But that's exactly what Sirianni is doing....he literally accepted his new role and is letting the coordinators do it.

How do we know that to be the truth? What influence does Sirianni currently have? What influence does Howie have? Of course I'm talking offense - every fan knows Fangio is not getting questioned or challenged about his play calls.

Complete mis-management from the top, we know we have a talent limited QB that we signed to 250 million and we ask him to learn a new offense year in and year out, that the head coach cannot help with.

No wonder this season is imploding - what we've chosen to do is not sustainable nor does it make sense, unless you have a healthy talented roster for most of the season.

We've gone from "all he does is win" to "all he does is put us in a position to win."

Man we are really reaching now.

Also can we stop acting like the Eagles almost beat the 2007 Patriots? I've heard for the last 48 hours how tough the Eagles played and what a valiant effort it was. I mean the Jags are a solid team they aren't some all time dynasty. We've lowered the bar so much where playing a team close that maybe played its worst game of the year is now a silver lining. That's how far we've fallen.

People just keep lowering the bar and lowering the bar.

How do we know it's not the truth?

2 options:

  1. Siri is meddling and his meddling is destroying the offense.

  2. Siri is only calling timeouts, making go-for-it decisions on 4th, and watching from afar while Mannion runs the offense through Hurts and calls the plays.

The Eagles franchise told us left, right, up, and down that #2 is what we were doing. So why are we going with #1?

Yes, please put us on at 1:00.

If Mike McDaniel gets fired midseason I wonder if the Eagles will bring him in as a consultant like Dallas did with Pettine given he was their #1 OC choice in the offseason. Or by that point if they're considering bringing in a consultant their season is probably Fed so maybe they just accept their fate.

I really find it remarkable that a majority of people think Sirianni is still running this offense. Did we just completely ignore the entire narrative put forth by Eagles brass this offseason?

Sirianni was all but publicly neutered. They are running someone else's offense. Someone else is calling the plays.

And everyone just craps all over Sirianni every time it falls flat on its face. His entire role this year is to be the fall guy for Howie's offensive personnel and Hurts' shortcomings as a QB. And he's been willing to do it just to keep the HC job another year.

In the offseason he'll get fired and the personnel will still suck and Hurts will still suck. Just as there is no Patullo to blame this year, there will be no Sirianni to blame next year. I'm going to gouge my eyes out being told that the offense will be so much better just because we've subtracted Sirianni, addition by subtraction. And the cycle continues.

I am not crapping on Sirianni. I do not know what role he plays in the dysfunction. I really don't think he is bad at in game decisions despite the bad outcomes the last 2 weeks. I also think it's reasonable to assume he has opinions on playcalling, game planning and personnel that have not helped. He is in offensive meetings. He is talking to players. He is running practices. He coaches on the field. He emphasizes winning the turnover battle. He has direct influence on how the team performs. Just like Hurts influences playcalls based on his preferences. I think Sirianni has some level of influence. We have seen these problems repeatedly come up with the team. Like Hurts he is a common denominator in the problems the offense had last season.

After last night, Josh Allen's career OT record should read 0 wins and 8 losses. Took a bad Rams kicker to change that. He's a great QB. No doubt. But the clutch factor is what's missing here. If you can't see that you are blind. How is your career overtime record 0-7? He doesn't close the deal. As of yet!

As an eagles fan watching Hurts and this offense this year, curious why you’d be excited to see Hurts get extended.

I am reserving judgement til I see him with a full deck and not 2nd, 3rd and 4th stringers. We have had 6 past Pro-Bowl level type starters missing a bunch of games here. And I would like you to give me a concrete answer on his replacement and not an imaginary scenario. If he finishes out this year on the upswing, he stays. You think Howie can evaluate these 5 games up to now and say that no, Hurts is not our guy? Lurie is not letting go easy here. He definitely will be playing a huge role here.

Jake to the Rams for a 4th in a couple of weeks depending on how things play out? Woolen would really help that crappy Buffalo secondary and give them a chance against KC. How about for a 4th? Don't think Woolen's FA contract would fetch us a third comp pick but maybe Howie can hold out for a 3rd. They need Woolen to get to the Super Bowl. Ojomo to Detroit/Buffalo/Niners/Packers/Bears. All contenders than need DL help. I would much prefer to re-sign Woolen and Ojomo but if Howie knows it won't happen you trade them for a haul if the season deteriorates. You just can't wait too long.

He’ll probably go somewhere else like the Rams or Niners. Especially since there’s history there. I don’t know why he’d wanna come to Philly.

This dysfunction is hard to judge when we don't know whose doing what. But history with Sirianni has shown that when he calls the plays, it is not productive yet predictable and vanilla. If Sirianni was able to contribute he would be pulling a Sean Payton right now but guess what, the guy can't call plays, he didn't even do it in IND......but he keeps telling himself that he needs to be involved. No one knows what the heck Sirianni is doing.....sorry if my argument was confusing - pure speculation, but most fans and reporters highly doubt Sirianni is just sitting back waiting for Mannion to figure it out as we are in week 6 and our offense is historically bad.......right now it looks like either Mannion is deer in the headlights and Sirianni can't help bail him out or Mannion is getting to call certain plays based on certain drives and yes Sirianni butts in and calls certain plays. If this wasn't the case would we possibly have an insider reassure the fanbase that Sirianni is NOT intervening, therefore exploiting Mannion who is new and unproven, wouldn't reporters want Sirianni to be erased of any blame if he wasn't responsible for it? Based on the "respect" this city has for a coach with such a high winning percentage?

Hiring a WR coach to replace an O-Line coach to be run game coordinator was a bad idea. Who would have thought.

If they lose this week, thoughts have to start going that way. It will probably need to get to 2-5 to really convince Howie to sell. I think they turn it around this week. Had them losing to the Rams and beating the Jags (as I thought they would take them lightly), but unfortunately we had a brain fart from our coach to gift them the game. A lot of fluky crap happening in these games in what is a bizarre season. Team is severely undermanned and playing hard. I'm not off the train yet.

The question you buried in the middle of your post? "You think Howie can evaluate these 5 games up to now and say that no, Hurts is not our guy?"

I mean I think that he shouldn't have even needed these 5 games to know that Hurts shouldn't be the guy moving forward. I think these 5 reinforce it. And I expect the next 1.5 seasons in which Hurts will still be the QB here to do nothing but continue to reinforce it.

I’ve been back and forth on Hurts since he got here. I know he’s not always going to great, or good… or even decent.

But the guy has won us a Super Bowl and got us to another. He’s made the playoffs each year as a starter and is definitely the most accomplished QB in the franchise’s history.

Let’s show at least a shred of respect.

I buried it. 🤣. Find me his replacement. So far every time another QB has played here in his tenure instead of him has showed nothing. Everybody lauded McKee and he **** the bed. When Hurts is out of the game this is a 4-13 quality team. He gives you a shot right now. Not going thru New York Jets types of seasons to appease everyone in here.

That's what I said about Sirianni. Fair to ask that for Hurts discussion. But I wouldn't say that stating he shouldn't be the guy going forward is not showing a shred of respect.
