I wouldn't be surprised at all if he signed for the vet minimum of $1.3M and has a little less than $2M in incentives.Got to see the details with the guarantees and how achievable the incentives are. I'm just saying I don't think this guy is a scrub like many of the past guys they've gotten. And merely saying that he will be an upgrade from what we have. Money aside, think he's better than Epps and Carter. We will find out. Doubt he's on the practice squad long. On a Superbowl defense, I would have Epps 4th on a depth chart and Carter as a 5th Utility/Dime type guy. These guys are not starter material. And Makuba is TBD.

I will note that Howie et al learned from Belichek (see Tuck rule Brady) that knowing the rules and what they say versus intent to scheme with that as long as you can get away with it. Note the Pangetti comment on the Pats displaying offset goalposts. He said the Eagles looked into whether they could do it. Not that the Birds reported or complained to the Roger hierarchy. And until Pangetti was out of the NFL, did he bother to mention it.

But a player doesn’t have to be recalled. Take Lampkin and Hinton last year. Late in the season, the Birds took advantage of the three week practice time but then declined to elevate them from ER. (Think about that when folks complain about Calcaterra and Bennett. Just because they designated them as players who could return from IR, because why not use the two PS options so if you need them, you can use the option, so there is a possibility neither see one of the 8 recalls used on them. Pretty much would bet that Bennett never sees the field again for the Eagles).

He spent May through a few days ago not on a team and no real interest from other teams. I wouldn't be surprised if he's primarily in a reserve role that doesn't see the field much.I rarely disagree with your player assessments but something tells me this will end up being a great pickup for PHI by the end of the season. I think he’s going to make a significant contribution. No reason for my prognostication, just a feeling that he’s going to make an impact.

Moore was brought in as nickel depth because the Birds current nickel depth all play S and McWilliams. If you had said that Moore was a better nickel than McWilliams, I would agree. Not sure at this stage of his career that he is a better nickel than Carter.

But he had a good week. I'm refraining from submitting my final A- grade for his offseason, til we see how Greenard works out and if he's damaged goods. Could go all the way down to a B-.

Moore is gonna play some safety here. Fangio likes the hybrid guy and I think this guy will be that and potentially can transition into that safety position. He can play in the box, blitz and tackle better than anyone they got. Possibly being a nice placeholder at safety for the next couple of years if it all goes smoothly. Think he's a perfect candidate to slide in there. I haven't really seen anything out of Carter and he's been here a half a year. Jets dumped him. That could be a sign. Did Cam Jurgens ever play LG? Well it was RG, and not well. I think Moore fits the mold for safety.

It’s why it’s even more important to take advantage of a break in the schedule these first 3 games and get off to a 3-0 start. It was the Tampa game in 2024 and Broncos game last season. The Rams, at this point, are not a good matchup for this team. Especially their offense vs. the current state of this defense.

I think Moore fits the mold for safety.Actually, the Jets traded Carter for some cap relief. Carter is 5’ 10” and 184 lbs. Weren’t you one of the posters complaining about his size? Mukuba is 5’ 11” and 186 lbs. Epps is 6’ and 198 lbs. Epps has looked like the best S, including Cooper, that the Eagles have played so far this year. But the grass is always greener……. Note that the Birds list Moore at 179 lbs. Not convinced he is in football shape after sitting out last year. I love that Jurgens moving from C to LG (having previously played RG), with obvious growing pains, is comparable to moving from CB to S. Not convinced I agree. Now, I will agree nickel has some commonality with S. Both are driven by instincts but deep also includes a different type of approach for a S than a nickel. May be why it has taken Carter a while to reacquaint with the skills he used in college at S.

Their safeties are all small except for Epps. My complaint had been their injury history and just not going into the season with those as your top 3. I think Epps is solid as a fill in, for maybe a couple games. That's it. Even in his prime here, he was meh. Moore plays bigger than his size and likes contact. Will be a nice boost on run defense. I see him as the best of that lot when he gets in shape and caught up on the defense. Also, won't make many mental errors. High IQ. Things are still moving fast for Makuba and Epps is just a step slow these days taking bad angles. Kinda like Reed.

Kinda like Reed.Moore is following the DB path for good corners late in their career, moving to S. Follow the ball make plays, no pressure as a boundary corner, rely on your experience reading the QB and make plays. Good signing.

September 25Sep 25 Popular Post I’ll be turning 60 years old in just over a month and my sister sent a family text a few days ago asking if anyone knew if our childhood home was still standing. I’ve thought about going back to see it a few times over the years, and her message made me decide to go see it today after 40+ years. I left home at 17 and sometimes think about the past, when my parents and all my siblings were still living and together in that house. My intention was to ring the doorbell to see if anyone was home, introduce myself, and ask if I could take a few pictures of the property. A lady answered the door and said "can I help you?” I said I was sorry to bother her but I lived in the house until 1983 and would it be okay if I looked around a bit. She said "you’re a McLean??” When I replied yes she asked me to come in. I was extremely surprised she would remember my last name.I spent the next two hours visiting with them at their dining room table. The same couple who bought the house from us all those years ago still live there. She is now 77, her husband is 82 and has dementia, as well as recovering from a stroke. I think they enjoyed having a visitor they shared some history with. He’s pretty far gone, but he came over and sat with us, came along when she toured me around the house, and even showed me the machine shop he’d built in the basement. She thanked me so much for visiting and told me it’s the most happy and outgoing she’d seen him in quite a while. Really nice old couple and I’m delighted the house my father built has been their home for generations. When I left she said to me "you must come back and visit again”, and she gave me a card with her name and phone number on it.I took a few pictures in the driveway and drove off. When I looked at the card more closely, underneath their names and phone number she wrote "forever friends.” Those words, and the fact her handwriting looks eerily similar to my own mom’s left me a bit emotional. Very glad I made the trip, and my sister really enjoyed seeing the photos.
