I get it but every case is different. It reminds me of people who can't change their mind even when new information is presented. It's like a badge of honor to stick with the same thought even though you have new information that would change that thought.

 

I never understood why changing your mind on something is looked at is being weak. To me that's being smart.  You have some new situation with new medical evidence so this case is totally different.  The  Front Office obviously heard the backlash about Metcalf and said never again.

Probably less important for linemen because they can compensate with technique and strength, if you're a WR or CB, losing a step can be fatal.

But it comes down to the type of injury.

Dickerson's ankle issues seem to have subsided, he did play 24 straight games for the Tide, before tearing the other ACL.

He's not the first player to come out of college tearing both ACLs, it's not the issue it was a couple decades ago with advances in surgery.

But the probability of a re-occurence over his NFL career is higher.

It can’t be, he won’t have a career after a 3rd tear, and even after your first acl surgery, your knee will never be as stable as it was with what you were born with. Plus the cartilage damage that occurred with both injuries, he’ll have arthritis by the time he’s 26 if he’s lucky. 
 None of it matters though because no one knows how good he’s going to be after this 2nd surgery, no one.  He may be fine, or he may be 1/2 of what he was.
