johnson were under Siri’s scheme. That’s just known. But even then last season was so clearly our team just keeping the roll going of a team that knew how to win. But was a very lean version even of what Steichen was going with Siri’s O(usually I would have referred to the scheme…but there’s just overwhelming track record of evidence that calling it an actual scheme would be a lie). Problem was once the carry over of only a smaller portion of what Steichen had going the two seasons prior was sniffed out with a clear blueprint of how to defend it….then the season was done and in the tank. There wasn’t ever really any additions or growth.. or really just even variety that ever occurred during last season.
November 3, 20241 yr Siri even flat out stated how much he believed in his O and abilities commanding it. He had to give up keeping his O and control of the offense as part of the agreement for him to stay on one more season. Also giving Fangio autonomy with the D power. But didn’t take long before Siri started walking that plan back. Moore or any quality O mind wouldn’t have accepted an OC job as a lackey for Siri as a HC. Big part of the appeal for Moore I’m sure was Rosie and Siri were saying Siri was out and the OC would have control over the O. But not long after Moore was hired Siri started digging himself back in. He stated very differently that he needed Moore to add..ughh…more to the O plays that he identified worked well in his O. You could tell this got Moore stuck in having a very large task right off the bat of being forced to splice the two Os together as one. Which to keep the familiar names of popular plays I’m sure helped the players. Learning a new O and scheme…but at least the regular dozen plays that Siri distributed out as his contribution to the playbook didn’t require learning new terminology. Obviously the playbook this season wasn’t nearly as eco friendly for any copies that still were printed out old school on paper. You know Lurie really priortizes the franchise making efforts to save the environment…one of Siri’s top resume qualities.

Exactly why I pointed out actually how well Hurts did. Too much of Siri’s scheme last season was just rely on Hurts fantastic ability to make the big plays with his playmakers. A statistical category he’s been at the top of the league accomplishing in his career. Pretty much the only mandate we all understood from Siri as HC for the D on his team was don’t give up the big plays. That Siri firmly believes in the big plays being the largest factor to achieve victory. So he ran the ball, threw screens and one or two other YAC Creation plays with Goedert and the abilities of AJ and Smitty to most times get open deep eventually.
November 3, 20241 yr 3 hours ago, GreenbleedinNC said: Signing Barkley to a 3 not a 1 is long term planning? How long is AJ contracted for? More long term planning? Mailata? Lane? No long term plan? It’s a fairly typical Rosie magical contract that is longer than three years technically. But I believe the third season is pretty much all just an option bonus situation. Which is nice giving us the choice an option and control. But I mean…if you say it’s long term. Just no way such an elite FA could accept less than the two years he signed. They came to a nice number for that third year decision. We’ll have to be willing to pay that 10 plus mil to retain him. So either way year three Saquan should be happy with what happens.
November 3, 20241 yr But 10 mil…for an elite player that touches and produces with the ball so much and well. That’s why I’ve been in favor of not fearing paying a RB. Even this expensive one is still relatively cheap compared to other positions. Just seems like it would almost certainly be beneficial to any team to hire the top starting players at the cheapest positions. A few positions elite top paid players make less than backup Dline players.
