The Rams likely take Lemon if they don't go QB. The Rams are a top 5 organization.
The Steelers were willing to trade up for Lemon. The Steelers are a top 15 organization.
We traded up for Lemon. We are a top 5-10 organization.

Lemon was 13th on the consensus board.

Maybe Lemon is just....good?

Yea I just don’t like Lemon. But I’d also note that this is considered a pretty decent OT draft and next year isn’t. This is considered a poor wr draft with a ton of mid round depth and next year is considered a historic wr draft in round 1.

So from that standpoint, drafting a wr round 1 this year feels weird.

You are absolutely the only person I’ve come across who has called this a pretty decent OT draft. It’s a terrible one. There’s not one guy who would be a first round pick in a good OT draft. Not one. A few guards, yes, but tackles, uh uh. You may turn out to be right but I have my doubts.

By the way, Howie continues to keep early picks below 23 years of age. Even in a draft FULL of 24 year olds, Lemon is only 21. Will be 22 in June.

Watkins is burned into his memory.

Predictions for 54 and 68?

I still really want Bowry. Think he would be a perfect guard for us

Yep

Where was that reported?

Jacas, Dunker, trade that 2nd 3rd rd pick for extra picks, take Roush in the 4th

Or get extra picks by trading Tanner and take Klare with that 3rd

I'm not worried about RT. Eagles drafted Cameron Williams last year. He was able to get a year under Stout and will continue to learn under Lane. They also brought Fred back who played well when Lane was hurt

I GUARANTEE that if Lemon got drafted by the Rams, Cowboys, Giants, Commanders, Lions, Bears, Seahawks, etc. the same fans complaining about him would be whining that they got better, got a steal. And then complain all Howie did was reach for an OT.

The lack of QBs, skill positions, and DTs made room for several OTs to enter first-round mocks, leading to the impression of a strong class.

Sure didn't do alot outside of one nice run after catch against projected too corner in next year's draft.

Agreed. Not to mention Hurts doesn't have the ability to make any of these throws or reads, so it's a moot point.

34 and 104 from Arizona for 54 and McKee and grab McNeil-Warren at 34 if SF doesn't pick him?

I agree this isn't a good OT class. At least with known quantities. I think several guys in the draft have potential. I like Freeling's potential, but I'm not some OL scout. I just go by what I saw watching Georgia and even when watching Georgia I didn't keep my eye on him most of the time. But he was pretty high on consensus boards so people do like him. Lemon was higher on the consensus. Lemon was 15, Freeling was 19. Now if both hit their absolute peak potential I think Freeling obviously would be a more valuable player as franchise OTs are just more important. But he may not. Could be a bust, who knows.

I've said before I think if they did miss, it was last year with Josh Simmons. I liked him a lot. I thought he was a top 15 pick in a better class and only fell because of the patella tear.

Hopefully Howie finds himself a franchise RT at some point. Has been in the back of all our minds for a few years now but it's not "time to sweat" because Lane's still here, but the second Lane retires, whenever he does, it immediately becomes Defcon 1. And when that day happens we gotta hope that year's draft has franchise OTs worth their salt and the Eagles are in position to get one.

We all know how much the Eagles value OL though, and everyone who covers the team has reported going back to 2024 now how badly the Eagles are looking at OT. Yet they never seem to get one. I wonder how annoyed, if they are about the way things have gone the last few years unable to find that heir apparent to Lane. Because when Howie really wants something he usually goes balls to the wall to try to get it. Did Howie really want one as bad as has been stated and "the board just didn't fall his way" the last 3 drafts? Or is it possible he's wanted one, but doesn't consider it as insanely dire as has been reported and believes he can get one when the time comes? The answer to that question, I have no idea.

Thinking out loud here is really:

Sex, wife on work call, banana pancakes, time to start drinking, dog farts, dinner, rounds 2-3.

Yup...it is a down draft year at the top. I am guessing the Eagles saw the first round draft grades end around 12-15. They may have pulled the trigger on an OT at 23 if one fell to them, but I doubt they would have gone up for one of the main 4. When one of the 1st round graded players fell in a position of need the Eagles took their shot. I think two 4's was a little rich, but if the Eagles felt the talent would help the team, then so be it.
