It’s only been 48 hours but watching DeVonta Smith highlights is what I do now when I want to improve my day. 😀

My goodness. I see something new every time mostly because his highlights are so fricking long you can’t even take them in during one sitting. 

He’s just a complete receiving savant. I think my new favorite detail to notice is how he almost seems to invite DBs to ride his hips because he knows he can burst away from them whenever he wants and just wants to delay that separation to best time with the QB’s drop. He just constantly "pops” open with 5 yards of separation in a clear throwing lane. Literally a QB’s best friend. 

And like all the best athletes in any sport it looks like the sport he’s playing out there is so much easier for him than the other guys playing it. So smooth and easy. 
 

I think the rest of the draft was above average but this will always be the Smith draft. He’s going to be the best WO this franchise has ever had. 

Interesting draft:

1) one CB, no safeties, but they signed Harris and Adams, brought back Wallace and Epps and McLeod on PUP. CB however, i assume Gannon went over game film of last year's CBs with a fine toothed comb, so either he liked what he saw or they didn't like the CBs in this draft

2) DL, basically replaced Malik and Curry with Tuipulotu and Williams, I'm not sold on Jackson - try hard but not a great athlete.

3) Johnson, Avery and Bachie are similar athletes, Avery the best, all three put up sub-7 cone drills and good leg explosion, seems like they're either looking for a joker or more likely, want a physical, athletic SAM who can blitz.

4) Building up young depth on the OL. Mailata and Dillard two years ago, Driscoll and Herbig last year, Dickerson this year. Look for one next year

5) Smith automatically upgrades WR because everyone else gets pushed down a spot

6) TE? Are they going to trade Ertz? Do they like their H-back candidates?

7) RB? Gonna catch a lot more balls this season

Loved it, stuck to BPA with an eye on the future. It's what we needed, no need to try to salvage a lost upcoming season by forcing picks for need.

Drafted 5 lineman as well, build through the trenches as it should be.

DeVonta is my favourite Eagles draft pick in ages, cannot wait to see him play.

Florida WR Trevon Grimes is headed to the Philadelphia Eagles

They’ll probably cut 2-3 of these picks out of camp.

I like Smith for Hurts or whoever our future QB is. They gambled on the center and I hope he stays healthy. Seemed like a couple are going to be out of their natural position on defense though

I still want Howie fired regardless of this draft and what they end up becoming in the future

I like all 3 picks on offense — DeVonta Smith will hopefully be a 1,000-yard receiver as routine.  Landon Dickerson will be a great addition to the IOL and could be the Eagles C for the next decade.  Kenny Gainwell is a very good dual-threat RB with great hands.

Much more lukewarm on the defensive picks.  Williams looks good against the run but not so great in pass rush, the CB and S picks were not my choices for sure, and the late-round DL guys are just spins of the wheel.

In its totality I give it a B or B-

The player I’m most interested in is McPhearson. If he can become a serviceable starter for 2-3 seasons then this draft I think goes down as a good one. Smith and Dickerson have pro bowl potential

Step in the right direction. The second rounder is probably going to be what makes or breaks it. He will be either everyone saying I told you so or a stud, no real in between. Nothing flashy outside of the first but for the first draft in a rebuild it’s expected.
