You don't fire people for bad takes, that's cancel culture.

I'd be flat out stunned if Hurts demanded a trade or sued the Eagles over this. The most likely answer to why he played in London is because he insisted on playing. Jalen knew he had a blood clot and hadn't slept. Even if the medical staff advised him not to play, he's a football player and a competitor. He played because HE wanted to.

The issue for me is - the medical staff and coaches need to protect him from himself. They should have deactivated him and they didn't. But I don't see Jalen being livid because they gave into what he wanted.

That’s why I felt I don’t know how he feels about the organization. I can totally see him being upset with the doctors. Because he was trusting their diagnosis that he wasn’t putting his life and his future in the way when he wanted to go out there and play. To me, I wouldn’t be surprised if he sues the doctors and not the Eagles. Because the Eagles were only going based off the information they got from the doctors. Now he might ask the Eagles to go and get themselves a new medical team which I think was coming anyways after this whole thing.

I don't know how often a team has ever fired its OL coach mid-season. On top of that, actually improved the issue. But the first had to roll imo needs to be Kuper.

Did anyone notice Mailata sucking yesterday just like the rest of them?

Of course Mailata sucks, he's been taught one system his entire life and we don't play it no more.

Seems like it’s probably not smart to have 4 guys blocking one guy on this play as well

In another recent game (I forget if Jags or Rams), breakdowns showed there were 3 O linemen blocking 1 defender while another went unblocked and was immediately in Hurts face and he had nowhere to go.

People want to blame the QB but when the O line is this bad, it's hard for any QB. I do think Hurts should have done better to scramble or step aside and make a throw at times, but too often he had defenders immediately on him. I've seen other teams where that happens and the QB is taking a sack with nowhere to go, and it's celebrated as a great defensive play, they don't crap on the QB for not being able to handle it.

Kuper is clearly not coaching these guys well. There is talent there, despite the injuries and changes on the O line. The offense isn't being coached well right now at any level.

Thought I'd sprinkle in some good news in to balance out all this doom and gloom......

.... Cooper Rush is available! Get it done Howie! Season Saved!

If Hurts isn't here is that still the right move?

Is anyone at all concerned that some people feel in Indy that he's a great X's and O's guy, but can't keep the locker room together? Just me? Okay then.

I already had the same assessment as him. You can watch most of these guys win 1 on 1 battles consistently. As soon as a blitz comes, no one knows who is blocking who. Its a mess. It doesnt look like a talent issue to me on the OL at all. This looked like the deepest OL we have had in a long long time.

I think Mannion consistently has WRs open. I think the OL is talented. Where it breaks down is Kuper seems to have been unable to marry the run and pass games, and has a flawed system for blitz pickups, as it was stated earlier in here that his IOL in Minnesota was also horrible in that department.

From a coaching standpoint, Kuper seems like the biggest culprit to me on the offensive side of the ball.

Something about Mannion kind of gives me the vibes that the things he's teaching somewhere in the offense are too complex and nuanced, and has guys overthinking ball. I definitely think it might be OL, but I can't imagine a former QB known for his intelligence in ball would be watching guys blow blitz pickups this frequently and just have no answers whatsoever. I mean, even Sirianni coached QBs for a year or so. This feels like people are swimming to me.

I can't see Sirianni surviving this year if Mannions offense doesn't work out. I think the FO is hell bent on seeing if Mannion can produce some kind of proof of concept out there. I don't think it makes much sense to stick Mannion in a corner and see if Sirianni can salvage it. He can't and it gives the FO no other option but to blow the whole thing up and start over next season. There's no way Sirianni stays if they have to find yet another OC to make it work.

I think they will ride it out with Mannion and see if there's anything there and let him take his lumps. If it continues to be much of the same, they can part ways with Mannion and Siri and start over.

I mean. Howie's entire roster died, and he lost his franchise QB. The record without Lane for the team is abysmal and they have no replacement. If you account for the situation at the start of the season, pretty sure only the future HOF coaches (Reid, Shanahan, McVay) would survive this one.

