I think he’s going to make a significant contribution. No reason for my prognostication, just a feeling that he’s going to make an impact.I’m not saying he can’t come in and play well. I really have no idea what he’ll end up doing. I just feel like we’ve seen this story with the Eagles for the last few years when they bring in a Darius Leonard, Robert Quinn, Rashad Penny or AJ Dillion. I think it’s a fine depth move but I don’t like banking on older names to provide an immediate upgrade or impact. Especially when he hasn’t played much Safety at all in his career. He’s a nice depth piece and anything extra you get out of him is a cherry on top, imo.

I’ve thought about going back to see it a few times over the years, and her message made me decide to go see it today after 40+ years. I left home at 17 and sometimes think about the past, when my parents and all my siblings were still living and together in that house. My intention was to ring the doorbell to see if anyone was home, introduce myself, and ask if I could take a few pictures of the property. A lady answered the door and said "can I help you?” I said I was sorry to bother her but I lived in the house until 1983 and would it be okay if I looked around a bit. She said "you’re a McLean??” When I replied yes she asked me to come in. I was extremely surprised she would remember my last name.I spent the next two hours visiting with them at their dining room table. The same couple who bought the house from us all those years ago still live there. She is now 77, her husband is 82 and has dementia, as well as recovering from a stroke. I think they enjoyed having a visitor they shared some history with. He’s pretty far gone, but he came over and sat with us, came along when she toured me around the house, and even showed me the machine shop he’d built in the basement. She thanked me so much for visiting and told me it’s the most happy and outgoing she’d seen him in quite a while. Really nice old couple and I’m delighted the house my father built has been their home for generations. When I left she said to me "you must come back and visit again”, and she gave me a card with her name and phone number on it.I took a few pictures in the driveway and drove off. When I looked at the card more closely, underneath their names and phone number she wrote "forever friends.” Those words, and the fact her handwriting looks eerily similar to my own mom’s left me a bit emotional. Very glad I made the trip, and my sister really enjoyed seeing the photos.Had a similar experience with my FIL. Went to his hometown to inter her ashes and hold her funeral at the church where they were married. Because of her health and his, it was over twenty years since he was last there, so we drove around town with him reminiscing. We were stopped in front of his childhood home (at that point about 65 years after he fully left home). I offered to knock on the door and see if they would let him visit the house. Not only did they invite us in and give him a tour of the house, the couple (closer to my kids age than me and certainly him) sat down with him and visited for over an hour. It was so generous.About a year later, there was a knock on my door. A man and his children were at the door. He introduced himself and I instantly remembered his last name as the name of the folks we bought the house from about 35 years before. We invited them in and showed them around the house. We have made some changes to be sure. But we recalled which room was his and his dad added on our Florida room and extended our back porch. When he did, his kids put their initials in the pavement. I had long considered filling that in but never got around to it. I am so glad I didn’t because the kids were thrilled at that. Reading your awesome post, I wonder if he told the wife about the visit he and the kids had with "really nice old couple”.

Didn’t really care for the meat but I don’t remember any real fat, which is essential for sausage. A lot of sausage from lean meats, processors will add some pork fat into it. Was that the case for the alligator sausage.
September 26Sep 26 Reminds me of Reagor, another player that read his college accolades as meaning no growth or effort was needed any longer. Interesting all the legacy players that don’t succeed. The Birds latest was Hinton.

Very glad I made the trip, and my sister really enjoyed seeing the photos.Cool story. About five years ago my sister contacted the people who lived at the house my parents bought in the late fifties. We lived there (Delaware) for three years and moved only a couple of months after I was born. We moved down south briefly before eventually settling in New Jersey. My oldest sister remembers the house well, as well as the neighborhood playmates she had to leave behind when we moved. She's always spoken so fondly of those happy days. There were neighbors who lived up the street who we kept in contact with for about a decade but eventually grew apart. We had learned that the couple had eventually died. Anyway...The owner of the house (lived there since the mid seventies and "knew" just about all the kids my sister had known as kids but in his case as teenagers) contacted her, and invited us to come visit. So two of my three sisters and I drove down with both of my parents, met the guy and his elderly mother, and got to see the house. It was very nostalgic for my oldest sister and my parents. It was a little weird for me since I didn't know the house. Having slept there as an infant for a few months isn't really the same experience as it was for them. I did get to see the walkway that my grandfather had built when I was born, not knowing that my father was going to be transferred only a handful of weeks later. So that was cool. And it was nice to hear my mother chatting with the elderly woman who had lived there for decades, talking about their experiences. "Oh, that's where we used to put the Christmas tree too!"
