I like the Landon pick, but your argument regarding the DH is dead on.  He doesn't make it without.

I despise Howie.  His arrogance and ineptitude is so obvious, the fact that Lurie is blinded speaks to his own incompetence as our owner.  

I like Devonta Smith.  I think the value is alright at 10.  WR is an obvious area of weakness, but I don’t like the fit.  We’ve invested at WR and it looks like we’ve missed there.  If this team didn’t have so many other obvious holes, I’d likely be more optimistic.  But no, it just doesn’t feel right.  Both lines, linebacker, corner.  A trade down when we were at 12 would’ve made more sense.  With that being said, Smith I think can very well be a pro-bower and seems like a great worker and high character guy.  He’s also ultra talented so I can live with it.  We had the opportunity to make that pick look a lot better with our decision at 38.

Now I don’t mind the position we looked at but for a team that is notoriously unhealthy, bringing in a guy that clearly has a concerning injury history again makes absolutely no sense.  Howie is incapable of learning from his past mistakes because of his conviction that he’s smarter than everyone else.  In reality he’s just a goon and though I hope it’s not the case,  his decisions will continue to push this team deeper into mediocrity.

Nah, it's simple, imo...

- They took a risk on Jones (early 1st round talent at the time) in the 2nd round.  Did not work out.

-. The decision to pass on Metcalf likely was influenced by what happened with Jones.

(Both of these are skill positions, which usually translates to "higher risk" especially when the player is trying to transition to the NFL.  Both CB and WR are harder (have a longer learning curve)  to transition to the NFL than most "top tier" O-Line prospects have)  So in most cases (DK Metcalf is a one-in-a-million exception) you'll have much better odds for a lineman to have success vs a CB/WR)

- After the DK Metcalf scenario, the Eagles likely re-evaluated how they would grade players in certain positions, despite injury risk.  Naturally, they felt that draftining a "plug and play" caliber lineman with a pro-bowl level upside at the NFL level (in the 2nd round) is less risky that drafting a skill position with the same type of (potential) issues.
