I hope people realize the point I was making was just looking at the rosters as of May 12, this is a bad matchup for the Eagles.  We have no idea how this team will look come week 1.

I honestly don't know what to expect from the defense.  Schwartz was so stuck in his ways and refused to make any changes that we had to just deal with the same things every week.  The mistakes that were made were always the same.  Maybe just a simple scheme change can help the players currently on the roster.

I really think Gannon is bringing some sort of 3-4 hybrid defense to the table with the players who were drafted and position changes that have been made.  Granted, they've been bottom of the roster guys in Avery and Ostman as well as late round picks but it just has me scratching my head as to what Gannon has up his sleeve for this defense.

The discouraging thing for me is that all through the draft there were players in the back 7 who could have improved this team and they were passed for other positions.  Even when they address LB it's by drafting guys who played other positions and moving them to LB.  That doesn't instill a lot of confidence in me.  It's going to be interesting to see how Gannon puts these pieces together.

Well probably there's not a good match up for this team.  I think the only good thing is that it will be Pitts' first game too.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I get sick of the Eagles opening up against Atlanta! The NFL really missed a good opportunity to make the Eagles/Giants happen week 1. Sick of the Giants fans crying

Idk what to fee about this lol

Yeah....did you know that we have opened up against Atlanta a few times the last decade or so?  Them and Washington.  It's a thing.

Ya basically lol. They need to switch it up!

Cute.  Corn flakes suck.  Sorry the truth hurts.  I would love for us to focus on the run.  Just don't see it.

Single game tickets for the Eagles game in Charlotte go on sale on May 12th.  I am just trying to trick myself into buying tickets with some unfounded optimism.

Eagles @ Falcons to open the season is interesting because both coaching staffs know each other very well (Colts/Titans).

I love how worked up I can get you on the MB, especially in a certain thread in CVON that you came swinging your purse in.  And now call me "insecure"?  Ironic.

Lol, classic. Get attacked, but shoot back and you'll be told "you're crying." It's like middle school in here.

I'm cool, I just like calling out inconsistency. You like being right. That's fine. I've been known to have a similar attitude, just not so aggressively.

As I've said before, I got no beef with you and generally enjoy our discussions. I just jumped in the blog to give my thoughts on the schedule and that we seem to always play Atlanta these days. Isn't that what this place is for? No need to be a jerk.

Have a nice day.

I don't remember the last time we played the Giants week 1.

1997 I think.

How many posts about how we should have drafted Pitts in the week one IGT? I'm guessing at least 30.

Why did you only go back 9 years? Guess the sretch of, Texans, Panthers, Packers(twice), Giants, Titans, Rams(twice), Tampa, didnt  fit your narrative.

O NOOOOSEEEEEE we always play the Rams and Packers opening week

Lol, is this serious? Maybe because 9 years is a pretty long time? It was mixed up pretty well before that, but it's been a lot of the same for about a decade now. I guess you're one of those guys who likes to argue just for the sake of arguing.

Do you take back a soon to be 29 MLB?  Would you offer Ertz?  Is Hicks better than a 5th round pick?

Jordan Hicks on the market. Too bad we don't have any cap, he'd be a decent option to bring back.

Early 2000s, I just looked. 2005 iirc

2005 we opened in Atlanta. That was the game Trotter got ejected pregame.

It was 2004. TO’s first game with us.

Would 100% bring Hicks back. Likely not the same guy he was when he broke out here, but exactly the type of LB this defense needs. Nickel with Hicks and Wilson would provide really solid pass coverage.

04 then. I went with my pops and T.O. had a monster game.

I just went back and added that. I was there too.

I was ball busting actually.

I thought that might be the case. This place is wild. I'm admittedly out of my element, lol.

Don't forget to tell him the other 22% make outlandish bets and then offer up combat waivers when they lose arguments.

I would not bring Hicks back - we are rebuilding. Stay focused.

I would take him in a heartbeat.   They'd have to take Ertz, but if they did that I would throw in a pick.  6th?

On salary, It think it works out.  Spotrac lists his 2021 base salary as $6m:

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/arizona-cardinals/jordan-hicks-16808/

I am not terribly sure how salary transfers when trading, but I think the Cards would be responsible for his remaining $3m of signing bonus, which would bring him here for $6m.  If we traded Ertz for Hicks, we'd make that up in cap savings alone (Ertz saves us $8.5m).

I don't think this affects the re-build.  We did not stock up a LB, there is no real youth movement there.  He would be a stop-gap starter & he's only under contract for 2 more years.
