I think something on the order of $1m is the going rate for checking the good PR box on this front.

Brees donated $5m and he doesn't have that kind of money.

Is Lurie that rich?  IIRC, he went into major debt to buy the Eagles.  I think most of his wealth is tied up in the team.  He did come from wealth as his family started General Cinemas.  He was something like a film and documentary producer.  Not sure if he inherited any wealth.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Wasn’t trying to argue. Just stating how I feel about the situation because I can. There’s plenty of people doing far greater things.

Everyone who does anything should be applauded.  You poo-poo'd it.  It's a bad look.

That will likely be the 'value' pick at that spot.  They have to evaluate it.

I like Queen more than Murray.

Between the teens and the mid-twenties there is a talent gap for WRs and value. LB is where talent, need and value all come together in this draft at 21.

I think he’s doing OK...

I agree. Would prefer them over Justin Jefferson tbh

Thinking about any type of Alshon trade... not sure how it would work without him getting a physical...

That said... I have my fingers crossed.

It wouldn't unless its a pure dump and the team trading for him doesn't plan on using him.

Doesn't the league have to approve all trades to prevent little schemes like dumping?

Why would the league stop that?

So like a Alshon and a 6th for a 7th trade? Would that really work in freeing up cap space? I don’t think.

I just don’t see how Alshon gets traded without doctors being able to examine him. With his injury I believe he was about 50/50 to be ready by week 1. Those two situations plus a very real possibility of there being a shortened season makes an Alshon trade unlikely imo.

Yes, it frees up $10M on the 2021 cap.

They have allowed salary dumps every year. I don't see why they would reject anything.

So does that differ from just straight up cutting him?

Weren't you suggesting Alshon and a 6th for a 7th? Wouldn't the league want to take a close look and perhaps discourage similar trades? I would question the integrity.

I’d be shocked.

Funny I recently moved and it’s the first time I’ve had one in probably 10 years.

I wonder what the Vegas oddsmakers would make it. I’m betting the farm he doesn’t. If howie accomplishes that and gets anything for him I’d be in a state of utter shock. His injury and team doctors not getting to do a physical or look at him first hand makes me skeptical any team does it until this stay at home is over and team facilities open up. Even then i still don’t think anyone takes him.

I forget who posted it on the blog on the old EMB, but they said they talked to his dad and alshon not only has that foot issue he had another injury to his other leg and he’s unlikely to even play next year unless it’s late in the season. I think he’s starting the year on Pup

If Alshon were to fail a physical after a trade, the Eagles and the team who traded for him would have had to agree on a "plan B" compensation. Any trade with a player and draft pick that was used has to have that "plan B" in case a player fails that physical. It's not like other trades where they just get reversed because the draft pick was already used. So, an Alshon trade during the draft seems pretty unrealistic to me.

He comes from massive family wealth.  But purchasing the Eagles turned massive into more massive.  That was a fantastic investment.

Yes, I was.  The league didn't stop the Brock Osweiler trade.

Again.. why would they stop it?  Is it against the rules?  Does Alshon have a no trade clause?  Will he get a different contract structure with the new team?  Will the Eagles be skirting around the salary cap?

Not against the rules.  No, no trade clause.  Same structure, new team picks up is guaranteed salary, neither team is on the hook for salary going forward.  Eagles get the same salary cap hit as if they cut him, except that they've traded his salary to another team... same as the Texans and Browns did a few years ago.   The NFL would have a very hard time stopping it.  There's nothing against it in the CBA.  The NFLPA can't argue against it, because the player gets the same money he'd have gotten here.  And the total salary cap charges remain the same, just spread over two teams.

It's great that Lurie has donated $1 million.  More than I can do.  I question this however and I'm in no way trying to take away from what healthcare workers are doing right now but I'm seeing more and more places offer free meals, even free gas to healthcare workers.  Everyone appreciates and is thankful for the hard work they are putting in but they are also still getting paid and have jobs

• The $225,000 worth of gift cards from various local businesses will go to employees at Jefferson and CHOP. It helps regional businesses and healthcare workers.

At a time when 22 million Americans are out of work, lots of them having to go to local food banks why don't establishments look to give free food or give things to our neighbors who no longer have a paycheck?

Don’t worry, your $2 is basically the same thing.

Lurie should've donated that million to the new EMB instead 🤭
