There is nothing irrelevant in wondering which they would choose.  It would be an interesting tidbit.

You get so testy when Wentz enters the equation.  I am concerned for you and UK both.

It’s not a question worth asking, because there was never a situation where it ever happened. It’s just seems like a veiled  attempt to take a shot at Howie over a decision that he didn’t even make. There are plenty of things to rip Howie on bud. No need to make things up.

On a side note how many GMs would’ve taken Wentz over Dak Prescott? Look how foolish all those GMs would look now?

We don't know how the Colts FO views this but they could look at it like it's a first round pick that becomes a second if Wentz gets hurt or is really bad. I know that's not the way the trade was set up but that's how they could look at it. If Wentz is good for them then a first was a bargain.

I think in the eyes of the Colts the only way Wentz doesn’t meet his quota is if he’s too hurt to play or if he gets hurt. They gotta pay that dude a lot of money so they need to know if he’s good. I think the owner will be far more upset to find out this guy can’t play and they’re paying him big money next season because they kept him on the sidelines trying to be slick this season. Wentz has been up and down this season. He’s riding high right now so his fanboys are creaming themselves thinking he’s arrived. Two weeks from now he could be back to fumbling and throwing picks. The Colts need to find out what they have in a quarterback. They’re going to need more than a few games to know what they have.

You still have that vivid imagination at work. It's long been determined that Howie was a fool A) for drafting Hurts versus a position of need,  B) somehow making our franchise QB so mad that he forced his way out, and C) for not having a better QB option than Hurts, if B happened.  There is no need to pick on Howie any further....he's already been figured out.

It would just be interested to know in a hypothetical situation, who would GMs want to build around - Wentz or Hurts?   If anything, this is a shot at who we are stuck with (Howie by extension only).

Colts are 1-4 but not because of Wentz. He’s played well and is starting to get his mojo back as long as he stays healthy. Never understood the hate for him here by many fans.

I think there are only a few dyed-in-the-wool Wentz haters here but they sure haven't spared their keyboards.🙂 If you look at the Wentz hate threads the same few names keep appearing again and again and AGAIN.

They are real salty on Twitter. They treat him like he has a bunch of off field issues. The guy is squeaky clean

Being sqeaky clean -- and religious -- and a ginger -- are viewed by some as off field issues it seems.

It’s pretty simple here. Howie told everyone that at the end of the 2019 season who was left available and the people who weren’t Howie drafted their position. The main culprits were WR and quarterback. That’s what he focused on. Bottom line is if his quarterback didn’t have a penchant for not being there when the team needed him the most then Howie wouldn’t have felt the need to draft a cheaper controllable backup. That’s why Hurts was drafted. The lack of availability of Wentz. He wasn’t looking to "build around Hurts.” That’s a bs narrative that isn’t true. The Eagles wanted Wentz back. They fired their coach and Wentz still wanted out. Let’s try not to change the truth for fiction. With that being the case the Eagles did have a more than capable backup for Wentz who actually won a Super Bowl and all of their playoff games since 2017, but the cost of paying Wentz (not to finish full seasons)  and the cost of Foles (to only play occasionally) was financially burdensome. Something had to be done since Wentz couldn’t stay on the field and the Eagles couldn’t afford to pay a backup 20 mil a year.

Man if only he could play the Texans every week and have Taylor run for 145 and 2tds at that.

Every single player in the NFL has been hurt every year. You don't play the game and not get hurt, it just doesn't happen. He hasn't miss any games due to injury in 2016, 2019, 2020 or this year so far.

That's a fun argument that has been raised time and time again.  And the reality is that he's only played fewer than 75% of the snaps due to injury in a season one time in 5 years.

2016 - 100%
2017 - 77.90%
2018 - 66.3%
2019 - 98.63%
2020 - 71.59% (benched, not injured)

Please bring something new to the conversation.

That's a crazy bet.  I can't believe no one has taken you up on that!!!  You are giving away free money!  I mean, he's really like no other QB in the league, getting hurt and all...

How on earth did we get in a position to be the #1 seed in 2017?

Even if that were true the Hurts pick still makes no sense. Why not draft a backup that fits the scheme?