Also, most importantly, the FO was in on this and seemed to want the Shanahan scheme. This is on them just as much as anyone. You wanted Wide Zone and to see how things would work without Sirianni's fingerprints on it? You got it, but you (the FO) then can't act like it's all Sirianni's fault when you were meddling in the process. The FO pretty much pulled a Sean Desai because they were focused on a scheme type.

I think the offensive line issues are less about what their talent is. Their talent is never gonna be mistaken for the 2024 Eagles offensive line. They’re never gonna be that good. But I think they have enough talent to at least be average. To me the bigger problem is they don’t know how the scheme is supposed to work or who they’re gonna block and missing assignments. I brought this all the way up back in week one and week two.

This goes back to the thing that Jeff Stoutland was really good at, was being a teacher. A good teacher not only explained to you the information, but allows you to understand it then be able to go out there and apply it.

Kuper was an issue in Minnesota. Why they let him walk away.now, some of that was talent with that Vikings roster along the offensive line. But really they had a lot of the same problems you’re seeing right now with the Eagles. Were they weren’t a cohesive unit and they had a lot of missed assignments/mistakes. To me the bigger issue right now is there so many mistakes and we’re in week six. They don’t seem to be getting corrected which tells me he doesn’t know how to communicate what he wants and have them apply it. Because there should be getting better at some point in time.

In the O-Lines defense, Derrick Brown has 13 tackles, 4 passes defended, 3 QB hits, no sacks and no tackles for loss. Gotta take that monster away.

These ignoramuses all along wanted to foolishly pin the lack of team success on one guy. I think they realize they are not so smart today. This team stinks throughout. 4-13 ahead. Maybe had a shot in a bad dlvision with Hurts. It's gone now. Hurts was on the bottom of the list of problems with this team.

  1. They don't practice live reps and what looks like it might work in practice doesn't when teams are going full speed.

  1. Teams aren’t even honoring the play fake and are sending a free rusher at the QB each time. These plays are dead on arrival. Somehow we’re the only team in the NFL that can’t figure this out.

Does Howie have it in him to truly commit to a full tank job

You know why Hurts has blood clots @EaglePhan1986 ?

I think he might actually enjoy the wheeling and dealing that comes with it.

a bad take is getting something wrong unintentionally, this pos made light of his injury and then insinuated he was faking it. That's pretty much a fireable offense in that line of work.

Every play under center is either a run or play action - so blitzing works either way. It's never a straight drop back to a slant over the middle (that has been vacated by blitzing LBs) or a screen (since we only call WR screens and not RB or TE screens in the middle). I have to think a straight drop back and quick slant to Wicks would be there every time...

by the time they get to the trade line, it might not be a question for him. They easily could lose the next three games. They could win the next three because they’re not that hard of opponents. But there is a better chance that they lose all three with how they look currently. So if they’re sitting there at 2-7 the decision has been made. They’re not gonna just trade everybody away. But guys they know aren’t long-term in their plans are likely going to be dealt or try to be dealt.

Also I noticed this:

This is an outside zone run, the o-line should be getting to the play side of the defenders lined up on them. Steen has a very difficult block and the defender uses his momentum to swim back under him. The problem is Majors is also cleanly beat on the inside. Lampkin does a good job but the coaches should have Mailata cutting off the blitzer. I am guessing he is told to look for a block to the play side. He should be getting coached to cut off the blitzing defender which may have at least opened a cut back lane. It seems like the defense is well designed to stop this type of run and the bigger question is why run that play against that defensive front?

Losing to the Cowboys is thus in the best interest of the franchise.

If the QB is even on the list, it’s a huge problem for the direction of the franchise.

I think that will be his choice here. Lotta losing coming ahead here.

This isn't on Steen. This is on Mannion and Kuper. The DE is coming right at Steen and he is engaging with him when the blitzer goes by him.
