Rasul Douglas for Royce Freeman was a popular trade idea in February. I would do this as Freeman has 2 years left on his deal. He'd give us cap hits of $830K and $970K.
Freeman is also a good prospect/ok player from an analytics perspective.

i would do that, each team gets rid of a redundant player who can serve as a more than serviceable backup

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

yep. And they do it in club levels, as well as courtside seats at NBA games. If soemone orders from an app (eagles already have a mobile app, and would just need to design/add this ordering system in the app) and inputs their seat number, it would be very easy to have a few concession workers delivering food. Im thinking of the upper levels of the stadium where I always sit... theres about 27? say 30 rows.

You take the register people away from the concession stand, and even a few of those who prepare the food (because remember the stadium is only 25% full so you dont need as many cooking) you can easily give those extra foot workers a few rows in each section to take care of. If you have 5 extra, give them 6 rows each. That seems very manageable to deliver to.

It's been a few years since I was in the club box section (My buddy's company has season tickets there and we would go whenever I went up to visit).  But from what I remember, there was some sort of electronic ordering device (either that or an app) that we would use to order drinks and food.  I might be wrong on this.  It could have been just a paper form we filled out...or at one time it was a paper form and they eventually went to electronic ordering.  I'll have to call him and ask....or if anyone around here knows how they do it now, please enlighten us.  ;)

I think the best thing is just roll with your young guys.  See what they bring to the table.  If during the season they need help they can find a vet on the streets.

I have no problem going with the youth but I think you should bring in someone now to push them. Outside of Sanders it’s all undrafted guys. They shouldn’t just win a roster spot because there’s no one else.

I disagree.  Looking at the group of FA running backs left they all seem to think they have more in the thank than what they really have so the might feel more entitled to a spot.  I would much rather see hungry UDFA, a healthy Corey Clement trying to prove he still has it and Boston Scott trying to show he wasn't a flash in the pan all fighting for 3 spots.  I think that will be an exciting battle.

If none of them shine then you're going to have your choice of the vets left, veterans who will be released or other rookies who teams don't have room for.

Jamal Adams is an absolute stud.  Put him in the secondary with Slay?   Now we have something special in the defensive backfield for the first time in a while.

the Eagles have ways to get creative and get out of cap hell next season.

You can do everything you just said with a vet on the roster too. And by "bring in a vet” I don’t mean go all out to get Freeman. I strictly mean bring in a guy for minimum or close to it who can easily be cut at the end of TC. Like Matt Jones last year.

Very true.  It will be interesting to see who is released after camp and such.  June 1 is sneaking up on us.  Can we expect any surprises with that?

Stoutland does a great job of explaining why you have to pass at times out of the same formation to set up the run.

Otherwise, as soon as you have success with a formation, the defense will key on that.

You can see his attention to detail, and that he sees the game far beyond his immediate coaching responsibility.

Yes indeed. A called run, a called pass, and an RPO all from the same formation and action. Even with drek at WR, we can see why the offense was competent albeit not explosive. I confess the comments about body angle and surface were new to me though they immediately made perfect sense. I thought Howard Mudd was as good as it gets but Stoutland is better.

Shady would at best be the #3 back and really adds nothing to the table this team doesn’t already have. Makes little sense to add him.

If the Eagles add another back it needs to be a north/south bruiser.

You just love hyperbole. Boston Scott is a 5'6 200 pound 3rd down back with 61 career carries. Shady might be declining but he still averaged 4.6 YPC on 101 rushes last year. Corey Clement hasn't been healthy in two years. Holyfield and Warren are long shots to make the team.

''At best number 3 back,'' lol. He walks in as the clear number 2 RB if they sign him and it isn't even close.

If he’s so damn special why wasn’t he active in the postseason for the Chiefs??

The Eagles could use another back but Shady does nothing to improve this offense.

I'm starting to think top OL coaches are the biggest bargain, because they allow you to build top OLs without going overboard with resources.

Not that the Eagles haven't invested, Peters (top FA money), Brooks (top FA money), Johnson #4, Dillard 1st rd, but also Mathis, Kelce 6th rd, Seumalo 3rd rd, and Vaitai, Pryor, etc. as low cost backups who've stepped in and done credible work when needed.

