A 3rd rounder from a bad team would not be a dumb trade for a dude who's gonna be gone in a year.

That depends. If the goal is to win the SB this year then you don't move him for a 3rd even if it's from the Jets. If Hurts is down for even a game or two that could mean the division or a BYE. Everyone is judging McKee based on a game with a horrible OC playing with backups against their starters. Was it his best game? No, but we've seen him play much better than that. He can win you those game while I have little faith in Andy. We'd all love an extra 3rd, but I'd take a better QB starting those 1-3 games (hopefully not more) vs that pick. That's just me.

I'm trying to put myself in Howie's shoes, it just makes sense to sit tight. He likes having 3 playable QBs. You have to floor him to get McKee right now. No rush in trading him at all whatsoever. Doesn't really need 2026 picks at this point.

To me trading McKee comes down not needing to do so. I'm fine with Dalton as the backup but I would prefer to have McKee as well so I woudn't be actively shopping him. If someone is willing to meet the price than I would absolutely do it. To me that price is a conditional 3rd round pick that can become a 2nd round pick based on playing time or something like that. I would be a little bit surprised if someone gave up that much but if a team comes out of the draft unhappy with their QB position, or someone gets a bad injury in training camp that is when maybe that scenario plays out. I would strongly consider a 3rd but I wouldn't be in a hurry to do that. If the best offer is a 4th I would keep him as he is more valuable on the team in 2026 than a 4th is in my opinion.

Meh, Dalton would be fine

The goal is to win a SB and also be sustainably great. A 3rd could get you a long term starter. I don't think the difference between McKee and Dalton a few games is worth losing a 3rd rounder over. McKee may be better at this point, but not better to the point where you could give up a future starter.

Okay did a little homework. The Vikings received a 3rd round draft compensation for the Sam Darnold 1 year/$10M Contract he received from Seahawks in free agency. So I can easily see that offer for McKee in free agency. Now just to receive a 4th rounder a QB has to average 5M-8M  APY. Unless McKee falls flat on his face this year with any opportunities, we can realistically secure a 3rd/4th rounder. I am still feeling a 3rd rounder here. We will have to wait and watch. I am sure there are alot of variables here in determining compensation and don't profess to be an expert on this. I like the idea mentioned above by T-1000 as a conditional 2nd round pick, as what sounds interesting here.

Based on what? He's washed up.

Or it could be a wasted pick that never plays. It's a weak draft and they will get a pick for him if he walks. I am not sure we are going to agree on this if you think Dalton at his age is going to be close to McKee. He's washed up.

Hard to say whether or not Dalton is washed up. He was pretty bad in his one start last season but he started a few games in 2024 and actually played pretty well. At 38 though that extra year of time gone by could be significant. I get how spoiled we all are by the legend of Nick Foles but I don't think the Eagles are winning shite with McKee or Dalton if Hurts were to go down long term or in the playoffs. Especially when you look at the state of the rest of the roster right now which needs serious work. I would still hold firm on not trading him for anything less than a 3rd and I might even insist on a conditional 3rd that can become a 2nd based on playing time or a certain criteria of success from McKee and/or the team. To me trading him for a 4th would be stupid but hey "Roob" thinks we should take a 4th for him.

What do you think McKee is? He may not even be good. We simply don’t know. I think you’re overrating the value of McKee more than anything.

I think he's the guy we saw vs Dallas two years ago when he has a good OC and starters around him vs backups going against DC's first team. He makes fast decisions and accurate throws. How many times have things come down to one game? If the Eagles season is on the line you are honestly feeling good about Dalton starting when you could have had McKee? Will that 3rd rounder matter at all when Dalton goes in and looks like crap? We can probably disagree it's not a huge issue, but point is they don't need to do it and I hope they don't. We've seen how he can play with starters and if nothing else his ceiling is a lot higher than Dalton's at his age.

I'm bored, anyone have new number predictions for the free agent signings?

Andy Dalton - 14

Hollywood Brown - 2

Riq Woolen - 0

Arnold Ebiketie - 17

Johnny Mundt - 83

I'm also guessing we see Tank Bigsby change his number from that awful 37. 32 would be solid. Brown, Bennett, and Ringo need to go anyway and are hogging up good numbers (21, 23, and 7).

I don't feel that much different honestly. Certainly not the difference of a 3rd rounder. Getting a 3rd rounder for McKee who has done nothing in this league would honestly be a miracle if you think about it. We should be so lucky that anyone would want to trade for a dude who has not won a meaningful NFL game and has only looked good in spurts and really in the preseason, and the one real game that was important that he played in(vs Wash) he didn't play well. If a team offers that we should take it and run. He's a 6th round pick who won't be back one year from now. And the Eagles will probably draft a QB as well. If the Eagles were in the position of some of these other teams and we traded a 3rd for McKee we'd be melting down over how ridiculous of a trade it was.

Said back during the season he was a lock to be traded.

A non AJ "Brown" trade!

I think Mukuba is the only S left on the roster!

So we now have 2 Safeties on the roster

Sam

Dalton is in his wheelchair and riding into the sunset and is a journeyman who you could have picked up for free if you were patient. That's his value right now and he has a low ceiling. I'm holding out for a potentially productive McKee as my QB2 in case he breaks out if Hurts gets injured. There are definitely signs that he can. Worst case I'm getting is a high 4th rounder (and maybe even a 3rd) later on. I'm willing to lose a round in draft value here in a draft that we have plenty of picks in, JIC McKee is the real deal. And that allows Howie the option to pivot here with QB 1 as well. He's done it before. If the team implodes this year that is not impossible. Why would you take out that optionality for making moves later. On top of it, you are required to spend a decent draft pick this year for a QB to replace McKee when you have other needs.

Andre Sam. Either they view Carter as a safety or Cooper

Eagles will draft a safety early for sure, unless Arrogant Eagles have returned and they try to skate by the season with slop there like they did various times in 2023. I could see Epps coming back at some point as insurance.

So we moved up 8 picks in the 4th round and 18 picks in the 6th round.

That seems like a bad trade but more indicative with how bad Brown is.

Eagles also get $1.5M in cap space

Moving up 8 picks in the 4th feels like the equivalent of a late 5th rounder and moving up 18 in the 6th feels like something that would cost a 2027 6th or a high 2026 7th, so the value was probably a 5th and a 7th for Brown, which honestly is better than I expected, he looks unplayable. Drafting safeties who can't cover in the modern NFL = dumb.

I'm surprised we got anything for Sydney Brown. He is God awful. It's a scenario of  "Good deal. Who did we get?"

Oh yeah, been thinking he's drafting Q's buddy. Still need a good vet starter type at safety. Maybe a trade? Makuba shouldn't be handed anything.
