Cause people were really going to travel? It wouldn't make a difference when they opened. This started in February with less than 100 people and spread to this. We could stay inside until November and as soon as we did it would blow up again cause I guarantee at least 100 people in the US would have it. Common sense. This thing spreads like bushfires.

Actually, yes, people were beginning to travel again.  Occupancy rates increased in June and were headed in that direction until the spike.

Universal Studios and Sea World reopened and they were beginning to see increases in traffic as well.  The NBA finishing their season here would have been an additional boost.

Now, everything looks to be delayed and we will most likely lose most, if not all, of the summer tourism season.  This, just after we lost our entire Spring Break/Easter tourism seasons.

Wow....What in the F is this??  I'm actually surprised.  Cowherd is usually all over Wentz's jock, including his arm strength.  I literally just heard him last week say that Mahommes and Wentz have the 2 best arms in football.

He's injured too much. Then there's the drama

I'm starting to think Rodgers shouldn't be so high - Agreed.  He showed signs of decline last year.  The only bias Simms really shows is towards Rodgers.  He's had him #1 since 2010.

Foles won a SB and is 31st... - Foles is right where he should be going into next season.

Cam can't stay healthy - I didn't really understand this one either.  Hasn't played in almost 2 years and can't really even throw a football anymore.  Awful mechanics.

What the covid response has shown is that parasitic health insurance industry is unnecessary and outdated.

Time to join the rest of the civilized world and rid ourselves of corporate greedy health care and guarantee health care for all through medicare for all!

That is a bit naive. First off, the ACA (Obamacare) requires that health insurers have a medical loss ratio of at least 80%. That means at least 80% of the premium they take in must be paid for medical care.  If the group is larger than 50 people the medical loss ratio goes up to 85%.  Now that 20% or 15% is not profit.  The cost of administering plans, negotiating with medical providers etc. must come from that 15-20%.

Second, let’s look at Medicare. First, you have to know the plans. Two are automatic at 65, Plan A and B. Basically facility care (hospitals, hospice, homecare, surgery) and doctors, PT, medical devices).  Plan A and B don’t include dental, vision, nursing homes, or drugs.   Now a little over one third of the Medicare recipients opt for Plan C, Medicare Advantage, where Medicare pays towards the premium for healthcare insurance from private insurers.  They do that to add a degree of Medigap coverage based on needs for things like dental, vision etc.  Usually they will couple this with their Medicare Plan D coverage.  Medical Plan D is optional coverage that covers drug benefits and is shopped based on need. It has a premium.  Medicare Advantage has a premium too.

CMS (If you don’t know this acronym, you don’t know Medicare), employs 6,200 people.  Most of its processing is outsourced. The fallacy that CMS and its contractors are more efficient than private insurers is a myth.  But hand in hand with Medicare (and Medicaid) is price schedules.  Now the law has some provisions for price limitations that keep moving forward because of the strength of medical provider lobbies. To keep Medicare solvent, we will need to raise taxes and premiums and tighten price schedules. How do you think that will go over with doctors (you can only make so much may work when limiting health insurers but doctors?), hospital corporations (who are already closing hospitals in rural areas where it isn’t very profitable, price schedules will make it more so), drug companies etc.  The UnitedHealthcares, Aetnas and Cignas will just reinvent themselves as those government contractors.

Then there is the ugly truth that government sucks at insurance.  They put off limits on doctors due to lobbying. FEMA and the national flood insurance program runs at a huge deficit because it takes three floods before a property is ineligible at which point the government usually pays to buy the people out.  Do you really think taxes will keep pace with the cost of the program?

Then there are the people that work in insurance.  What is the retraining program for them?

Ronald Reagan. Speculation is that we had our first woman president in 87 and 88 - Nancy.

Go back further in history.  Woodrow Wilson had a stroke in office and his wife would go in to him with the bills to be signed.

I would like to the take the opportunity to thank the guys who go out of their way to sprinkle in some occasional football conversation into the political dialogue. Don't think it's not appreciated.

Fun fact: Woodrow Wilson's wife Edith essentially was acting president at the end of Woodrow's career when he had a massive stroke.

Surprised they aren't pounding for the Eagles to do everything possible to get him then.  The Philly media was all over Malcolm's nuts and acted like him leaving was a big of a mistake as BDawk.

Simms' list looks like ESP made it. Colin's list is much worse, you're definitely right about that.

He's gotta be counting accuracy in his definition of "arm talent." I'd say Wilson, Rodgers, and Murray are top 3. After that, if you are looking for a guy who has a cannon arm who can consistently throw accurately at every level of the field, it's tough. I'd put Mahomes, Stafford, Carr, and Wentz in the same bucket in terms of having great arm strength but lacking the elite all-level accuracy. Goff, Brees, and Brady don't have elite arm strength. Gun to my head, I'd go Mahomes at 4 and Stafford at 5.

It could be maintained a whole heck of a lot better if people listened. How many stories do we have to hear about people knowingly being infected and still going out to do things?

People are selfish and dumb. Like that every flu season. I'm in line to get food and someone is coughing their head off and not covering their mouth.

