I don't understand this. If you're trading 3 1st rounders, you might as well guarantee the contract. You're all in on the player.

Agreed. There has to be more to it than that.

Alabama, Oklahoma, Pederson, Sirianni.

If you look at the other Oklahoma QBs who went #1, all had at least one season to learn the offense before they excelled.

And last year, Sirianni changed everything mid-stream.

I don't know what Hurts' ceiling actually is, but I'd be shocked if he can't improve to some extent. How much? That remains to be seen.

Let's not forget, Smith is a talented WR, but last season he was still a rookie, and one who had a bigger adjustment to the NFL b/c he had to deal with tighter coverage (and learning to compensate for his physical limitations). There were games he disappeared that had nothing to do with Hurts. Same with Watkins, who is a work in progress. And let's not talk about Reagor/Ward/JJAW as your third option.  At TE, \Goedert was a big target, but when Ertz left, teams ignored Stoll. Nor did the RBs help much, Gainwell was a rookie, Sanders lost his hands, Scott isn't Westbrook as a midget RB receiver.

Yeah, I'm not counting college

Of the teams you mentioned that aren’t passing more, how many are making a qb change…so that they can pass more?

Hmm. Not Philadelphia, not Tennessee, SF would pass LESS if they made that change, definitely not Baltimore, Indianapolis would likely be the same with the QBs they’re linked to, probably not Arizona, New Orleans is up in the air whether or not they get their QB, and I forgot Cleveland. A running team who If they dropped Mayfield they likely pass less with an inexperienced QB as well.

should we go back to Pop Warner and High School too?

But, but, but, but you counted four years!

Indy missed the playoffs. Arizona didn't win a playoff game. We didn't win a playoff game. Baltimore missed the playoffs. Tennessee didn't win a playoff game. New Orleans didn't make the playoffs. Baltimore by the way, was 9th overall in pass attempts last year.

San Fran made noise in the playoffs, but not because of some master plan to run the ball when the other team isn't expecting pass. Dallas did what Dallas does in the playoffs, loses in embarrassing fashion (as the Chiefs showed exactly what to do with 13 seconds left). Then, GB had an unbelievable ST meltdown of a game, again, nothing to do with SF choosing to run more than pass. In the NFCCG, that vaunted rushing attack produced 20 carries for 50 yards. When they had to pass, they couldn't, and they lost.

Looking at the top 10 passing attempts last year:

TB, KC, LAC, Pitt, Dallas, LV, Buff, Miami, Baltimore, LAR

So, 7 of the top 10 teams made the playoffs. Hardly supports your theory that teams with bad records have to throw much more because they're always behind.

My point was the proportionate nature of a team’s average passing vs what they do in wins and losses. Any of those teams will pass more in losses than wins proportionate to their average passing stats on the season. He specifically brought up that Hurts passes more in losses than wins; everyone does that.

But that wasn’t the point of his original post. He wasn’t comparing Hurts to the best QBs on the league, he was comparing him to the worst based solely on his passing stats vs bad QBs who don’t even run.

It also helped that Wilson had a historic defense

And I’m not saying Hurts is some Qb Savant or anything like what Wilson is. But to say his running ability is not relevant to what he brings to a football team as their QB is preposterous.

So far the Eagles have avoided doing anything dumb since the league opened, but if we bring back Cox at a big number it'll be a massive step back.

2nd round pick for the Eagles now

Every QB entering the NFL has changed schemes. Most QBs change schemes multiple times during their careers. All that I have heard comment on the change say it is no big deal and that "football is football."

There’s our second round pick!

It’s a fan talking point that doesn’t even make sense. Herbert changed coaches, schemes etc and got better in his second year. His mechanics didn’t go out the window. And this concept of you can’t iron out mechanics while switching schemes is stupid. What’s next, "he had to change audibles! He couldn’t focus on getting better!”

Did not neither

Let’s not rush to judgement.  He might be hurt bad enough to justify blowing a 2nd on him.

I'd take him in the 3rd-4th if it's an ACL as long as we draft another DE before

He got injured a lot like Lee did. They always had great LBs but couldn't stay healthy. We've had neither lol

It'd be better if his rushing ability wasn't better than his throwing ability. That's why a lot of people say he's more of a RB than a QB
