If your argument is that it's not fair to blame only the defense, yeah. Everyone plays a factor.

However your logic has been that the defense "held" the Chiefs and the offense should have scored more. By that logic, if the Eagles defense was horrible and gave up 55 points (the current SB record of most points), then the Eagles offense should put up more points. It's not like it was a low scoring game. In this case, the Chiefs 38 points was 11th most in SB history. The Eagles 35 was the 15th most in history (their two wins are 8th and 9th on the list). That's a high scoring game. Your argument would make sense if the Chiefs scored like 10 points but the Eagles couldn't produce. It was an offensive shootout, everyone acknowledged that had the Eagles got the ball back they likely would have scored and won.

Also, Hurts fumble wasn't "the deciding point factor in the game." It happened in the 2nd quarter. The next two scoring possessions were by the Eagles, they got a lead of 24-14. Entering the 4th quarter, the Eagles were winning 27-21. The defense gave up two back to back touchdowns in the red zone with WIDE OPEN receivers uncovered. They went up 35-27, the defense gave that up. The Eagles then came back and tied it. Then a holding call by the defense gave the Chiefs another set of downs and the win.

To go back and claim that Hurts 2nd quarter fumble was the deciding factor just shows bias. Yes it was one of the factors that led to Chiefs points, but so were the defensive plays that gave up points.

If the defense didn't give up just one of these wide open plays, the team wins.

Woulda coulda shoulda….that’s not my argument at all. Read what I wrote again and read the OP. I’m assigning no blame to anyone, not shifting blame anywhere. I’m saying that you can’t absolve a single person of any and all blame who had a very costly error.

We are all Eagles fans (minus a few)…the average person with a basic understanding of that game comes away saying it simply boiled to down which QB made the least mistakes through out the game. Neither D was stopping the opposing O the entire game. It’s not black and white. A couple things can be right at the same time. There is no absolutes.

This is essentially what this whole thing is from 1 side. We aren’t that starved for good Hurts tape that we need to point to a game that long ago and still have this talk.

Understood, but you didn't say that. You said you're down on the team and not excited about them.

You know the story of fans in the 60s throwing snowballs at Santa? Those fans suffered terrible years of losing and bad owners and they showed up in the cold to watch their team. I'm not saying anyone has to go to a game, but when you have a rare opportunity in London and someone's paying for it, citing being down on the team is strange and then to call yourself "diehard."

And I give those fans huge credit! Because it’s no fun watching this team on the TV. And in the NFL it’s even more miserable right? It’s a relatively short season and the games are long. But it’s also a very good point you make. I had the chance to go and see the Birds and I turned it down. And I did so for the wrong reasons. I do think this team is hard to watch but… it’s about being a part of a community and I’ve lost sight of that.

Fine, this I agree with. I was just addressing points you made previously that I disagreed with. Moving on though.

These folks are having a great time, makes the Super Bowl look completely lame.

It’s what i was saying from the beginning. People just get too defensive and twist words…the problem here with pages and pages of comments. Context can easily get lost. Cheers.

Winning the division? I know the division is a mess but this team isn’t good enough to win the division. Could the defense turn it around? Yeah it could. But this offense is going to be a hot mess the rest of the way.

They will win the division

Where am I assigning blame to anyone?

Wow...

That fumble is just as much of the reason they lost as the D, if not more. You can’t shift blame when that was a major turning point of the game. We got our revenge a couple years later….water under the bridge, but out of touch hyperbolic statements like those are just as much of a reason.

Everything okay with you? What's going on here

What you're saying is the defense played well enough to win but Hurts didn't. That is absolutely ridiculous unless you are blind, disingenuous or just have no idea what you're watching

Reading isn’t your strong suit. Go back to the beginning.

Someone took this as a shot at hurts and ran with it. You jumped in late.

I said the D held the chiefs O to less than what the eagles O put up.

Which, Barney style…stay with me, means technically both did their job. Meaning that it wasn’t exclusively the D that let him down. Which was what the OP said. There was an unforced fumble returned for a touchdown and bad ST coverage that ended up being the deciding factor in the game.

You’re really making this into something that it’s not.

I'm reading you trying to backpedal by saying you're not blaming anyone after literally saying the fumble was just as much the reason for the loss, if not more.

So either you don't understand the meaning of the word blame, or you're too proud to admit you overstepped on this in a rushed attempt to defend a dogshit performance by the defense.

Well I did neither 🤣. Again go back to the beginning. Instead of reading at the middle. You can cherry pick all you want. This is ridiculous. You want to blame me for people taking a break?

Nope. Reading is key. My original post didn’t mention hurts. Said actually the O scored more than the chiefs O. Which is…indicative of hurts performance leading to that. Try again.

Gatekeeping fandom is weird, who cares. The guy doesn't want to waste an entire day plus money at the stadium to watch what he feels is a crap product. That doesn't make him any less of a fan than anyone here

Yeah bud, I'm cherry picking by pointing out the literal point in the conversation, "if not more", where you tried to blame Hurts for the loss. Keep dying on hills rather than admit you were wrong when it's clear as day.

Yeah a big part of my intrigue is his current draft projection. Maybe he climbs throughout the season and draft process. But, as of now, seems like he’s flying a bit under the radar with quite a bit of upside.

Very early in the process but my preliminary guess is Manning and Moore go top 5, Mestemaker and Carr closer to the 10-20 range. Chambliss and Sellers late first or second round.

I also have a lot going on right now! And so yes I made the decision that I didn’t want to spend a day and a lot of money going to watch a team that for 12 months I’ve found hard to watch.

There's nothing wrong with that bro.

Hmmm cherry picking is finding something that suits your narrative. Which is…checks notes….what you did. I made a simple and true statement. One that didn’t say the D played well and didn’t mention Hurts. A very open statement to counter a claim that the loss was all on the defense. Then someone made it into something that it’s not. Finally, you jumped in the middle trying to be the smartest in the room as usual. Look I’m not trying to be a d but wtf are you even arguing. You literally argue to argue sometimes. You don’t get points for winning the internet.

Interesting….I’m not a big draft guy, but I’m surprised to see you would have Chambliss below Mestemaker and Carr.

Either way, it looks like the Eagles would have an opportunity to get a very good QB prospect if they choose. Carr is impressive also

I’ve looked at a bunch of different mock drafts, Chambliss is the most all over the place of the QBs. I’ve seen him from top 10 even top five all the way to the back end of the first round. I wouldn’t be surprised if he moves all the way up because I think teams are gonna like him. And at the same time, I wouldn’t be surprised if he winds up like Lamar Jackson, where he’s in the tail end of the first row.

This is Ertz last game unless they sign him to the 53
