Chiefs select Creed Humphrey, OL

 

The Eagles have drafted one defensive player in the top 100 in the past 4 drafts (Davion Taylor). It's been all offense. We need defense at pick 70

Andy keeps rebuilding that offensive line.

Exactly, I actually really like the guy. Awesome personality, great player, dominant, mean streak, great size. But he's at a position that he's not going to play for a year and has a SERIOUS injury history and we are a last place dumpster crap fire. This move doesn't propel us anywhere. Meanwhile we are becoming more and more distant in the rear view mirror. Pretty soon we won't even be in it anymore. And there goes a healthy center to the Chiefs, a real GM  and visionary making a smart pick.

Chiefs trade for OT now get Humphery. Andy doing a nice job.

There was no question that DK was going to play his rookie year.  The question is does the injury come up again.  Then you look at how the guy takes care of himself.  A workout warrior, doing everything possible to build his body to help prevent further injuries.

Not every injury is an IF.  

For the record, I would have taken Caleb Farley in the 3rd this year.

I’m a pro DK guy. Would have taken him in the first and said so before he was drafted.

That said, neck and back injuries have WAY more risk associated with them than ACLs. He was WAY more of an "if” than Dickerson.

I’m just of the opinion that outside of the top 10-15 picks, you’re always dealing with ifs. It’s just a matter of what the ifs are. I’ll take the risk of upside with the downside.

The 2nd round run on OL told us a lot.  Teams all had high grades on a bunch of these guys.  Clearly viewed as a strong position in this draft even though only one guy in the top ten.  Eagles again had that read right.

I wanted a CB or the ND LB more but this kid has the upside to be better than all of those options.

Yes.  I want to love the pick.   I want to see him on the field, every. single. game.  We'll see.

Two Cs going pushes players down to us.

Id doesnt matter if he cant finish a college season. We just need him to finish an NFL season now.

You don’t have access to the medicals, so your conviction is meaningless.

But yes I would consider passing up on elite talent at a premiere position of need because of medical concerns is a conservative move. Doesn't mean it's wrong. But it's a strategy that can ruin drafts just as easily.

If you've got no QB, you've got no future anyway, so you are already crippled.

Paul Molitor was injury prone.  Then he wasn't and is in Cooperstown now.
