Matt Ryan going to the Colts makes way more sense than coming here. They also have tons of cap space available right now too.

Only issue is Ryan saw a big decline in 2021 as compared to the previous years. Maybe it’s their oline and lack of weapons outside of pitts, Patterson (Ridley missed most of the year). However he could just be nearing the end.

Mix of all 3. No oline. Only weapons were a rookie TE and Patterson. And he's ancient. I just don't see much point if the plan is to draft a rookie when you already have Minshew here who could be a bridge and start for 2022 while the rookie acclimates.

I was thinking about that.  Atlanta gets Deshaun.  We trade Hurts to N.O. or Houston...We trade for Matt Ryan and draft Malik Willis.

Not sure willis is going to fall to 15. might have to move up to get him. So potentially giving up draft capital for Ryan and then more for willis. I mean we are a QB factory so wouldn’t shock me. Just think it’s a lot of draft capital to give up for Ryan as a bridge and then potentially willis.

My biggest issue is Matt Ryan's arm working out outdoors in December.

Matt Ryan > Jalen Hurts all day. Also what does Matt Ryans contract look like? Maybe we would restructure? Also I think he would be decent behind our o line.

I will lose my ish.

Mathieu is a major upgrade at S over McLeod/Harris.

I agree there, he is. But I don't think he's much of a building block to the future and he's gonna be expensive.

Hmm. Not Philadelphia, not Tennessee, SF would pass LESS if they made that change, definitely not Baltimore, Indianapolis would likely be the same with the QBs they’re linked to, probably not Arizona, New Orleans is up in the air whether or not they get their QB, and I forgot Cleveland. A running team who If they dropped Mayfield they likely pass less with an inexperienced QB as well.

So is that it then?  Is that the way to go?  Running offenses with running qbs?  And if that’s just a straw man on my part and that’s not what you are trying to say, why are you venturing out onto this hill?

I wouldn’t do it. I feel like there’s going to be a team like cleveland or Indy that overpays for Ryan as they are in desperate need for a QB (assuming baker is truly done in Cleveland). If the plan was was get Ryan then draft willis you likely have to move up for willis as well. So it’s capital for Ryan and willis. Who knows what we are going to get back for minshew and hurts in those other deals. We got minshew for a 5th. So how much more on the last year of his contract can you expect in a trade for him? Hurts I’m not sure what the value would be either.

Lol...Matt Ryan?

Rather have a hemorrhoid.

I don't see what the plan is here. This team is not improving, and they let young building block type free agents sign elsewhere in spite of massive roster issues.

But at least that insufferable lil' soy-filled sack of 'ish has his 3-year extension.

Completely out on trading up for anyone this year.  So trade Hurts and then wait for a qb in 2023.  I'm working to get Hurts out of here and for them to get the other foot out of the water.

I wouldn’t either. I just think some team is going to overdraft him. Potentially Carolina tbh.

Non-contact injury + ankle pop = likely Achilles. Brutal.

Why?  If he is a bridge...he's a much better bridge than Hurts and would signal what their direction is.  Rather than being in purgatory, like they are now.

We are in team purgatory and qb hell.

Im not sure that Ryan in 2022 changes either one of those.

If the philosophy is we don't like the offensive style with Hurts and want more of a pocket passer as a bridge while a 2022 or 2023 rookie develops, I'd just stick with Minshew.

Yeah. Why waste ~$16mm of cap space on Ryan when Minshew gives you about the same production at this point for just over $2.5 million.

It will NEVER happen, but I'd trade Hurts for a 2nd (hopefully) and use Minshew as a bridge. Either draft a QB this year or next.

PROJECT QB

Make him sit and develop.  Imagine that.

I have no issue with a project QB this year. I'd just rather it not be Willis in the 1st.

He's here to be a leader and mentor Epps, Wallace, and whatever young S they take this year (hopefully Cine, Pitre, Joseph, Cross or McKinley). Adding him and Reddick both instantly upgrade 2 parts of the D.

Completely agreed. If the plan is a QB in the draft this year, then trade Hurts and roll with the Stache for 2022.

Not saying it would be a good move but when was the last time Matt Ryan had a decent Online?

Probably 2017. And even then it wasn’t great but it was serviceable

The snarky sarcastic golf clap by 2nd place.  The look of utter contempt and distain on the face of 3rd place.  This is what this country has become.  Everyone scared to get cancelled.  LOL.

I still don't get why we all have to pretend that Hurts is vastly better than Minshew. Minshew played well on an AWFUL team in Jacksonville that didn't win a game without him. He has more experience as well. So...he was a 6th round pick. So what? He should be playing.
