Hyperfocused blog on just one thing was always my contention. This roster in whole is just not talented enough. And has bad coaching overall. So we are at a talent deficit and coaching deficit. All at the same time. Double whammy! On top of it, roster management and talent evaluation, up top with Howie Douglas has been terrible. It's a team effort of lousiness.

As a fan outside the area, there were maybe 2-3 games on local TV and the Eagles were pretty much blacked out from Monday Night Football until Vermeil showed up. My only memories of those time was watching the NFL Films or a weekly recap on Saturday afternoons. The only time I would see the Eagles players were in other teams highlight reels, missing tackles...pick sixes etc. I can't tell you how many times I watched Roger Staubach scrambling and seeing the Eagles players falling all over each other. trying to catch him..it was really embarrassing to watch. Compounding that, of course, was the naming of the Cowboys as "America's Team"...that just plain stirred up bad feelings.Living in Niner country, I do see a Cowboy fan every now and then...I pretty much laugh at them...when they try to flap their gums back at me...I just tell them that their fandom is a symptom of a serious mental illness...some laugh some want to push back but what the heck can they do?...they are so easy to make fun of...

If he craps out this year with hamstring injuries, he gets the shaft too and needs to wait for his dough. If that happens. We are in one huge rebuild here. My policy is no big contract extensions to guys coming off of injury plagued years. Love the guy, but no. Howie has to be disciplined and very firm in this rebuild. Got too giddy with the wallet.

About to be 28 and this is a sweet spot to be getting paid. And not next year at age 29. But we saw AJ ask for money way before his contract expiration and they gave it to him last time. Different circumstances of course with team winning timeline. Smith won't have as much leverage in an injury riddled season. But thats never stopped Howie before? Hopefully a non issue.