That's a good way of looking at it.

If it helps, I know these rankings are where he ranks these QBs as of this moment going into next season.  I guess that doesn't really help with Cam, especially because there's a decent chance he won't even play.  However, that's why he has Brees and Brady so far down.  They showed a ton of decline in their play last year.

FYI - If Wentz didn't have the injuries, I'd take him over Watson 100 times out of 100.

It’s not as if watson hasn’t had injuries tbh. He tore an acl i believe in college and then his rookie year as well. I’d take wentz over watson but i do love me some Deshaun watson.

i get Brady showed decline and brees was out for weeks and wasn’t what he was but i still have trouble Having tannehill and cam ahead of them with tannehill playing great for just 8 games and newton injured in week 2 and currently not even signed.

i actually like darnold, lock and burrow if they get protection from their olines. Darnold probably has less weapons than burrow and lock but i could see all three of their olines hold up being higher by seasons end. I do worry about burrows with no camps and bengals rebuilding but he has weapons.

Id vote for Trump over Biden easily 100/100 if not for the issue of student loans. I hope Biden's vice president is really qualified since he is losing his mind. And in 4 years after my largest debt is cancelled, Ill vote for someone else.

I may still vote for Trump regardless.

If they do any kind of student debt forgiveness between now and the election, my decision to vote for Trump again will be much easier.

Moderate Dems got smart and selected a viable moderate that independents and Main Street Republicans could vote for.  Trump has alienated Main Streeters with his tariff policies and his human scum comment.  I am real glad my choices aren’t Bombastic Bernie and ***** Donald.   That might have caused me to look Libertarian.  I agree that Biden needs to be smart with his VP choice.  Go too progressive and he loses Main Streeters and independents.  I liked Amy but the BLM  movement and Minneapolis DA issue took her out.   I do hate that he forced his hand by declaring he would select a woman.  Corey Booker would have been an interesting choice because, regardless of his politics, he is just so likable as a person.

Im not sure all of what you covered there, lots of stuff way above my pay grade😉

All i think what i think i know is that the current health care system is broken and leaves far too many people in america uninsured or underinsured.

I also think i know that 31 of 32 industrialized countries have a socially funded healthcare system where every citizen has healthcare. I believe America has the ability and inginuity to figure out what 31 of 32 countries already have. Definitely not the current admin but others.

I also think i think i know that America is the wealthiest country in the history of the world and that theres zero reason every one shouldnt have healthcare in this country.

I also think i think i know that we as a country spend more than any other country on healthcare and have worse health outcomes than many other countries who spend far less and that a lot of that spent money goes to wasteful admin costs.

I think theres a better more efficient affordable way to provide health care to every citizen in America than the current health care system provides.

Its broken fix it. I dont know the ins and out of health care industry or health care provision or insurance all i know is its broken and there are ways to fix it and there are people lots smarter than me who can fix it if corporate greed would get out the way😠

i get this but i cant excuse racism, sexism, corruption, criminal behavior, word salad, inciting violence, destroying the environment,  utter stupudity ect... because the economy is " biggly" or i might get student loan forgiveness.

Dont hold your breath on that, betsy Devos is and has done everything she possibly can to eliminate student loan forgiveness programs and if Trump were re elected shes not going anywhere or all the sudden changing every thing shes done for the past 3 years.

Well, the US does not have a monopoly on morons. Here’s the the scene from Bournemouth, UK:

image.jpeg.7e6c3e18bee8553925714ba3733a3e0c.jpeg

I had a skip level at work today and this came up...  To cut a long story short, 500k people descended on a 7 mile long beach on the South Coast of the UK (yesterday but also) over the past couple of heatwave days and this picture shows that.  The reality is most of the Covidiots stayed within half a mile of the pier as they were too lazy to walk.

However, what it doesn't show is the amount of trash and human faeces left by the morons, and how these animals parked their vehicles in the town.  It's the second time in the past couple of months that morons like the above have descended on the seaside and left it in a mess.

The irony is that part of the beach is where local druggies go to get high, so it's actually pretty horrid to be around.

It's hard to single those morons out when we've had 3-4 weeks of BLM supporters doing what they hell they like and getting no come back from "da feds"🤷‍♂️

Pivoting on the conversation, my football team are selling season ticket renewals for next season on the below premise:

  • Access to live stream of any league home game where attendance is closed
  • Priority access to home games where attendances are limited

All while freezing prices.

A model I can see some NFL team following. Helps cashflow and retains fan loyalty too.  If we go up, it's an absolute steal!

That's crap. If you struggle with stuttering, you're gonna come off as senile. Trump is more likely to be senile than Biden, obese, never exercises, awful diet - those are correlated with early dementia. Of course, he's so dumb it would be hard to tell (reads at a 6th grade level, they have to give him Powerpoints rather than briefing books).

My mother at 92 is probably a lot sharper than you are, she still teaches (now by Zoom) courses at a senior center on a wide range of topics, from politics to art history.

How do I sign up for your mom’s courses?
