Good example of blaming Hurts for everything. They have a coach who won't get hired again, an OC who seems to suck, a bad scheme, OL who can't block, and RBs who got 7 total yards in a half so it seems like the team sucks in the 2nd half. Mahomes is the best QB in the league and has the best coach possibly ever and they need a complete team to win. Expecting Hurts to is unrealistic. "Literally anyone" as you mentioned will still need a good team around them to win. For the next year or two they already have a guy who has shown that ability which is a lot more than most out there like Dak, Stroud, etc

There is a middle ground on Hurts. Part of the consideration about whether he can lead the team back to the Super Bowl is whether he will get back to running the ball. I am not saying we need to get back to running a tush push based offense. He does need to get incorporated in the offense as a runner. If he is not willing to run, I am not sure whether he has the ability to lead the team back without being incorporated in the run game. Being involved in the run game likely limits his longevity. It's possible he could evolve into a more efficient passer like Dak. I think that is likely his ceiling. This kind of ceiling begs the question of whether the team can upgrade the position.

How much easier would it be for the team to compete if they are able to hit on a QB like Mahomes in the draft. That is the real consideration going into 2028 and even the 27 draft. QB is a premium position. You only have premium picks so often in the draft. Is there a prospect that has a good potential to be an upgrade on Hurts.

A tankette - so just a little bit of tanking.

Once again ignoring reality because you want to hate on Hurts. Running backs got 13 yards and 7 yards in two halves a few weeks ago. Tell me that's not the dog crap offense and scheme. You are literally a spoiled fan. No QB in the league would do well with that line, no run game, and horrible coaching. McKee had some good throws the same as Hurts, but the offense didn't look any better for a reason even with Smith back.

I don't hate Hurts at all. I've been one of his biggest supporters until he decided to stop running recently. I see a guy making business decisions out on the field. It's his prerogative but he can expect to be judged for it. I simply see the situation for what it is.

I was told Hurts threat of running is what made the running game as good as it was when Barkley was setting records. No RB in the league would do well running with this historically worst in the league passing offense. They load up the box and dare him to make a throw. Hurts has yet to give any team a reason to back off the loaded boxes and respect his passing game. No pass game, no run game.

On a sidenote, it's somewhat comical watching Mannion dial up play action. Like there's some threat the defense has to respect. They just keep loading the box. I've come to the conclusion that Mannion is a clown at this point. I've seen enough to know there's no improvement coming. He's no better than Pattullo. Maybe worse. What are the odds?

What a headline especially cause he had beer at home…. ph34r

No one is drinking light beer to drink the pain away especially when he has hand crafted premium beer at home. Let me know when he pushing out a grocery cart filled with 40oz bottles of malt liquor.

Don't do that either unless it's a 3 step drop and you're throwing the hottest we've seen in the past 26 years. (Because Eagles hot route game has not great even that long)

If we can't do a 3 step drop and quick slant, then get rid of the under center stuff completely. The offense has only looked functional (last drive against Titans, TD drive this past week that ended with pass to Smitty) when we go to gun.

Well, McKee is a backup. They are very often asked to step in mid game and you hope they can still lead you to a win.

McKee didnt have to come in mid game. He had practices to prepare.

Still, those practices were running things installed for Hurts's style of sucky QBing. And deploying that in game.

So this week is his best chance to prove himself with his own offensive install and a full week.

A backup QB doesn't get a better week of prep than this one.

Thats about all the evaluation we need- can the offense look better with McKee leading them.

If you mean further evaluation as far as if McKee can develop in to our next starter, I think that ship has sailed.

Also, the length of rope Hurts has been given by some fans in here is beyond idiotic. Thats not me. Dont put that on me.

I disagree strongly. Tanner came from a background of not running under center enough, into a brand new system of not just that, but into a situation where injuries are everywhere, after not having many reps thanks to the Dalton fiasco. The expectation from my end was that he'd definitely need 3 games BEFORE he was done settling. If the offense looks better by Monday, that's actually an eyebrow raiser of anything. Most people don't actually consider what kind of system he was originally from and stuff like that.

Yep. You gotta run 3 step drops only, if you try to drop 5 it's going to be a sack IMO. Takes too long.

