Im thinking the eagles have enough cap space now to trade Hurts and take that dead cap hit. AJ will be thrilled and stay. McKee will thrive in the Mannion offense with Dalton backing him up.

I admire your persistence.

I think i have Arkansas on both mine in that part. The bracket i had High Point winning is the one i have St John’s winning it all though haha.

I'm just going to make a general response to all of the Howie glazers out there who are in denial and spittin nonsense.

"4 million isn't a lot for a backup QB" "Tanner McKee is gone anyway." "What backup would you have signed."

No, 4 million is very reasonable for a backup. However, right now Andy Dalton is the 3rd string QB and that is a lot for a 3rd string QB. If it were imminent that Tanner McKee was getting traded it would have happened by now. Maybe they do move him but as of now he is on the team and they trade for and overpaid for a 3rd string QB. Russell Wilson, Tyrod Taylor, Jimmy G, and Joe Flacco are more or less the same as Andy Dalton.

"How do you know the Eagles won't sign Marcus Epps."

First off, signing Epps AND drafting a safety no later than round 3 is the absolutely bare minimum Howie should be doing at safety. As of now he has done neither of those things, and completely ignored the position. If you want to deal with what Howie might do or can do, knock yourself out. I am dealing with reality and the reality is we have Mukuba and Brown and nothing else at safety and Howie continues to de-value and ignore the position almost two weeks into free agency.

"We can just draft an edge rusher"

Again, just because they can doesn't mean they will. Also, the chances of a rookie edge rusher coming right in and being a true difference maker is slim considering where we are picking. We have three solid young edge rushers who can contribute to varying degrees, what we don't have is someone with size and someone who is a legit number 1 edge rusher. It's almost like some of you weren't paying attention to last off-season and season when they signed Ojulari and Uche to go with Smith and Hunt and ended up having to sign Zadarius Smith, bring back 80 year old BG, and trade a 3rd round pick for Phillips.

"Who cares that they guaranteed Jake's 5 million"

I don't even know where to begin here but I'm not spending much time here. He's been one of the worst kickers in the league the last two years and they just rewarded him by giving him 5 million guaranteed when it wasn't. This essentially locks him in as the kicker in 2026 when at the very least there should be serious competition if not just outright getting rid of him.

I've seen the Eagles make enough dumb mistakes, even apparent at the time of the decisions, over the years that I'm not the "they know more than you, just trust them" type.

Does it make sense to me? No, it doesn't. But I also know Howie didn't just happen to feel like burning $4m of cap space and a late round pick for the fun of it.

If it's just the cliche that they want the best, deepest, most experienced QB room possible and they spent a draft pick and $4m to that end...then, yea, I disagree with that. Not to the point that I'm going to die on a hill going nuts over it, but I don't agree with it.

The wishful thinking is that they are paving the road for a Mckee trade...but I don't think that's it. It could just as easily be the other extreme...they didn't like what they saw from Mckee in that game last year and view Dalton as a safety net. Regardless, there is a reason they did this...and likely one we are not aware of.

For next year, Jimmy G looks like a very smart offseason signing for the Eagles, while we are on the subject of backup QBs. Many years in the Shanahan offense and now a couple years as the backup in the Mcvay offense.

Could be a solid backup and useful to Hurts or a new QB.

Don't know why people are so anxious to trade McKee unless its for a high 3rd rounder or better. Good chance you're going to get a 3rd or 4th if he leaves in free agency with a Malik Willis type deal. News alert: he's gonna have several bidders next offseason even if he's yet to really show a ton. Eagles backup QBs have always had a high value because of the winning program and tutelage given that losing teams would love to draw from and roll the dice on. There may be 20 legit starting QBs in the league. I am not saying I'm super high on him, but the jury is still out and rather have him start here than Dalton if Hurts is out for any significant period of time. Dalton is high floor, but low ceiling guy if he ever plays and has barely played in 3 years. Gimme the youngen all day long. I don't see Howie trading McKee unless he gets a deal he can't refuse.

Just throwing darts at edge and safety will keep this team from being a Superbowl contender this year. Think about the steep drop here from 2024 Superbowl team. No Sweat, No MW & an older BG. Heck, I would still like to have Booker here. We still have Hunt who improved last year and then Nolan Smith who declined. So that's a wash. The defensive line took a hit and has yet to be replenished and lacks depth throughout. Looking back, Howie, for sure one can say he messed up by not bringing back one of MW or Sweat last offseason. I would have gone with the younger guy in MW and worried later who we pay and who we don't.That MW deal was essentially a 2 year guaranteed deal for 51M. They could have moved him around on the line and made it all work for a solid 2 year window, at minimum and come at you in waves. You take it one year at a time and assess your core pieces. Would have had a dominant line last year and at same time have optionality to trade JC with ease, if you know you have MW locked up. And then pay everyone else with out issue. MW and JD long term is still pretty good at worst case. That one still stings and Howie is chasing his tail trying to get back there with such a line.

To me, after winning the Superbowl we were in a new championship window where you have to put your chips on the table to field the best roster possible you can for the next couple of years in how all the contracts aligned on that defense and team. Definitely were a couple solid moves short last year to attain that possibility in things that were right in front of his face to do.

Oh I get it, so unless you glaze Howie and give him the ultimate benefit of the doubt after a terrible off-season in 2025 one's opinion isn't "well reasoned."

They could have just signed him now since he is a free agent.

Got them winning in one bracket and Arizona in another

I always root against UNC and Duke. Glad Martelli Jr. and VCU got it done against the Tarheels. My dad played at St Joe's so I was rooting extra hard for them

Maybe this was posted earlier, but apparently Stone Smartt was a core special teamer for the Jets. Maybe that makes a difference here as the TE3 or 4.

I guess competition for Latu

Onto the 32. FIL’s Aggies up next. Go Coogs.

Idk but I think I have to go for the St Louis Billikens. Avila looks like he was created by a kid in Xbox with the goggles and weird body but he can play!

Unless he starts and wins games this year, McKee isn’t getting anything close to 25mm AAV as a free agent. We aren’t getting a 3rd as a comp pick in 2028. Maybe a 5th.

I still need to know why Howie guaranteed Calcaterra $750,000. I wouldn't guarantee that guy 10 cents.