Eagles have had top OLs for most of the last decade and it looks like this will continue this decade.

And that is the key to offensive excellence year after year, skill players get too expensive to keep or get hurt, but as long as you have an OL, next man up.

Yeah I was going to say bud... They've all gotten good contracts and they've certainly invested at the position.

But yeah I mean they've drafted some young guys and I absolutely trust Stoutland to develop those guys to be long term options either as starters or back ups on this team.

I’m not sure about that.  I’m a huge McCoy fan but his running style requires burst and agility...and speed.   If he has it left in the tank, it would be nice to bring him in to compete but that’s a big "if”.   And you’re discounting Warren too much, imo.  Seems like that kid is a player.

And don’t forget about Killins....the kid is a home run hitter and could be the fastest player on the team and that’s saying a TON based on who we drafted this year.  Killins could get a spot for his home run threat on kickoffs alone.

Even if they don’t sign a veteran RB, this could be the most competitive camp for RB’s in a long time.

I wouldn’t use him not being active for the Chiefs as a barometer.   He could have had some sort of nagging injury, etc.  He seemed to play well there when given the opportunity.

And I can just about guarantee if the Eagles sign McCoy it would be because Reid gave a thumbs up to Pederson, Howie and Lurie.  And Reid wouldn’t steer those guys wrong, like ever.

I think he could be the fastest player in the league.  Whether he can add some muscle and play in the NFL is a different story.

Agreed.  Watching him on film, he’s one of those guys that just stands out as being faster than anyone else on the field.  Reminds me of watching DJax his first couple of seasons in the league.

DJax was considered light as well but he managed to stay healthy for the most part earlier on in his career.  Granted he was a WR, not a RB but I wouldn’t see the Eagles using Killins as a RB other than maybe a couple of change-of-pace carries per game.

I see them using him as a KR, maybe even as a PR if he can show he has good hands.   Eventually could use him on end arounds, sweeps, maybe out of the slot or out wide in certain formations, etc

I'd say about 90%...but with an asterisk. There are some season tickets which are held by entities which do not go to games but simply resell the tickets. The people in front of us are there for every game (we get along great, which enhances the enjoyment because it's fun to share in the excitement with people you've come to know), but the seats to the left of us are different every single game. I'll occasionally ask the people sitting there where they got them, and they always name some ticket site.

That’s what I’m curious about when they keep talking about 25-30% stadium capacity for games. How is that going to work when you’ve already paid for all 10 home games? I know they stopped payment for a while from the season ticket holders but they took out payment this week, I’d assume because they’re confident they’re having games with fans in the stands. But just the other day Wolf said he wouldn’t allow fan attendance at sporting events with out a working vaccine widely available.

I’m apolitical and used to not have a problem with Wolf, but if he’s the only governor that holds up pro sports, that will be the hill I’m willing to die on.

I think it’s more that top OL coaches will maximize talent, unless you’re the old NE OL coach who turned water into wine quite often.

Is a RB signing at this point truly improving the offense or more about not experiencing severe production drop if there is an injury?  Who is the right back for that?  Hyde would have been nice, but Eagles aren't spending that.  So the real question is who in the 1.5 million range is available that would accomplish the above?  Could Shady do that for half a season if needed?  That is the real question.

We have no money to make a major trade requiring a big payout.

If we did, I have no doubt either Clowney or Yannick would already be here.

The season tickets were the one hang up I could think of in the pan I came up with.  You basically have no choice other than telling some of them they can't come.

It's either tell all of them their tickets are no good for this year.  Or tell half of them they get 4 home games and the other half gets the other 4 games.  With either plan pretty much all of them will be on different seats than they are used to as well.

You can't get down to 25% capacity while honoring all of the season tickets this season.

Of course a lot of them will be extremely upset.  But you gotta hope people are intelligent enough to understand why this is necessary and not hold it against the company.

I'd be interested to see where Brady's avg release time is because if you're avg is in the top 5 you can have a lesser OL, IMO.

We have money, but Howie is hoarding it for next season, which is the right move.

This season is going to be so chaotic that you don't want to invest too much into it, whereas he'll want the flexibility to replace veterans or retain the ones who still have something left in the tank next year.
