We have youth on the OL that got a lot of experience on the season just concluded, I would roll with what we have and re-evaluate after the 2021 season while dedicating this draft to that sorry-arsed defense.

With the amount of sacks and pressure the OL was giving up, I'm a no on that one. This is indeed a league based on offense. Build them trenches on the offensive side of the ball. It's a given they're going to have to do some work on the defensive side with a new DC but gotta put up points in this league and that starts up front.

That pressure was mainly due to RG, RT and LG, LG is the only question mark.

For a first time starter I thought Mailata played well enough to be named the starter for 2021and I thought Seumalo was the C in training. It's like this, it's not like I'd be made if we pickup a stud for the OL but you can't address every position of need and the OL is in better shape than the secondary. OL play has a lot to do with coaching and not so much studs, defensive backs is mostly one on one coverage, you'd better have studs back there. We need a shutdown corner to play opposite Slay, pick Farley and the secondary looks a lot better.

Our O-line was a huge issue this year, but that had to do with so many injuries at one time, people moving from one spot to another, and having no continuity whatsoever. We also had a subpar replacements in Peters, Brown, and Pryor. Mailata did a lot of growing this season. When he finally replaced Peters at LT, he was the 11 highest graded pass protector and 7th highest graded run blocker at LT in the NFL during that stretch until the cheap shot knocked him out. Herbig also graded very well while filling in. Lane was never 100% when he did play. Kelce played the last few games with the elbow brace. Brooks is already back at practice. I don't expect Dillard to unseat Mailata at LT --- especially coming back from his injury, but I do expect him to be a valuable reserve. Driscoll played surprisingly well as a rookie and has the versatility to play OG and OT. We have a couple developmental prospects in PTW and Toth. Honestly, I have no idea why anybody would be nervous about our offensive line situation next year. Yes, players can get hurt. So can anybody we bring in. It's just part of this sport. We have a great OL coach and he earns his money every year.

So you think after our recent history with our OL that we will suddenly find the fountain of youth and evade the injury bug that's been plaguing this team for years now? Yeah you can call me nervous. I'm not sold that these guys will hold up. I'm specifically talking about Brooks and Johnson. Not sure how much longer Kelce intends to play but his time is numbered as well. I'm talking past this coming year also. Time is now to start building out this OL.

Sorry, I don't believe that once a person is injured, he will always be injured. Lane struggled with the ankle injury he suffered last year that didn't heal properly. This time, he had the surgery and should be good to go for OTAs / training camp. Brooks is already healthy. Seumalo has been back. We won't be counting on Peters being here (as a player). He's done. Dillard's rehab is probably the biggest question and he has pretty much lost his job. So he can return slowly and cautiously. As a result of all these injuries this year, a lot of young players got valuable experience. Several have responded very positively (Mailata, Herbig, Driscoll) and provide depth now and potential replacements for the older guys, should we move on from them in the future. Also, the Eagles are pretty high on Luke Juriga as the backup C. Fortunately. Kelce didn't miss very many snaps, but the downside to that is Juriga needs to get more experience.

You're not considering the age of the folks that were injured. These guys are breaking down.
January 5, 20214 yr 5 minutes ago, judunno said: You're not considering the age of the folks that were injured. These guys are breaking down. Yep, these old farts are breaking down: If you're so worried about Brooks being 31 years old and just an injury waiting to happen ... I'll never figure out why Eagles fans fall into this trap of thinking that nothing could ever possibly go our way. If a player has had an injury, it will either be a recurring problem or career ending. If a rookie doesn't receive accolades his rookie year, he's a bust. If a project isn't a starter after 2 years, we wasted our time. If a player has a bad year, he's regressing and will never rebound. If a QB doesn't win a playoff game, he never will. If he doesn't have a come from behind 4th quarter winning drive, he's not clutch. If he wears a flak jacket to protect his ribs, he's fat. If we don't fire everybody, we're doomed to repeat this fiasco. If a player fumbles 2 times, he fumbles all the time. When a player leaves this team, he will have a career year. Etc...
January 5, 20214 yr bksman thats the way injuries work in the NFL. guys start breaking down at 30 moreso than suddenly becoming pictures of great health. sure there are sometimes exceptions but that is rare especially with those who have an injury history.

I don't think that's really too hard to understand. The older we get the more aches and pains we get. The longer we take to recover from injuries as our bodies take longer to heal.

The point is, his best game was the one where nobody had any tape on him at all and every game since, he has played worse and worse as teams build a file on him and his tendencies. It's not an unusual happening. The only stat that is really better is his td/int ratio at 1.5 vs Wentz at 1.07. Otherwise their passing numbers are very similar. His ball security other than interceptions is dreadful. That isn’t even true. His best game as a passer was, by far, the Cardinals game.

Get the kid a WR, sure up the O line, and commit to the run and we’re in the playoffs in 2021. The idea of drafting another QB this year with so many other holes and a capable passer of the football already in Hurts is ridiculous These people are not trying to hear that though. They have already labeled him a bust and is saying he is worse than wentz, after four games. They have already determined that he is not the guy either. I have never seen such ridiculousness in my life. They wont even think about giving the rookie a chance at being under center.

I think in general that's true. Perhaps not with Brooks, perhaps not with Lane but I think there is a concern that perhaps with age they will start to break down more.

I see that Hurts is being held to a ridiculous standard as a rookie with barely 4 games under his belt. If hurts gets sacked he should have run and he’s a bust. If he runs to avoid getting sacked, he’s a bust; he should have stayed in the pocket because JJAW was open. If Wentz has a clean pocket and still finds a way to get sacked or throw a pick then the excuse is the guy sitting in row G’s glasses were reflecting the sun into Wentz eyes and he couldn’t see properly
January 5, 20214 yr Carson Wentz had a terrible season. No excuses whatsoever. The dude broke in every conceivable way. But Hurts will likely never be as good as Wentz can be, which is why the Eagles will recommit to Wentz this offseason and try to fix the offense with him at the helm.
