If Mike McDaniel gets fired midseason I wonder if the Eagles will bring him in as a consultant like Dallas did with Pettine given he was their #1 OC choice in the offseason. Or by that point if they're considering bringing in a consultant their season is probably Fed so maybe they just accept their fate.

The guy sucks

I buried it. 🤣. Find me his replacement. So far every time another QB has played here in his tenure instead of him has showed nothing. Everybody lauded McKee and he **** the bed. When Hurts is out of the game this is a 4-13 quality team. He gives you a shot right now. Not going thru New York Jets types of seasons to appease everyone in here.

I'm not saying to bench him. And, no, he's not giving us a shot right now. Their second half offense and 3 game losing streak dispute that.

I'm just saying to NOT extend him and to draft a QB as soon as the right one presents himself, be it 2027 or 2028.

Did you consider that they have the inability to make adjustments in the 2nd half? Because he is playing well in the 1st half with a preseason lineup. These answers need time and evidence with a full roster and more reps together in a totally brand new scheme and play caller. Til that happens it's hard to read things. And you do realize most of these QBs bust, even the top dogs? Everyone acts like that's a sure thing. Could be years of losing. Wentz wasn't anything great. And gave up the farm. There's a lot of risk there.

Mannion's biggest wart right now is the constant condensed sets, but that was also an issue last year. Why are we in a totally different offense, but still have the same issue that we had last year?

Other major problem is the obsession with screens. They're useless, remove them from the playbook until you can figure out why they don't work. They work in practice because our edges have zero play recognition and just blow by pulling linemen and Campbell doesn't either.

Besides those two things, I don't see a problematic offense. Guys are open, the ball isn't getting out in time. Sometimes it's the line, sometimes it's the QB. I think the line was mostly fine in pass pro on Sunday, obviously terrible run blocking. Don't bring up pressure rate when they were bringing more than we had, in most hat on hat scenarios they looked good enough. This another area Mannion needs to improve. You're allowed to keep both a TE and RB in to block, you don't have to choose.

Tl;dr, now that we've removed the two biggest problems on O (LD and CJ), the next step is to chuck the screens and condensed sets out the window.

I told you what I'd do. What would you do?

Extend him this offseason? If so, for how many years and how much $$?

Why is it that Hurts gets a pass for playing with all these backups but McKee "**** the bed"? McKee looked bad in preseason, and Hurts looks bad now, but McKee sucks and Hurts is great it's the backups and defense and special teams that are the problem

I told you I'm reserving judgement. Contract expires in 2 and half years. Relax!

What would you do? This season plays out on its current trajectory.

Come on bro! The coaches put Andy effin the scrub Dalton in front of him all preseason. What's that tell you?

I need to see every game of this season to evaluate. That's it. Will have a more solid answer later.

Then sign off the blog and come back then.

No one else is allowed to question Hurts (in year 7 in the league and 6 as a starter) until it all plays out. You won't even speculate what you'd do with him as he looks like garbage right now. Your bias is showing too much here.

Dude. You are unreasonable and maybe the biased one. I think you need to sign off and save alot of bandwidth here. I effin told you he's playing with a scrub roster right now and it's absolutely impossible to make heads from tails here. When he has a good roster we usually make the playoffs and then some. Thanks for your attention to this matter. You love making this the Hurts blog. Get original here with your content.

This is where I wonder if Hurts is being told to hand it off even if it supposed to be an RPO. Maybe they think the design will make the DE pause but it's not a typical inside zone play. The OG and OT are not blocking down. They are pulling. The DE is going to be coached to chase a pulling OT rather than account for the QB. It would not work as a even as a read option because the OLB has a free run at the QB. There is no OG moving up to the second level to engage him. If Hurts pulls the ball, the OLB is going to meet him at the LOS.

It tells me Howie didn't want to admit he wasted a draft pick on a useless tool

You do not extend him. You see how next year goes

No. Not really. If he makes it clear that McKee is his clear backup, his trade value is higher. He actually effed up the guy's value that was way higher than Dalton's. Dalton cost a late 7th rounder. If McKee was all of that he's your backup this year from jump. You don't risk games to fetch a late 7th rounder. He gets that in his sleep on draft draft day.

You refuse to say if you’d extend Hurts in the offseason if the trajectory doesn’t change.

You know there’s only one answer to this question. You just won’t say it because you can’t.

There's no gun to the head to extend him. He has 2 years left in his contract after this year. He has to be the absolute cause of the losing to say no that fast. This OL is the 32nd ranked in the league or close and can't block anyone in the running game. Last night with the Bills you see what a competent OL can do for an offense with the Bills especially. Do you have any ability to evaluate an entire team and not just the QB?

Say it.

He was shouting from the mountain tops all offseason how much better the offense would be this season because of his ESP esque contrarian agenda against AJ Brown. It's almost like the offense sucked for a billion reasons aside from just AJ Brown and losing him didn't make anything better. Give him some time to accept this during this difficult time. Must be a hard pill to swallow being that wrong.

I said everything. You can't read. My fault. You want to read and skim and say gotcha. You are bad with details. Very obvious. Have a good day lad!

He is the answer to win now not long-term. Not in 3 to 4 years. They will be drafting a rookie and I have no problem with that but I don't want to give up on the next two years either. There aren't any QBs to trade for. Justin will get destroyed here on top of being overrated. Who else? Burrow? The guy who just decided he doesn't want to retire early and gets injured? He is one bad hit from turning into Luck. I'm not giving up multiple firsts for him.

My point the last few weeks isn't that Hurts doesn't have flaws it's he is the best chance to win short-term. No free agents or trades will be better. Build the OL and improve the team while he plays the next two years and they develop a pick. Best chance to win while still building for the future. You don't extend him though.
