Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Do you not remember the rules of the old blog or just not care?

I do remember and honestly it's better than not talking about anything right now. But if the majority wants to talk about it so be it. If I don't I won't. And the majority doesn't want to talk about it so be it as well

Calm down. It’s going to be ok. Just relax and read

Don't tell me to calm down after you call me "sally".

Disneyland delayed their reopening. Football may not happen 😞

All bull. Democrat leaders can attend protests with thousands, or allow protests with thousands in areas they control, but we have to shut states down again. It is all political. All geared towards November.

Bottom line is quarantine didn't work. We tried for months. No point in going back to it again. Open up Disney and everything else.

I'm not referring to the payments the season ticket holders have put out for THIS season. I'm talking about the multi-thousand dollar seat license fee they paid back in 2003 which insured them the right to purchase tickets to all Eagles games every year. I fully understand that they really wouldn't have a complaint if no one is allowed into the stadium this year. But I think they would have a serious complaint if THEIR tickets are invalidated while others are allowed in. Those are the key words -- "while others are allowed in".

I personally think that front row seats are horrible, so I would have never even wanted them. But I believe they were the highest priced licenses (maybe club seats were more), so some people obviously paid serious money for those. I don't see how the Eagles can tell them they can't come and then open the gate to the thousands of fans in the upper deck who never even had to pay for a license.

Gotcha.

Quarantine is working in other countries. We just didn’t shut down correctly the first time, then opened up too quickly.

It has nothing to do with November...

The US as a whole was not quarantined for months. Here are the results:

I’m not pushing a political agenda here,  but that’s not really accurate.

Masks work well, but people would rather fight for their right to be selfish jerks and to shout down "virtue signaling.”

My understanding is that social distancing helps, but not nearly as much as masking and limiting large gatherings. Would that be accurate?

The entire point of seat licensing is "control". You own the seat. If a team decided to go against that, they're going to get sued.

Keep in mind that those who can afford seat licensing for thousands of dollars can afford lawyers to go to bat for them.

Teams should simply not allow fans for this season and gave seat licensees a % of revenue from the tarping.

At worst, outright lies and misdirection form the graphs.  At best, there are differences in testing frequency, testing modalities, international exposures, population behavior impact results that should not just be blamed on "screwing up the quarantine” or "opening too early.”

Im not arguing that we have done a good job...not at all.  But the comparisons are baseless.

Nonsense. All these extra factors that you cite can be accounted for in epidemiological projections.

interesting, so it would seem that outside runs do work in the NFL

When you are on one of those teams that is doing that let me know.

We’re in our own category with Brazil at the moment, many other Countries have gotten this controlled at least somewhat. How many other countries are adding 10K+ cases a week?

Do you think it’s okay right now to have a venue of 100K people?

I have not worked on a COVID team. That is true. My students and I have published peer reviewed papers on disease transmission and on the evolution of virulence.

I'm torn on the whole corona thing. I agree with wearing of masks, but I also think the thing has been politicized and is being used as a weapon.

I think they always have, to an extent, because of the "home run" threat.  I don't have the stats on this, but I'd guess there's more of a chance of breaking off a huge run on the outside vs inside.  At the same time, there's a bigger chance of a "no-gain/short-gain" run, etc on the outside.

How many other countries on the planet even have the same order of magnitude population as ours?  Of those, how many are either completely fabricating numbers or have no ability to test half their population?

Uh...is our president not requesting that we test less often? You don’t think they’re fabricating our numbers?

There is no separating politics and our national response to the pandemic. It starts at the very top, and it continues to be poorly handled. Competence and empathy would go a long way.

Out of your mind it doesn't have anything to do with November. Democrats...you will kill us all if you open up a gym. Democrats a few weeks later are marching in the middle of thousands of protesters and letting them run wild for weeks. When that dies down it's back to we have to quarantine. There is no defending that.
