Bro they're 2-2, have made the playoffs every year under Siri, a recent championship. Giving up on the team is bandwagon mentality.

Eagles fans suffered long droughts in the past. Since Lurie bought the team they've been consistently winning and competitive, and won 2 championships with different coaches & mostly different players.

You're acting like they're the Jets.

Define "giving up."

Not genuinely expecting this season to amount to anything?

Not spending 100's to 1000's of your hard earned money on the team?

Going to a message board to vent to other Eagles fans?

Believing the needle is pointed down for the team?

Not watching the games?

Becoming a fan of another team?

Curious which ones count.

The number I had in my head was a 5th, tbh.

4th is probably about right for a team that can surround him with the right situation, which likely isn't us.

Frankly, I really don’t think it’s Howie‘s MO to give up the type of capital to get a guy who’s unproven in the nfl even though he has a higher pedigree coming out of Ohio State. I think he would take a flyer if it was a mid to late round pick. But giving up the type of capital that’s being talked about, I don’t see it.

I do find it interesting that it is the Texans as a team that was mentioned. He has played with CJ Stroud at Ohio State. But there were rumors this off-season about the Texans trying to trade Nico Collins. He is a free agent at the end of 2027. I wouldn’t be shocked with his durability concerns that the Texans would try to trade him this off-season and capitalize on his value rather than giving him another extension. To trade him pre 6/1 saves 8.9 mil and 33 mil dead money. Could do an AJ post June 1 and it’s $30 mil savings with 12 and 21 mil dead money in 2027 and 2028

This under-the-radar story if kind of fascinating. I would bet this is the first time in NFL history a trade has been consummated with this unique sequencing.

The communication with the involved player has to be interesting too. Rather than telling a player they are traded and need to report to Baltimore for a physical....now it's....you are about to be traded, please meet with the Ravens medical staff at our facility.

Tbh think it is this too. If they had gotten what they wanted, the cardinals aren’t waiting to get that deal done and the team acquiring him would likely not either. imo feels like the chiefs or raiders

Kind of think this goes back to them failing Maxx Crosby with his physical after the trade was announced then signing Trey Hendrickson. So they didn’t wanna have to go through we made a trade then he fails his physical and they get dumped on again.

Absolutely that....and that Jurgens is a player many feared would not pass a physical.

Oh FFS. The defense that gave up 6.4 yards per play was less at fault than the best player on the field who wins MVP by a mile if they can get one stop when needed? That's the hill you're gonna die on right now? Are you drunk or something? Hurts was literally our entire offense that game. It's not hyperbole at all to say he single-handedly kept us in it. By this dumb logic Tom Brady was more at fault for losing LII than his defense too. This is one of your all-time bad takes, dude. Yikes.

Where am I assigning blame to anyone?

I made a simple comment that it’s weird that the D who held the chiefs to less points than the O put up is the reason we lost. Basic reading comprehension the OP is assigning all blame to the defense and absolving specifically one person of blame.

Once again, the defense wasn’t great. Hurts was. However, he had an unforced error that ended up being the deciding point factor in the game. Him playing otherwise great doesn’t make him immune from criticism. We spend years blasting other QBs for the same crap but because it’s Hurts, it’s everyone else’s fault and he’s absolved of all blame? . And yes Brady is a great example. Both offenses came to play and a TO by the QB was one of the big factors on who won. So was his dropped pass, which we still make fun of him for today. So was bad defensive play on both sides. It’s almost like football is a team game. Wow. If hurts doesn’t fumble, hand them 7…then absolutely we shift all blame to the defense and gannon. Then we aren’t having a convo about it.

I said it the other day, talking about hurts is like modern day politics. You have a small vocal minority on both sides that screams so loud that it’s impossible to have a rational convo. He f’d up, the D had a sub par game because Gannon was house shopping instead of calling plays, the field was trash. We lost. It happens. It’s football. Both teams get paychecks.

"Significant draft capital" Texans about to get fleeced

On a separate issue...

There has been Andrew Luck and Trevor Lawrence. A couple others that come to mind are Matt Leinart and Caleb Williams. What do they have in common?

Well, for one, they have 0 combined SB rings. But that's not actually my point. They are just the most recent QB's that come to mind when I think of prospects that were extremely hyped for a full season in advance of their draft declaration. Varying degrees of success.

Some of the best prospects, irregardless of NFL success, really do not declare themselves or burst onto the scene until the culmination of their last year, best examples probably being Burrow and Mendoza.

I say this in reference to the Eagles positioning themselves for 2028 versus 2027 drafts to pounce on a QB.

No one in the right mind is giving the Cardinals a first round pick for Marvin Harrison Jr.

