Jon Ritchie might have had the worst possible draft take I have heard in a long time. He said Makai Lemon was a great value pick and is a great player, but he was the wrong pick because they needed an offensive lineman. If someone doesn't like Lemon I can disagree but see your argument. Literally saying you would have passed up on the better player to fill a positional need is how draft busts happen and GM's get fired.

I am really surprised how polarizing this pick is. Howie made some bad picks back in the day reaching to fill needs and ever since he has shifted to sticking to the board and taking the best player he has been one of the best GM's in the league at drafting. Lemon was not only the best player on their board but was ranked between 10-14 by most of the top respected draft experts. As an added bonus it was also a position of need.

As far as freaking out over a 4th round pick and essentially 5th round pick (137) in a bad draft, they can easily move back from 54 or 68 and get back one of those picks and ultimately who cares because look at their last several 4th and 5th round picks.

Absolutely spot on. Get your guy . I love the pick. Those picks in this draft is less important in my opinion. They'll get some back. I'd be shocked if they make all three of their picks tonight. When they do trade AJ they'll have plenty of picks next year and more cap space.

A lot of GMs make that mistake and it was a lesson Howie had to learn the hard way. You are right

This guy looks like a RB playing WR. Great hands, shifty, quick, good vision to turn short passes into long gains. RAC is back as a major factor here in this offense. AJ degraded in that area recently. Lots of 3 and outs in this offense are done for. Really think this turnaround will be noticeable relatively quick. The talent is there. And that's before we even atalk about a deadly one-two punch with Barkley and Bigsby. Defenses will have to be on edge this year with all these dynamics presented.

Listened to Lemons presser. Much much better than the combine stuff. He did not have that silliness going on. Preached team, toughness, selflessness... Some stumbles on not really answering questions right but that stuff I don't worry about. Seemed really humble and like a genuinely nice kid. The whole demeanor and persona was night and day.

And, after the press conference. This may sound silly and it's nothing, but the eagles staff came on the stage to move the table so he can take pics. Without a thought, he went to help carry the table... Again, may sound stupid. But to me, I think that says something about his character. I like it.

Thanks. Dude is everywhere. And not a hard throw either.

Pretty simple. Howie is taking best man available and ignoring the rest. But WR is a huge need long term, anyway. Great pick after looking at big picture. I think OL will be adequate. Not as worried as most here. Doesn't have to be dominant. Just solid. And Jurgens and Dickerson deserve a chance to rebound. They are young enough and don't think they can play any worse. If I'm Dickerson I'm shedding 30 pounds a la Jordan Davis type regimen and he will see immediate results.

It’s something. Like opening the door for an older person. Some people do it and some people don’t.

I completely agree with you and appreciate you sharing that observation. If you want a good gauge of someone's character, watch how they interact with and treat people "below" them in a corporate hierarchy.

Finally something you and I can agree on. I watch the draft ever year with two of my buddies and every year they want to watch ESPN and I say Schefter spoils the big surprise picks and we should watch NFL network instead. Last night he says something to the effect of "The Rams have done their work on Ty Simpson" and I said to them he just spoiled the pick and they were like nah he just said they did their work on him. Two minutes later who do they take but Ty Simpson and the biggest surprise pick of the night got ruined. They finally agreed with me. Needles to say, we watched NFLN the rest of the night.

I also think NFLN has the better graphics. I like the way they show the next fifteen picks or so at all times at the bottom of the screen. ESPN doesn't do that.

Probably the least-surprising news imaginable, considering who the Giants drafted last night

He does look like a running back after he catches the ball. Sort of a mix in the Shady/Westbrook vein.

Yup. He is elusive and slippery.

I was actually just at that Biltmore a few weeks before the owners meeting. I feel like a part of history

There's a difference between moving down just for the sake of getting more picks to use those picks on players vs moving down for some ammo to make a move for a guy you want. That's what is unfortunate with the current set up of having only 2 day 3 picks. Howie could always use 2027 picks but I don't know how much you want to borrow from the future for these guys today.

Yeah but that’s what they just did. Hard to complain about not having a lot of trade chips when you just used your trade chips.

One of the draftnik guys Connor Rogers said his biggest concern for Lemon is that his YAC won’t translate. Hope he’s wrong.

Have seen this numerous times now.

It's like the Jurgens and Jalyx Hunt hints. Its happening.

Makes sense and he’s a bigger safety then they currently have on the roster.

I look forward to seeing Citrus Batman take the field.

BOOOOOOOOOOOO

roll

Howie has aced his move-ups in 1st & 2nd rounds, the last several years with Devanta, Davis, Carter, Cooper & Campbell. And now potentially Lemon. The value has been crazy each time and worth every 3rd, 4th or 5th rounder it took in each deal. Has the knack for stealing someone's thunder and getting his guy. And the time he kept moving down in the '24 draft and got Hunt in the end is quite impressive. The guy has the incredible knack, I will say, of reading the room on draft day.

Boooooo!

Good pick like him better than Boston
