I didn't know anything about Payton, but initial reaction is that they can stash him on the practice squad, next year can move up to #2/3 and develop. No pressure, can learn the system. Howie likes that QB factory. Going into 2027 if they trade Hurts, they have guys on the roster that can continue to develop in addition to drafting one high next year. But a 5th round pick also may turn into nothing like Kyle McCord, Clayton Thorson.

Unless he completely bombs in camp/pre-season I couldn't agree more. Andy Dalton will 100% be on this team as well. There are some REALLY bad takes as a result of this pick.

There are OGs, WRs, DTs, Edges, and LBs who are intriguing. Couple CBs and Ss but the other positions look better at this point.

If they are really liking big slow OL like Bell, then Cooper would be a solid pick. Harkey is the best OG right now though.

Ok. As I said, I don't know about him except what I'm watching and reading right now. If he's that good, that's great for the QB factory. We'll see what happens, he's a day 3 QB.

He's a 5th round pick that played 1 year as QB. We know Tanner is on his last year. Some may not believe in QB1 as much as they claim.

What you need to be worried about is the 2027 first round.

Cole Payton is going to look so good in #11

Payton has better college passing stats than Anthony Richardson, and the Eagles didn’t even have to take him #4 overall.

He’s a lottery spin. Mel Kiper said the Eagles will have a sub-package of plays for him as a rookie — WTF? There’s no chance Payton is active on Sundays unless injuries (plural) happen.

It is possible Howie finds a trade for McKee before training camp for 2027 draft capital
