Since it’s Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, I wanted to say something that’s been on my mind. Most of us spend a lot of time talking about football, our families, work, hobbies, and whatever else

I don't get it either. I hate all the shouting "personalities" on sports shows just to get attention and be "edgy." I guess there are people that tune in for it.

My guess is because he is popular with the younger fans in college football which seems to me to have a much larger following than the NFL(I don’t have any stats to back that up and I could be wrong). He seems to have a lot wild shtick and keeps the viewers and some of the other analysts entertained with shock value content.

Kind of like why guys like Howard Stern became popular, the ones that turned into his show the most were the ones that hated him just because they wanted to hear what kind of sheet he had to say next.

It’s horrible and I why I tune into nfl network but now they’ve bought that and are gonna slowly tear it apart more than it has in the past years. I was wondering where Kyle Brandt has been on GMFB and I see a clip today of him on Espn’s "Get up”. They’re about to be airing the SB this year and they’re cleaning house lol….for Pat McaFee.

I hope not, but possible. Also possible Mannion is another Steichen for him and he plays well in the system. I have that feeling. My gut says they have found his guy again. Hurts won't ever be a 5,000 yard guy, but I can see a 4,000 yard season, with 3-400 yards rushing. That is my bar for the season. Plus lots of wins.

That’s a bit high for a bar. First year in this system too.

3600 with 25-7

300 for 6

12-5, NFCE crown again. #2 or 3 seed. Anything less is a failure IMO.

Odd choice. Personally not a fan, but at least Pat isn’t intentionally obtuse. Still another personality that verges on being too emotionally driven when talking though.

Honestly all these commentators blend together for me. They all kinda suck and play the shock jock role to the point where it's just noise. Someone has the be pretty egregiously bad for me to even notice anymore, it's sad. Fire em all. McAfee included.

There must be, but that's the reason I've tuned out nearly ALL of those shows.

Notice the "shown”.

I don’t think I’ve really noticed or cared about the TV show Commentators for years and years. Any network or show. Meh.

I’ll pay a little attention to the TV crew announcing an Iggles game, but that’s it.

I liked PTI back in the day. Haven’t watched that though in like forever.

That 400 yard difference between 3600 and 4000 yards is only 23 yards a game.

ESPN used to have that show The Sports Reporters with John Saunders where it was just 4 of 5 people sitting around having cordial conversations on specific topics. Was always one of my favorite shows.

I don’t know how anyone has the time to pay attention to McAfee or any of these waste of talent commentators.

Could be a money laundering scheme.

IMO, what’s worse is people/fans actually get upset, angry, or offended, by what these Commentators say.

I live in LA. Got him from a breeder outside San Diego.

Addresses all the adult children living in their parents’ basement rather than getting a job. A bunch of retirees maybe but doesn’t seem geared towards Boomers. Don’t really know many Boomers that watch Daytime ESPN or Fox Sports or NFL Network. Maybe some work from home types play it in the background. I did that with CNBC some when I worked from home. I don’t think I have watched sports commentators in over a decade and even then I didn’t watch the blowhards. I am guessing the target market mirrors WIP. I think they see the success of the vitriol on social media and think that is today’s sport market. The same crap infiltrates the 24 "news” programming. It’s rarely news anymore, just blowhards spouting their opinions with limited factual analysis and many times crap for facts.

I used to watch GMFB most weekdays as it would go live at lunchtime and be decent entertainment for an hour or two. Since they made the change to partly move it to LA and reduced the time slot, I basically don't bother anymore. Its nowhere near what it was, and easier to watch something on YouTube instead. ESPNifying programs will only make it worse.

I have never listened to his show. I just don't see how making him more present on the platform improves the already thin levels of reporting they produce.

Exactly, most of my time is spent in the mines except when I have enough signal on my sat phone to post here.

Are they waste of talent, or merely waste of time commentators?

Another corporate dome that looks outside like the Rams stadium. Just so lame it's honestly depressing. Playoff games in KC no longer outside is a travesty.

Adding onto this that not every retired player should go to sports talk radio/tv