I said, the Texans make sense cause he’s played with CJ Stroud at Ohio State. at the same time, they might be thinking this off-season about moving on from Nico Collins. He needs a contract extension. He has one year left after this season. it is viable to trade him based off his contract. there were rumors last off-season. Heck there were rumors a week and a half ago about them potentially trading Nico Collins. I wonder if some of this is, if MHJ pans out it makes it easier to not pay Collins who’s 28 next year but when his extension kicks in will be 29 going on 30. He has missed 16 games last 4 years and that doesn’t include this year where he’s missed two already.

I’m really not bud.

Giving up on them given the issues we’ve seen so far this year that follow the issues they had last year. Given the awful performances they put in so much of last year. Given the problems that we all saw coming in to the season.

I think looking at the record and thinking they can still be okay is wishful thinking. The OL was a bit of a concern coming in to the season based on how banged up there might be. But this isn’t a bit of a concern anymore it’s the reality. This OL is bad and for this season I think the best case is for them to become average.

I still love this team and I’m still an Eagles diehard fan. I just don’t like where they are at and to be honest I’m ready for Sirianni to go.

So diehard that they traveled to London, you had someone offer to pay for the tickets but you're down on the team so you're not going.

MHJ is not coming to Philly. Play the season out to the trade deadline. If the season at that point is washed, unload a few older, 1 year contract players.

I’m tired and rambling. 🦮🙃

Who even wants Him to come to Philly? Who is rambling?

My random guess on why it’s playing out like this is he’s going to Jacksonville, but the Jags already flew out to London and don’t want it to be a distraction

I also have a lot going on right now! And so yes I made the decision that I didn’t want to spend a day and a lot of money going to watch a team that for 12 months I’ve found hard to watch.

Very intrigued by Mestemaker

I like him, but my only concern with him is he’s more gangly in movement than fluidly athletic — similar to Wentz in that way. I enjoyed Wentz’s escapability and keeping plays alive, but I always worried he’d get hurt as it seemed like an arm would be in a bad spot while getting hit. I did not foresee Wentz getting his entire knee shredded beyond full repair from a collision at the goal line, but he did always get dinged up a lot.

I’m not as high on this QB class as most others, but I do think there’s an opportunity to draft a good one a bit later in the first round than having to get up to #1 or 2 overall. TBH, at this point I’d be happy targeting Mestemaker or Carr a bit later on and let other teams whiff on Manning, Moore, and Chambliss.

Imo they're fine there with Washington, Meyers and BTJr. That's a solid crew.

I don’t disagree, but this is playing out very weird so it’s gotta be something off the wall like that. Shefter reported its finalized but can’t say who. Someone doesn’t want you to know for a specific reason

Yeah a big part of my intrigue is his current draft projection. Maybe he climbs throughout the season and draft process. But, as of now, seems like he’s flying a bit under the radar with quite a bit of upside.

If your argument is that it's not fair to blame only the defense, yeah. Everyone plays a factor.

However your logic has been that the defense "held" the Chiefs and the offense should have scored more. By that logic, if the Eagles defense was horrible and gave up 55 points (the current SB record of most points), then the Eagles offense should put up more points. It's not like it was a low scoring game. In this case, the Chiefs 38 points was 11th most in SB history. The Eagles 35 was the 15th most in history (their two wins are 8th and 9th on the list). That's a high scoring game. Your argument would make sense if the Chiefs scored like 10 points but the Eagles couldn't produce. It was an offensive shootout, everyone acknowledged that had the Eagles got the ball back they likely would have scored and won.

Also, Hurts fumble wasn't "the deciding point factor in the game." It happened in the 2nd quarter. The next two scoring possessions were by the Eagles, they got a lead of 24-14. Entering the 4th quarter, the Eagles were winning 27-21. The defense gave up two back to back touchdowns in the red zone with WIDE OPEN receivers uncovered. They went up 35-27, the defense gave that up. The Eagles then came back and tied it. Then a holding call by the defense gave the Chiefs another set of downs and the win.

To go back and claim that Hurts 2nd quarter fumble was the deciding factor just shows bias. Yes it was one of the factors that led to Chiefs points, but so were the defensive plays that gave up points.

If the defense didn't give up just one of these wide open plays, the team wins.

Understood, but you didn't say that. You said you're down on the team and not excited about them.

You know the story of fans in the 60s throwing snowballs at Santa? Those fans suffered terrible years of losing and bad owners and they showed up in the cold to watch their team. I'm not saying anyone has to go to a game, but when you have a rare opportunity in London and someone's paying for it, citing being down on the team is strange and then to call yourself "diehard."
