I don't remember seeing that reported anywhere. If they had advance notice and knew Fred would be out what in the hell is Howie seriously doing this year? And why is it being reported as some bombshell an hour and a half before the game vs something they saw coming?

That’s not true. They would have had to list him as DNP which they didn’t

That was my first thought. You don't bail the morning of a game like that. It would not shock me if tomorrow or Tuesday he retired

Lane's head and heart just may not be into this. I'm prepared for issues here going forward. Not necessarily a 1 week thing here and we are done.

Very excited to see Bell play today. Iheanachor was my first round pick for the eagles and he sucked on Thursday (still think he’ll be a good one though). Would love to see Bell outshine him with a good game today and provide the OL with some clarity moving forward.

Love Lane and what he’s done for this franchise, but it’s clear he’s retiring one year too late. He proved me very wrong by having a few good years after I assumed he was cooked (including a 2nd SB ring).

He’ll be back at some point this year, but we all knew it was a matter of time until that RT shoe dropped like a ton of bricks on this OL that was so concerned about the interior.

Better to get it over with now.

Where? Beat writers watch them stretch and warm up and say who is there each day, who isn’t on the field and who is there but not in uniform. You think they wouldn’t mention Lane being absent?

Love Lane for everything hes has done, his next stop is Canton. But this year should be his last, let's hope Bell can carry the mantle.

You are right. I googled it and articles came up that he missed all 4 practices this week but checking a 2nd time it was dated first week of August. A shock to see Lane bail on his teammates last second. I wonder if he won't retire this week

This team was never gonna have a chance, unless the defense took the next step this year. On paper, it should. I think they will come around by the 2nd half of this season. Lot of people banged up or out of shape or not conditioned. This 1st half of season is about holding the fort and not self destructing. Not going to be to too reactionary for awhile. Taking the long view. Want to see glimpses and incremental growth in different facets of the team. There's enough talent here. Need to execute and get healthier.

I imagine the rams will stack the box, and their secondary is decent. Can Jalen make a difference with his legs, maybe, but he kind of mailed it on Monday… so his mentality might be to live to fight another day.

I got it wrong. I googled Lane missing practice and multiple articles came up he missed all 4 this week but checking back they were from first week of August

So messed up.

We would have been better off making Kellen Moore our HC

I’m purely speculating here….but it sounds like the Eagles knew this was coming for several days and went out of their way to keep it under the radar until the game day inactive list came out.

They love their privacy and they love withholding every last ounce of info from the other team. It won’t take the Rams long to create a game plan designed to stress a patchwork OL, but better they salivate now than having all week to scheme it up, make it worse, and anticipate the Eagles adapting into a short drop quick release passing offense.