People think I'm a Hurts Hugger now but I'm not. We saw him run vs TN and DC and look good, so he can. We agree he can't be just a pocket guy so if that's him or Nick it needs to be figured out. If he doesn't run I doubt he does have that ability. I'm good moving on from him, but again, who's better if they want to win the next two years? If they want to trade Burrow straight up for him, sure. If they have to add a first (and probably more) I wouldn't do that for a guy about to be 30 in Dec who didn't want to play long-term until a few months ago. One more major injury could have him thinking like Luck again.

I like Drew in this draft and not the rest. I watched the BYU game and Carr's passes looked weak and not like a guy I'd want. I'm not a fan of a 6' 25-year-old. They'd have to get one in 28 and who knows how high they'd pick. I just wouldn't burn a high first on someone this year vs an edge. They are so expensive you can't get one on FA and it would be hard for me to pass on a very good talent to reach for anyone other than Drew. If he's there then by all means get him.

I think we need to get to the bottom of things before we judge Hurts on the running. Is it like when Johnson was the OC and was on the same page as Hurts about changing stuff and Nick said no? I want Nick gone and that horrible scheme gone and a fresh pair of eyes to look at Hurts and the offense in general. If he says no to Hurts and they want to trade him in March then go for it, but have another plan because that offense still has talent.

The Hurts discourse is so tiring, yet here I am adding to it...

For a 2nd round pick, he's been a massive homerun. No question. And he has more than justified the contract we gave him, being the first (and to date only) $50mm AAV QB to win a Super Bowl while on that contract. So both those decisions were massive wins.

The question now is about the future and another extension. That conversation was going to happen this offseason before the blood clots. Now, that conversation will likely be punted to the offseason after the 2027 season. The Eagles have no incentive to extend him, and Jalen's team has no incentive to sign a deal from a position of weakness. They'll guarantee his 2027 comp (which is meaningless as the option bonus is ~98% of it and must be exercised by week 1) and punt the decision.

The other question is do you draft a QB in 2027 to sit behind him, or save all the draft capital for 2028? Personally, I'd wait until 2028 unless there is someone you love in this draft. If Jalen somehow becomes worthy of an extension, then you can use all those picks (2 1sts and 2 2nds) to build the roster. If he doesn't improve, you have all the capital you need to get the QB of the future.

This is why I think we have to basically drop the under center stuff and go back to almost exclusively gun. Both Hurts and McKee have almost no experience with under center stuff. Trying to install it with Jalen was going to have growing pains, and he got most of the reps. Tanner was getting 3rd team reps in camp mostly. Mannion has to adjust to his personnel.

We have 6 picks in the top two rounds of the next 2 drafts.

If you wait till '28 half of those picks will be gone.

This is the year. And I actually hope they dont spend many of them on getting a QB. The current iteration of the NFL doesnt require GMs to find the next generational QB prospect.

It requires defense, a run game, and a game manager QB.

I said last night I wouldn't extend him if that's what you are talking about. 1-2 years is all I'd keep him for.

But that’s not on the menu. I’d like to draft the next generational prospect in round 1 so we can move on. Hurts camp will say that opportunity isn’t there.

Keeping Hurts 1-2 years for a reasonable price isn’t feasible either. he’s going to demand an extension or a trade.

Wicks and Devonta will play, they both basically miss the first couple days lately then practice on the final day to manage the hamstrings.

Evan Neal I'm guessing is due to whatever is up with Lampkin.

Apparently Goedert and Lampkin aren't at practice either. Curious what's going on with them and DeVonta. I'd like to think it's mostly precautionary but who knows with this year.

He won't be looking for an extension this offseason - his value will be too low. I'd expect him to play 2027, then this comes to a head the following offseason.

He's also not really tradeable this offseason given the health concerns.

Historically, a ton of guys skip the 1st practice of the week. I don't get concerned until the 2nd day.

We have a good ole fashion beat off. 2 say Hunt isn't there, one says he is.

Only a third will be gone. We have 4 picks in the top 2 rounds in 2028 (2 1sts and 2 2nds). I'd be fine taking a QB in the mid rounds in 2027 and hoping to get lucky. I don't want to use that 2028 capital to move up for someone on 2027 - not sure I see the prospect that is worth it.

Gross but it's fine

Hoping it's on the PS and not the 53. If so, low risk shot on a former 1st rounder. No downside.
