He's an easy guy to root for and he certainly plays above his size. It's still weird to see though. It was like seeing an O-line version of Darren Sproles out there. I think he's earned a spot on the team but I would still be nervous seeing him in real games against better competition. Vita Vea and Dexter Lawrence would have 60+ pounds on him. The good thing is there isn't many dominate IDL that size anymore.

His lower center of gravity also makes him unique though.

A lot of people gave up on nakobe Dean after the first 2 years now those same people are crying that he is gone...Point being, not every player is going to stand out or play up to their abilities in the first year or 2.

Yup. People say don't judge a draft until about 3 years. There were times early on some fans called bust on players too soon like Brandon Graham or Jordan Davis.

After his rookie season a lot thought Jalyx Hunt was a JAG/backup. Many were concerned about Steen, he was good last year.

Yeah I am kind of seeing it from the opposite perspective...from the DL eyes. The Eagles are rolling out a stout, athletic, tenacious player to go up against. He never quits and when he gets his hooks on you, he doesn't let go... every play... whistle to whistle. Regardless of size, that is the kind of player that would annoy and frustrate the hell out of a defender. The defender may win a play once in awhile...but...

I agree, I would definitely be worried with him out there. I know they are completely different sports, but Sumo Wrestling has no weight classes because they rely on technique. Lampkin seems to have elite leverage, balance, and hand technique that really hasn't been seen before. I'm not saying size doesn't matter (😉), because it helps, but Lampkin has found a way to make his match ups more even.

Is Lampkin’s ability to hold up at the POA against 330+ lb guys really all that different from Kelce though? I’m not worried about Lampkin much at all at C, but more whether he can survive at G (which is huge for backup OL obv).

I personally think that signing Adoree would definitely be a plus for the Cowboys.

Lito Sheppard didn't even dress for a few games as a rookie.

I think the Eagles offensive success will come down to the offensive line. how effective they are at spreading the ball and workload around. Devonta Smith, Barkley, and Goedert will be used a lot, but how well Mannion and Hurts incorporate Lemon, Wicks, Stowers and Bigsby into the offense will tell a lot.

I’ve even heard national reporters comment on Bigsby being underutilized last year. I’d prefer see him and Barkley get the same workload in the first half of games, then Barkley used to finish games off.

If they sign Adoree they better cut Carson...that dude had a horrible preseason game 1, three penalties on the opening drive (2 PI calls and a hands to the face)...2s against 2s and he couldn't keep up, no way he can keep up with 1s. I am not a huge fan of signing Adoree, but he did begin to improve for you guys later in the year last year IIRC. IDK, just line'em up and let's play some football. I am so over the offseason and camp hype, they either got something or they they don't.

Same thing goes for the VM signing, can he get a few sacks still? yeh probably/maybe, the value I see in him for DAL is the experience and leadership, helping the younger guys learn and maybe picking up a few sacks along the way, other than that it's not a needle mover at all for me, he is not going to be a difference maker or a reason they do or don't have success this year in the long run.

He's almost 5 full inches shorter than Kelce and I don't think Donald was 250-270lbs when he played

Less than 4". Lampkin is 5'11", Kelce is 6'25/8".

As for Donald:

He told Chris Long on the "Green Light Podcast” this week that although he played at 280-285 pounds in his first two seasons, he played every other year at 267 pounds or lighter.

In 2018, he was at his lightest weight. During that season, he played between 250 and 260 pounds, weighing 258 pounds in the Super Bowl that year.

And the point I tried to make and said as much, is that shorter is not a disqualifier for an interior O lineman.

Didn't Kelce used to struggle until Howie brought in decent guards?

No, Kelce was good early but had certain issues. He was always good on the move. He was always decent in pass protection. He had issues with larger NG types early in his career. He also struggled with holding calls at times.

Interesting. I remember a lot of people complaining about him early on

Reporters ask such dumb leading questions. You made a mistake, did you learn from it? Was it fun? Were you nervous?

Instead ask open-ended questions that invite more thoughtful answers: What was it like stepping into a game for the first time? What did you learn about yourself tonight? What are your emotions like after playing your first game? What do you plan to work on in the coming weeks?

It's not because he's an international player, they do this with every interview.

Journalism, and sports journalism especially, is dead. Every reporter asks stupid closed or loaded questions which is why we get the same questions and answers from 32 different coaches and a billion players. No one asks hard questions, idk if they're afraid to lose their connections or what but it's incredibly awful.

Last season not one reporter had the stones to ask sirianni why they continued to run hitches at an abnormally high rate despite every available metric saying they were failing at it. Really no hard questions about the offense at all

That's a fair question to which I do not have a definitive answer. I would argue, though, that Lampkin is an excellent fit for a stretch/OZ offense, which is what Mannion is running. I worry, in fact, if Dickerson can run enough to fit that offense. He really appears to be laboring.

Glad to see Lampkin played well in the preseason game and got the attention. With wrestling background, he would know leverage and how to control the opponent. His lower COG also gives him the advantage to lift and move the opponents. Lighter in weight/bulk could be a disadvantage against much heavier DTs. He is raising in the depth chart and hope he makes the roster.

I'm not posting it on mobile but there's a lot of good x and o stuff by Devin Jackson on Twitter breaking down our new passing game.

Well his pro day measurement was 5’10” and 3/4 and I’ve heard that was a generous measurement. It’s still a pretty significant difference from Kelce who was considered short.

I won’t argue your overall point. His size doesn’t necessarily disqualify him. But if he does make it, he would be certainly be a unicorn in the NFL

So basically Mannion sucks. Also like they don't put every play they use in a game on tape or was it some sort of super secret play. My recollection is that every other play in 2021 was a WR screen.

I remember him starting off good but then regressing a few years in the Chip Kelly era. From Doug on he was in his prime.

As far as the preseason game, I like to check the snap counts to get an idea of who the coaches are trying to get some looks at.

Some players that got a lot of playing time:
Mac McWilliams (65 snaps)

Ambry Thomas (57 snaps)

Andre Sam (47 snaps)

Micah Morris (34 snaps)

Jake Majors (34 snaps) - I think they like what they see in Drew Kendall and Majors is just eating snaps

Would have liked to see Wisniewski and James-Newby. Pierce would be a solid practice squad vet. Seems they like what they see in Epps as he didn't see the field. Bennett played the first possession (6 snaps) and that was it.

As expected with a new offense, lots of penalties. I think the OL had 5 of the 10 total penalties. I expect that to get cleaned up for next week as they continue to build the foundation of this offense.
