Anyone wondering if we could have traded down and still picked him...there were 3 offensive lineman taken with the next 8 picks.  Howie knew there was a run coming on linemen so they got their guy.

You can take a chance on an injury risk.  We struggled last year because of what problem along the OL?   Was it injury or was it something else?   Bad ankle - Johnson.  Both Achilles - Brooks.  Seumalo missed time.  Dillard with the pec.  Driscoll with an ACL.  How many injury risks should they put at the OL and us say, well, its just 'bad luck', when it comes back to bite them? 

 

So wait...it's impossible for Dickerson to come back and stay healthy?

so basically i look at who on the current roster is here in 2023 and say I’m going best available player on the board cause the eagles if we are truly building towards 2023 have ton of positions they need to address. So you can make the case for about any position besides WR that they should go. Just take the best player on your board. Don’t force a pick cause you need a body there next year when you likely are going to not be very good anyway.

Alot of reaches in round 2 means more quality players falling toward 70

All three were healthy if I'm not mistaken.  Howie takes the guy who's never finished a college season.

Side note.  Kyler Murray to Rondale Moore might be the smallest QB/WR tandem ever.

At the same time, we are not the team to take this risk. We're not the Rams who have figured out injuries. 

Especially with the fact that they are already bringing Johnson back from a 'collapsed ankle', Brooks from a ruptured Achilles, Dillard from a pec, and Driscoll an ACL.    That room is already full of injury risks.   Oh, and Mailata might have actual back issues, or just a convenient injury to IR him at the end of two seasons and free up a roster spot.

Hey, Lane's got a bum ankle.  Guess we should get rid of him in favor of who, a lesser talent who can stay on the field?

He  could play all 5 offensive line positions in college.  Very versatile.  Easily could transition to guard in the NFL.  

I've read several scouting reports that state he could be the best offensive lineman in the entire draft.

so Howie didn't learn anything about injury risks....  Forgot the sidney jones debacle, overlooked the last few years where our oline was a MASH unit, and is still trying to outsmart everyone w the draft.

Hard to say, teams love his attitude and he was a first round talent, I was hoping for Moore in round 4.  
 But if he didn’t go in round one because of injuries, does that mean it’s good to take him in RD2?  Only if he stays healthy, cause if he tears it a 3rd time, his career is over.

You realize that when it comes to the offensive line, Howie (likely) defers to Stoutland.  Anyone who thinks that this wasn't Stoutland banging the table is likely mistaken.  If there's anyone in this organization that should have earned the respect and trust of fans by now, it's Stoutland, imo..
