How a coach speaks in a press conference tells you nothing in regards to how good of a coach he will be.  See Bill Belichek.

He is obviously nervous and wants to make a good impression.

Doug was an absolute car wreck as a public speaker. His first interview and him trying to explain that playoff game was putrid. 

Had to turn off the press conference.  Sirianni maybe the worst in a presser we’ve ever heard.  I hope his meetings aren’t as brutal as his pressers.

He did not want to commit either way that there would be a QB competition. Very Weird because he talked about constant competition

Then like @EazyEaglez stated, he didnt commit to Wentz. Which was predictable but very weird to read where he is at lol

 

Overall, as a Duce supporter, I will say it was hard not to like Nick as a person. He comes off as very likable. Not the best speaker when it comes to media press conferences but I like what I heard for the most part.

The fact he couldn’t even commit to Wentz being on the team and he said Howie has control of the 53 makes it clear he has no control over the roster other than who plays on game day. That’s probably until Howie forces him to play Jason Peters again.

GM's usually have the final say on the roster, with input from the coaching staff.

What would the price be to take a 34 million dollar dead cap hit ??  No matter what a team gives you in compensation, you can not get out of the cap hit.

So coaches can’t cut players? Also I heard the Eagles actually save a mil on the cap if they trade him. If they’re getting a 1st for Wentz he’s gone.

quite evident he was a little nervous but seemed genuine, well prepared, and should become more comfortable as time wears on.

They save $ 852,928 by trading him.  Dead cap hit of $ 33,820, 608.  I will say it again, the Eagles are not going to take the biggest dead cap hit in NFL history.  Previous high was 21.8 million.  EAGLES ARE NOT GOING TO DO THAT.

Catching up here, haven't watched the PC yet. First I watched this one on one with Spadaro.  Key takeaways:

• He wants his team to be smart and make good decisions
• Hold everyone accountable, including coaches and players holding him accountable
• Wants every coach to be good teachers
• Focus on fundamentals
• He will call the plays
• QB position did come up in interview, but they discussed all positions

Defensive vision:

• High energy DC Gannon, high "juice level"
• Good fundamentals

His role in the roster:

• All hands on deck
• Utilize analytics (oh yay)
• Collaboration

Then you just say he’s back. There is no such thing as an untouchable player on this squad.

Football coaches should be good at coaching.  Public speaking is nice, but people hated Reid's PCs and he would be high energy and yelling and motivating the players and was very different in the locker room speech footage.

Doug was criticized for his PC and people said because he said "Gosh" in his press conference.  And the players loved him and he won a Super Bowl.

If he wins games who cares how he sounds to the media?

Having said that and starting to watch the PC, yeah it's pretty rough.  He's nervous.  He did better in his one on one with Dave.

You have to give him a shot.  But man, the first interview with the media was horrible.   I understand it's a tough position.

You just hope he's more confident in front of 20-30 year old men.  The players will need to respect him.

 

He tried saying too much, he was super nervous and stuttering.  He seemed insecure and trying hard to convince people he knows what he's doing.  

Let's hope he coaches and speaks to the team much, much better than this.  

Can we please give this guy a chance to coach at least one game before we destroy him based on his first PC?? Jesus. And I'm not a very positive guy either but damn...

Why ??  Because you want him to.  Reminds me of 2018 when TATE'rs felt disrespected that Doug would not say if Carson or Nick was going to be the week 1 starter.  The team owes you nothing in regards to info, and will make that statement at the appropriate time.
