The Offense was a mess BEFORE the injuries. Not sure whom to fire, or where to even begin to fix the mess that it is. 😣😬☹️

Every play under center is either a run or play action - so blitzing works either way. It's never a straight drop back to a slant over the middle (that has been vacated by blitzing LBs) or a screen (since we only call WR screens and not RB or TE screens in the middle). I have to think a straight drop back and quick slant to Wicks would be there every time...

You can't throw in an occasional quick pass play to keep the defense honest, what football witchcraft is this?

Ballard held that job FAR too long. Colts have been a low-key dumpster fire since Luck left. Irsay was part of the problem for sure, but Ballard should have been fired even before that Anthony Richardson pick.

People see a few bad plays on film and are ready to anoint the scheme a disaster. (This isn't a defense of our scheme, it does suck) But yeah, film guys on twitter think they know way more than they do.

Wouldn’t be an issue except it’s not just twitter people. Foles, Chris long, Avant and other players have said the same thing. At some point you can watch the all 22 without being an expert and know there’s scheme flaws. It’s not hard to diagnose when you have 4 guys go to block one guy leaving 2 free rushers. That’s not on talent that’s on mistakes and not understanding your assignments

I'm saying I give Siri a shorter leash as his one job his to make executive decisions as the CEO and oversee this glorious roster. I don't trust his instincts in that department. Which renders him useless. He can be replaced in a heartbeat by thousands of applicants out there who can apply for that role.

There's a difference between shorter leash and practically none at all, which is what's happening here. Like I've been saying, could McVay himself even survive this? Pretty sure the 49ers had a similar situation a few years ago, they won 6 games. Should Shanahan get fired for that too?

There's no actual logic, relative to the situation, for why he should be expected to succeed in this situation relative to his peers.

Okay old man.

Jokes half aside, I agree that people have become too soft, but that doesn't mean suddenly you can't be fired for anything you say. Even long before 'cancel culture', people got fired for things they said that made their company look bad. It's a result of companies caring about how people who represent them could theoretically (key word theoretically) affect customer/client response. If you represent an organization, then the things you say and do have an affect on how the organization is seen.

The people who attribute all of this to "cancel culture" either haven't had a job where their opinion matters, or are anti-responsibility. There's a middle ground between 'everyone says whatever they want without repercussions ever' and 'cancel culture'.

Of course they could fire him. I believe it would set a bad precedent though. And people are only demanding it because they're personally offended. It doesn't accomplish anything. He said something stupid. It happens to everyone. I believe the best course of action is for everyone to get over it and move on. When people speak for a living people are going to say stupid crap. It comes with the territory of these shows networks have committed to where people spout takes for a living multiple hours everyday.

This will be forgotten in two days when the perpetually outraged find the next thing to be outraged about.

I think the Jaguars planted a seed in Howie's head. That was his last transgression here. Injuries shouldn't change much. Could be 3-3 now for sure. 4-2 was even a possibility. And they had 2 dud showings with Bears and Panthers games. Think I've seen enough. And let's not forget last year's shidd show. This was his year to stand out. And he is doing that. Just fine. In a bad way. CEO coach was his last stop and he's not good at it. Regardless of injuries. I will keep him til EOY to keep this ship sinking.

The Eagles call plays via a jump to conclusions mat

I think Nick will get a pass unfortunately.

It's going to be his first year they don't make the playoffs finally but otherwise they made it every year.

That and all the injuries haven't helped. I think they give him one more with a shorter leash unfortunately.

I don't agree with it being the offensive side of the ball has been bad for years now and he was supposed to be an offensive coach.

I think seeing the state of the O yesr over year and Siri being able to clean the funk the O is in i won't be surprised if he's canned at the end of the season. We are absolutely one of the if not the worst team in the NFL right now.

An underdiscussed aspect of the protection issues is that on Sunday we had an inexperienced QB debating protections with an inexperienced center, for all Jürgens faults, he could offer opinions on protections slides informed by experience, now it's like two new guys who've never played a proper game together facing experienced DC's calling their full regular season defenses, in short it was always going to look rough.

This season was also the first year Jalen hasn't had an experienced center to offer a second opinion on protection shifts

If I were Howie, and firing Nick was on the table, I'd do the following: demote Mannion and have Nick take over play calling and run "his" offense. If Nick's going to get canned, let him have a chance to show he has answers. Trial by fire. Canning Nick while forcing Mannion and this scheme on him isn't real optimal. Hand him the keys and see what happens - the season is already a dumpster fire, so what are you risking?

They're very, very predictable for sure.

Ultimately Nick's fate will be determined by the players and the level of effort they continue to give. As long as he keeps the locker room I think Sirianni will be back next season.

I do think Howie needs to instruct Nick to take over playcalling duties, though. Much as I'm not a fan of the head coach calling plays in-game, I don't understand why Mannion chose to be up in the press box with a QB making his first "real" NFL start. Mannion should have been on the sidelines to work with McKee between drives, IMO.

You can't get a guy in after telling Nick he can't have a pick this year, tell him to stand aside and let his new OC cook, then fire him when your guys offense sucks ish. The one constant of Lurie's tenure has been that he expects staff to own their mistakes and take responsibility, I don't see Howie getting away with that.

It’s 2:22pm. How hasn’t Mannion been canned yet?

I feel like the Eagles and Chargers are waiting to see who blinks first on their OC.

Normally to get a free run like that, you'd think the defensive coordinator did something exotic... but far from it, we've seen this overload blitz multiple times a game for weeks.

[Trade] Ilya Lubushkin (double retention) to the Leafs for a 3rd ...

Nick is not a good play caller. That's why we are here right now with our millionth OC. Going back to that is the definition of INSANITY. After the last year and a half why would he stay with a totally dysfunctional offense that never brings out the talent it has. The CEO takes the 🪓 here.

Yes. And we still look unprepared for it. Tough to watch.

And no - the offense hasn't been this bad all season. It's gotten much worse:

WSH - 318 yards (136 rushing, 182 passing). 26:40 TOP. 24 points

TEN - 341 yards (89 rushing, 252 passing). 36:25 TOP. 24 points. Basically no Barkley, no Landon.

CHI - 248 yards (107 rushing, 141 passing). 23:07 TOP. 7 points. Smitty playing hurt, Dalton's glorious 1 pass for an end zone INT.

LAR - 172 yards (104 rushing, 68 passing). 28:00 TOP. 20 points. Lane retires that morning, no Smitty, basically no Saquon.

JAX - 232 yards (22 rushing, 210 passing). 24:58 TOP. 17 points. No Smitty, Saquon, Kendall, Jurgens gone.

CAR - 187 yards (35 rushing, 187 passing). 25:12 TOP. 14 points. No Saquon or Kendall.

The rushing offense the last 2 weeks...woof. We are on RB4 at this point, but the blocking and scheme just aren't there. Feels like injuries are a part of it, but now there's enough tape - just blitz EVERY under center look and we can't make you pay.

Those offenses from weeks 1 and 2...I didn't know at the time that was our apex.

NYG - lost QB

WSH - lost QB for a while, team stinks

PHI - whole team injured, now QB gone for season

Dak? Somehow 2-4 and unable to take advantage.

If Dallas can't step up and run away with this division...then it's time to blow it up.

I'll bring the C4...

How Mannion isn’t demoted by now is beyond me.
