I'd love for you to show what team has a great bottom of the roster.

Well last week the Eagles were able to show a a great bottom from their roster: Dallas Goedert.

if Elijah Mitchell stays healthy he’s intriguing. Never does though. But feel like Barkley is back this week based off the moves

The only ways to move off Hurts are a post June 1 trade like AJ, or cut him and designate him a post June 1 cut. But...you can't cut a player that hasn't passed a physical, so...

He's here in 2027. There's no other choice. They don't have enough cap room to trade him before June 1.

Do you think there's a possible scenario that Howie and Hurts/his agent discuss his future and mutually agree to part ways? Howie says we're going to draft a QB and have new coaches next year and go in a new direction, and you can be a part of that for a year and help a rookie along and then we'll trade you, or we can look for a trade partner now. Then do a deal like with AJ where it's known but announced after June 1st that involve future picks.

I'm just also wondering if Hurts wants out, he may be tired of all the coaching changes, getting blamed and now this blood clot issue. Fresh start for both parties, respectfully part ways.

I’d do it. However i can see why they wouldn’t. I think they really love Saquon and want to do right by him. Hence his extension after 2024. I’d do it but then creates another hole for 2027. Albeit FA could sign someone like chase brown

😂

Easy decision on a trade there. He ran behind an offensive line that I can run behind. It was a great 1 year tho. He needs holes and a good O line.

Gonna get like a 5th in exchange for brown and a 7th

The current d line isn't much better than the o line as it sits right now. I was thinking the eagles should just stop drafting DE since they've only drafted maybe two good ones in the last 25 years in BG and Trent Cole. But then it occurred to me they're even worse at signing FAs and making trades. How does it even get this bad?

A bit of hyperbole but not too much. Who else? Hugh Douglas was 98. Javon Kearse? Darren Howard? Josh Sweat? Meh.

I blame Julian.

Suspect Blue goes back to the PS.

Thought it was telling on where he is with the scheme that coaches didn't trust him for a single snap to spell Damon Pierce who damn near played every snap

Okay. I'm gonna be a troublemaker here. But I do remember a time when it was stated in here that AJ was gonna be on this team til the end of 2026 because of his cap hits. That narrative seemed to change pretty quick once it became obvious he wasn't coming back, which I had stated for a long time before all of that, that he wasn't coming back.

That was all about the June 1st milestone. The argument was between those who said he'd be traded at that time, vs those that said it has to wait until after June 1st because the cap ramifications were too significant.

They traded Wentz in Feb 2021 and took a massive hit in dead cap:

https://www.nfl.com/news/carson-wentz-trade-philadelphia-eagles-indianapolis-colts

"Trading Wentz two years after inking him to an extension will leave the Eagles with $33.82 million in dead money on their 2021 salary cap, the largest dead cap hit in NFL history (surpassing Jared Goff's $22.2 million in L.A.). The willingness to take on that dead money underscores Philly's desire to cut bait with the QB regardless of the costs or return."

So with Hurts before June 1st it would be $43 million cap and a $85 million dead money hit.

I think they'll draft a QB this year anyway, and have picks in 2028 as ammo to move up if needed. So if they do plan to trade Hurts, there's not really a rush to do it before June 1st. They can get more picks in 2028 from trading him. It's one of the reasons those extra picks in 2028 are valuable even though some didn't like not getting 2027 picks for AJ Brown. It's ammo, and flexibility.

I like hunt but really he’s a solid starter. Smith was great end of the 2024 run and has just never gotten back there. He’s a rotational edge at this stage. Greenard is made of glass apparently. They really could use a premier edge rusher. Frankly when was the last time we spent a first on a DE/pass rusher? Barnett? Prior to him it was Graham. They really do it once every like 7-8 years.

They absolutely should do that trade.

If they get even a 5th it's highway robbery.

Feels like having just Barkley and Pierce on the active roster at RB is likely an indicator they believe Barkley is back for Monday. Elevate either blue or Mitchell

No. I've been told this defense is great!

I don't mind selling players that they don't plan to keep as a core in the next 2-3 years anyway.

Guys I’d look to deal Hollywood brown, Nolan smith, Ojomo, woolen, Dickerson, Barkley.

Guys depending on the value they get I’d consider dealing: baun (one year left on his deal after 2026), dejean (have to be a big overpay)
