Yeah... he has legit starting level upside. Runs a bit like a poor man's Josh Allen. He has all the tools you could want. Even an accurate passer, though his mechanics need a lot of work.

He's the definition of a QB factory prospect. Let him sit for 2 years, coach him up, and you might strike gold.

And now they can wait to see how Payton looks in camp. Could even wait to see if some team has QB injury or just guys not working out and do an August trade to get a team a little more desperate and get more value for him.

I don’t think McKee will be traded barring another team getting an injury. Why would a team trade for him after the draft before they see what their QB situation looks like during the season?

Cole Payton is such a Howie pick. Totally get it. But hilarious after the Dalton trade.

I guess we have to hope another QB goes down in camp to trade McKee.

As much as there are other positions I wanted taken, I get it. QB is too important and if you have a chance on a guy that you can develop into something really good, makes sense to take him.

Also, even though he's only a day 3 pick, I kinda like that it will put pressure on Hurts. Dalton, McKee and potential future Payton. Gotta perform.

I wonder if that's what Howie is counting on. Otherwise this pick doesn't make a lot of sense with legitimate needs still to fill. Unless Payton has a debilitating hang nail he doesn't know about yet.

From watching 2:00 of his highlights, it feels like he's going to need 2 years before he can be trusted as the backup qb, minimum.
